Exterior Lighting Problems of Chevrolet Colorado - part 1

The right turn signal will click for a left turn after completing its right turn without physically pressing the turn signal. Has happened since buying vehicle, continues to happen now. Turn signal was replaced by dealership, problem not resolved. Have reconfirmed problem with dealership service manager as well as video evidence of issue. Issue happens at all speeds, idle to freeway speeds.

After completing a right turn with a right turn signal, the vehicle will sometimes signal a left turn for 3 blinks. I can feel and hear a clicking from the turn signal switch when initiating the signal to turn right. Gm issued TSB 24-na-235 which was performed on my 2024 Colorado but it did not resolve the problem.

The high mounted stop lights and the cruise control do not work. A recall for this was issued (NHTSA 06v13900 and NHTSA 09v310000) but when I enter my VIN it says I'm not included in the recall. Also, a dealer said my vehicle was not in the recall. If I have the problem stated in the recall why am I not included? I am the original owner. First noticed problem about six months ago. Did not know about the recall until yesterday.

The turn signals to not function correctly and give inaccurate signals to other drivers. Most (perhaps all) times, when signaling a right turn, after the right turn signal deactivates, the switch "overcorrects" and signals a left lane change (three blinks to the left). This no doubt leads to confusion to other drivers and could cause a accident. Turn signal must work flawlessly! this problem has been broadly reported on the chevy Colorado internet forum.

Vehicle headlights provide very poor lighting in fog or in rain at night. It is impossible to see highway lane markings.

Rear back up camera at night is extremely bright and blinding to driver. Makes it useless at night and dangerous. There's no way to lower brightness setting for night time back up moves. I've seen many complaints on this. We owners shouldn't have to pay to have this fix.

#1 adaptive cruise control suddenly brakes when there are no vehicles ahead. #2 after completing right turn with right turn signal flashing the left turn signal is activated and flashes three times.

When trailer is plugged in left turn signal cannot be found by trailer light test via onboard diagnostics. Left turn signal function correctly when trailer is not connect. When trailer is connected left turn signal flashes rapidly.

The headlight want come on and tail light switches is messed up it want work and bulbs and all fuzes good one day they just stopped working.

I'm having an issue with my 2024 Colorado trail boss. After making a right hand turn with the signal on, once the stalk bounces back, it overcorrects and 'taps' the indicator and flashes left 3 times. I've seen some other owners having this issue on online forums throughout the Colorado and GMC canyon lineup. I think it's a pretty big safety concern to give improper navigation signals, 50% of the time I take a right hand turn.

When a right turn signal is selected and a right turn is made, the turn signal clicks off and turns on the left turn signal. Dealer replaced turn signal switch and problem still occurs.

I turned my vehicle on and noticed the instrument panel screen was completely off. I tried to turn it off and on again and it stayed off. I had to drive home with no instrument panel. After 5 hours I turned on the truck and it finally came on.

With right turn signal engaged and immediately after making every right turn, the vehicle's left turn signal flashes for a number of seconds for no reason. Dealers cannot fix this issue and have advised filing NHTSA complaint.

He wiring harness to the 4wd kept coming on which wouldn’t allow me to ingage. Mountain chevy citified mechanic found a chafing on the wiring harness. After filing it my truck started to light up like a christmas tree, stability service, trailer brake service, locker service, power streering service and they done turn off. Which is caused by more chafing wires that are to close to components of the engine bay getting to hot. Now my power steering turns off and when driving the truck it kicks on and make me loose control of the vehicle. Big diffect on chevys manufacturing this vehicle. I’m not able to drive it and now they keep telling me that they don’t have the part or can’t find it.

I believe this is because the turn signal stalk 'bounces' down to the left turn signal area when returning back to normal position from a right turn. ? ? this is a safety issue because the vehicle is signaling a left turn when no turn is intended. This could cause confusion to other drivers on the road. ?.

I've had two problems both dealing with the truck's infotainment system. The first problem was that the software "glitched" and the screen became unusable (see attached pictures). The headlight controls are exclusively accessed through this screen and I had to remove the negative battery cable for 10+ minutes to recover this screen and access my headlight controls. The second problem was an over the air updated pushed to my truck over the weekend of 7/21/2023 to 7/24/2023. The update did not install and caused my truck's battery to drain while not in use. I was forced to jump start the vehicle the morning of 7/24/2023. The truck had 7500 miles at the time of battery failure.

Third break light is out caused by corrosion of the wires. The corrosion is the result of a water leak that is caused by a defective body seal on the roof of the cab.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact previously received notification of the NHTSA campaign number: 16v054000 (steering), and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the recall repair was completed; however, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became stiff and difficult to maneuver. The power steering assist warning light illuminated. The contact turned off the vehicle, then opened and closed the driver’s side door and the steering wheel started to perform as designed. The contact stated that the front driver’s and passenger’s side low beam and the rear passenger’s side taillight failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that a percentage of the repair cost would be covered. The failure mileage was approximately 110,372.

Componenets failing: passenger side headlight and blinker keep failing. Driver side running light keeps failing to illuminate. Driver side rear brake lights keep failing. Rear passenger side reverse light and blinker failing to illuminate. Safety: I have no way to safely drive in the dark or daylight because the blinkers and headlight are failing to work properly. Inspection and confirmation: the problem keeps reproducing itself about every month or so since purchase, July 4th of 2022. The dealership has attempted to work on the problem four times already. Three times at the same dealership and once at another auto shop. The dealership is the only one that has inspected it. They have been in communication with the engineers on multiple occasions. Known parts replaced at this time: the bcm, wiring harness, fuses, and fuse box have all been replaced since September of 2022 to now, March 7 2023. Warning messages recieved: the only warning messages I have gotten are blinker failure, break light failure, head light failure.

I purchased a new 2022 chevy Colorado lt in January. When driving home and it got dark I used the dimmer to see better. When using the dimmer all of the radio dials turn completely off / dark (not illuminated at all). I drove off the road, looking down trying to find them. I notified the dealership the next day. They had the vehicle for about a week and told me it was fixed. I went to pick it up but it was not. They kept it, tried to fix it again then stated it is how it is supposed to be. I opened a case with gm. They assured me it would be fixed. I brought it to another dealership. They replaced the radio and told me it was fixed and it was not. They took the truck in again for a week. This is now 3 times the truck has been in. Everyone (dealership and gm) telling me it is not right and should be fixed. They are now telling me it is operating as designed. They are saying there is nothing else they can do under the warranty. It is absolutely ridiculous. The touch screen for the radio and steering controls for the radio on the steering wheel start changing channels on the radio, the touch screen starts clicking, and going through the stations, satellite stations, and flipping through all of the home screens. When trying to stop this will the truck is running is a hazard because the touch screen does not work, nor does the volume or channel controls on the steering wheel work. The clicking and changing of stations and screens is a hazard when on the freeway because of a distraction that cannot be turned off. Even when turning off the radio the clicking and touch screen continues to roll through all of its menus making noises. This starts to happen about 5 minutes into operation of the truck. Additionally, the menu on the dash, not the touch screen, starts changing menus and sticks on the radio stations and then you cannot view the mileage or amount of gas left. Nothing stops these actions except for turning off the truck for a few minutes.

I was stopped, and given a warning by a police officer for having no tail lights whatsoever. All other lights were functioning, and they had been fine the day before. These vehicles have four identical stop and tail lamp bulbs. I tested with my multimeter, and found that there was current at the socket. I replaced all four bulbs. Upon inspection, I determined that a single bulb of the four had a broken filament. It seems ridiculous that one bulb failing should cause the other three to go off duty. What is the point of two bulbs on each side, if they all quit when one dies?.

There is a recall for my year of Colorado but not my VIN. The recall is for 04-09 Colorado trucks for a defective brake light switch. Defective switch=no brake lights. My 2007 Colorado brake light switch is defective, therefore I have no brake lights. The switch has been tested and found to be defective, but a search of my VIN shows no recalls. It's obvious that my vehicle and likely many more vehicles are effected than what are covered under this recall.

One day, after I turned my truck off, I noticed that my taillights and overhead cargo light remained on. Key was out, truck was off, but the lights stayed on. So for the time being, I disconnected the battery. I brought it to a mechanic, who ran the codes that came back that the rear driver turn signal was high, the rear passenger turn signal was high, and the overhead cargo light was high. He checked the entire truck for a short, replaced the taillights, replaced the fuse box, replaced the body control module, and numerous other attempts at a repair, with no success. I was without a vehicle for many months, since I can't afford the absurd prices of the current vehicle market and was hopeful it could be fixed. Reading through some other complaints/online threads, this seems like a fairly common problem with these vehicles. Electrical issues that affect my ability to use a turn signal are a huge safety concern and this needs to be addressed.

I'm reporting a safety issue with the head lights on this vehicle, 2021 Chevrolet Colorado lt. The low beam head lights are woefully insufficient for night driving. The light emitted is non-existent with any light from oncoming vehicles. This is well known buy other owners of this model truck, and immediately noticeable to anyone who has driven my own vehicle. I have tried 2 different types of bulbs to improve the situation with no improvement. There are upgraded lights available as an option if you order the vehicle that way, but most models on the lot do not have this option. The cost to have the vehicle retro-fitted with the optional headlights is well over $1000. In parts and labor. I have owned older vehicle with the same style /strength blubs with no issue, but this vehicle is dangerous to drive at night with the standard headlights, especially in inclement weather.

Gushing sound of liquid when start. Rattling when accelerating noisy suspension screen turned black once or twice clunking noise when shifting noise in brakes.

The low light output while driving is very dim and the visibility seems to be reduced. While driving thru back roads poorly illuminate it seems that the light are not enough.

Just took delivery of a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado. The headlamp low beam will not come on for either l or r headlamp.

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the brake lamps on the vehicle were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the bulbs; however, the failure persisted. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 09v310000 (exterior lighting). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

Tl-the contact owns a 2018 chevorlet Colorado. The contact stated that the dimmer switch does not activate when the vehicle is in motion. Mainly the lights inside the vehicle are to bright. . It's to bright and impares the contacts vissio at night. During the day hours the lights on the dashboard are to dem and the controls can not be seen. The warning lights did not illuminate. The vehicle was not towed and was taken back to the contacts home. The vehicle was not repaired, however the diagnnosed at bruce chevorlet (503) 388-4240 1084 sw oak st, hillsboro, or 97123. They were informed that the dimmer lights failed due to a short in the computer system. The manufacturer was informed and they did nothing. The failure mileage was 50,000. Jw.

I looked up my VIN and have had an active recall since 2006.

Will not start,to hot to start!!!!!.
