As I was driving I noticed my speed control wasn't working. Once I arrived at my destination I researched this issue online and found that others also had problems with the brake lights when this happened. So, I went out to check my brake lights and they are non responsive.

The electric system is is knocking out the brake light and cruise control on all 2004 and up chevorlet Colorados. I was driving home from work just to be pulled over because the brake lights wasn't working he told me the guy behind me almost nailed me because of it. I didn't know! but I did know of the Colorados having a big problem with the electric system knocking out the brake lights and cruise control. So I got on line to see just how bad it was and found out it's no laughing matter all most every chevorlet Colorado truck has this problem. Just thank of comming to a stop from 65 miles an hour and not having brake lights, I and some people on the road with me got lucky today. I called two of my closest gm dealers to try to get it fixed today and asked did they know of a problem like this and they did but gm has no recall it's at the owners exspense to get it fixed, while I told them both what I found out online. . . . The answer from one no one has died yet. **** that's what it takes to get some things fixed now days for some one to die before the companies to fix a defective vehicle. . . Please some that can force gm to fix the problems with the Colorado trucks please help us owners of these trucks outwe can't keep spending money like this I also have spent houndrerds on other problems through out the seven I owned the truck. . . Times are tight can't just got to and buy a nother vehicle. . . Look online these truck are prone for trouble and people don't know it until the have brought the truck.
2006 chevy Colorado- 4wd- z71, extend cab 1. Premature rear brake shoe wear (more than front disk); 2. Right brake light blows out repeatedly and shows shortout burns on contacts at bulb socket. Replacing bulb just blows each time. 3. Rear window leaks in heavy rain storms.
Noticed first the cruise control had stopped working, then was informed by a friend that I had no brake lights. While searching for replacement parts online, I noticed a recall notice for my vehicle from NHTSA(09v310000), but that parts will not be available until June 2010. I contacted Chevrolet and was told that there are no open recall notices on my vehicle. At this time I have not replaced the defective part.
Driving home on date indicated. . . Slowing down for traffic and was almost rear-ended. . . The car behind me moved up to the side to inform me that he almost hit me due to my brake lights not working. Pulled over to confirm to find that none of my brake lights were working when pressing the brake pedal. Got home safely, located the recall information on safercar. Gov and found 3 recalls regarding the type of vehicle we have. Took it to the dealer first thing in the morning of 10/5/09. The dealer stated there is no such recall and stated we would need to fix it. Call Chevrolet at the number listed on the recall summary 800-630-2438 to be told that its not their issue, told me that it is VIN # specific. Asked to speak to a manager to discuss, a supervisor came on the line with no resolution. She did offer assistance, but would not define the assistance Chevrolet would be able to provide.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. The passenger observed that the driver and passenger side rear brake lights were inoperable. The vehicle has not been repaired. 2007 chevy Colorado: noticed that cruise control was not working. Brake lights were also not working. Definitely related according to auto repair forums.
I got a recall notice for my truck, the brake lights won't work in the taillight system. The brake light above the back window works. When I called about this I was told the recall was over my vehicle was not one of the recalled vehicles, all my other lights work it is only my brake lights that don't work. I feel like this is part of the recall. What should I do. They say arkansas is not part of the recall.
Cruise control on my 2005 chevy Colorado stopped working, when researching the problem I found my brake lights were also not working, there is supposed to have been a recall about this, however my dealership - lithia Chevrolet and george gee pontiac, both say thier part was already replaced on the vehicle and they refuse to fix it again, thus I am stuck without brake lights, obviously the replacement part doesn't fix the problem.
On my 2007 Chevrolet Colorado , the headlamps , brake lights , reverse lights , and fuses will burn out at random . In roughly 6 week time , the dealership replaced 5 to 6 bulbs. I brought my vehicle to the dealership 4 times before I contacted Chevrolet and they stated their is a underlying problem that is causing all these incident and that the engineers are working on it. They could not tell me when the problem be resolved. All they advised me is too keep contact with the dealership for updates. This problem is disabling my break lights, running lamps ,headlamps every 5-6 days. I obtained a gm engineering bulletin document id:1980024 (assuming not supposed to be leaked to the public) which states they have been aware of the problem since at least June 4 , 2007 and there still are not any resolutions. When I addressed the legal issues (violating laws about vehicle equipment) and potential accidents (due to decreased visibility of my vehicle due to inoperative lights) , they replied that they do not deal with "what if" scenarios. I have severely limited my driving at night ,and the amount of service department trips are causing significant financial hardships due to missed work.
Rear brakes have failed four times since purchase; almost caused two crashes. Cruise control doesn't always work. Brake lights only work sometimes.
- the contact took vehicle to dealer for recall 06030 repairs. The contact made an appointment ,and when she went to the dealer, the part had not come in. The dealer told her he would call her when the part arrived, which should have been within seven days. The recalled partwas the brake lamp switch. The vehicle currently has 25,000. The contact did not know if the brake light was presently functioning correctly.
Brake lights and cruise control will not work.
All brake lights failed, they are no longer working.
I have a complete failure of my brake lights on my 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. I have checked the fuse box. . . Everything is ok. I have had the truck a total of 8 months.
2005 Chevrolet Colorado - cruise control stopped working. - my son has the same vehicle as me and had the same problem. He said the service person at dealership told him his brake lights were out as well. - we checked my brake lights and they were not working as well. - there were no lights on the dash to indicate the brake lights were out.
1- the cruise control stopped working. Drove the vehicle several day without it working. 2- scheduled it into joe johnson Chevrolet Aug. 18th. Repair person reported to me that the brake lights were also not working. So I was driving the vehicle around for several days without brake lights ( very unsafe ). 3- the repair shop replaced stop lamp switch. 4- next day I spoke with my father who also has the same vehicle. I told him what had happened with my vehicle. He said his cruise control had not been working for a while. We check his brake lights and they are not working. 5- obviously this is a huge safety issue that needs to be investigated.
