My power steering went out on a 45mph turn and nearly lost control of my truck. I took it to the dealer for them to say there is no recalls on it. If I were an older person and this happened to them I'm sure they would of lost control because I really had to put a lot of effort to get my truck back on the road. This is definitely a safety issue and it should be taken care of by Chevrolet.

Trucks steering assist device light comes on at every start up and steering goes out completely almost ever time I drive it now.
While driving at 70 mph power steering went out. Had immediate loss of control of the vehicle. Pulled over shut the vehicle down. Restarted the vehicle power steering returned.
While the vehicle remained in motion taking a turn on a roundabout, the vehicles power steering and stabilitrak suddenly turns off causing the vehicle to become very difficult to steer and near impossible to complete the turn. The situation happened twice in roundabouts in the past couple months. One of the times this happened my wife was driving while my two young children were in the vehicle. She described hitting the curb, because of lack of arm strength to pull the wheel. The issue resolves when you can safely park and restart the vehicle. After taking it to the dealer it was confirmed there was an electrical issue with the "steering gear pinion" and appears to be a known safety issue with chevy Colorado's. The dealer mentioned the cost to replace this electrical component including labor was an upwards of 1800 dollars. For 2015 model years it appears 3000 vehicles were recalled for this exact issue, however a broader recall was not extended to the 2016 model year. After contacting gm it was expressed that they would not cover my vehicle under this recall at this time. I was charged for the diagnostic fee to determine the cause of issue.
Power steering would fail while driving causing steering to be extremely difficult, and potentially extremely dangerous situation. Stabiltrac message would be displayed on the message center. It would reset upon turning off the the vehicle.
While driving on the interstate at 75 mph the stability control/traction control and power steering went out on my truck. This has also happened when starting vehicle. Dealer ship stated all recalls have been completed but having same issues everyone else, so vehicle was not fixed correctly. This is very unsafe and many others are having this same problem. This should be forced to be repaired. This is a safety hazard for the public, the operator, and anyone riding in the vehicle.
Vehicle was in motion, when suddenly a loss of power steering warning came, almost making me lose control of the vehicle while on the highway, as I was in the middle of a turn. It has happened 5 times so far.

Twice the power steering has been lost while traveling at under 25 mph on city streets. The stabilitrak and power steering lights were illuminated. Pulled over, turned the vehicle off and restarted, restoring the power steering.
Electric power steering quits with no warning and lose traction control and power steering. Dashboard lights come on to say power steering failure use caution. Problem is persistent multiple times a week with no warning. The only way to resolve issue is to stop for five minutes and restart engine. This temporarily fixes the issue but the problem will reoccur at unsuspecting moments. It has happened at varying speeds from 25 mph to highway speeds of 75. Causes the steering to become heavy and unmanageable requiring a speed reduction and stoppage to reset engine. Made appointment with dealer and was told the truck is out of warranty and that it would be an out of pocket expense.
Power steering abruptly went out while going around a curve becoming difgicult if not almost imposdible to turn without herculean strength. Had I been on an off ramp most certainly would have gone off the side.
At 65 mph on i75 stability and power steering assist both suddenly stopped working. Pulled into the first rest area (approx. 3 miles), shut down the truck and restarted in about 10 minutes. System returned to normal.
While driving down a main road at 50 mph the car started dinging and indicated that power steering and stabilitrack need servicing. The vehicle instantly became very difficult to steer. Luckily I was able to safely pull off of the road and did not crash.
Driving down 4 ln rd, slowed to make left hand turn , two messages pop up and says" service stabilitrak and service power steering drive. " then I had loss of power steering assistance in making turn. Proceed to service staion to check power steerin fluid, couldn't find so asked cell phane where it was located, found there was no such thing and was tod model under recall for power steering problems. Decided best get it home so restarted truck------everything fine. Called to see about recall and was told not valid for my vehicle . So scheduled a service reuest at a lcal chevy dealer.
On 7/22/20 driving home from work when the stabilitrack service light came on and the power steering service soon light came on. After about 30 seconds the light went off. On 7/16/20 the stabilitrack service light came on twice and went off on the way home from walmart. Both times were on a straight highway speeds of about 65 with the power steering going out for 30 seconds.
Stabilitrak and power steering error indicator on start up. Restarted truck and fixed the issue until driving city streets for a couple of miles and the stabilitrak and power steering suddenly turned off while driving with the same indicators on my dash. Rest of truck seems to be working fine. No check engine light. Just service stabilitrak and loss of power steering indicator on dash board.
I'm driving down the road at about 45 miles an hour and I got two messages pop up and says service stabilitrak and service power steering drive. Than I had total loss of power steering at 45 miles an hour.
While driving power steering becomes disabled. This has happened multiple times beginning on 7/3/2020 at 11:03 am and has continued until present day.
Same thing as my last complaint. I'm driving straight down the road at 40 miles an hour and lost power steering. Audible alarm went off and 2 messages popped up service power steering and service stabilitrak. Luckily I was on an empty road and stopped and restarted my car. It took 3 times for it to go away then as I'm starting to drive again it comes up again and I had to restart the car.
My Colorado has been having a problem where my power steering cuts out while driving and on startup, I researched and it seems to be a common problem and a recall, I contacted my local dealer explained to them what was going on and I was told that it did have the recall for my exact issue but that it had already been fixed, it absolutely has not or needs to be fixed again, it's an extreme hazard it happens daily at this point and I really do not know what else to do. I do not know who did the repairs the first time I bought the truck used but I was told the problem has been taken care of but it has not please help thanks.
I lost power steering while driving straight down the road at 50 miles an hour. An audible alarm went off and a message popped up "service power steering, drive with care" then a second message popped up "service stabilitrak. " I pulled over to the side of the road and restarted my car and it went back to normal.

While driving on the interstate at 75 mph the stability control/traction control and power steering went out on my truck. This is very unsafe and many other year models are having this problem. This should have a recall on and forced to repair. It is a good thing I was close to an exit top get off the highway.
I was driving down the highway and the service stabilitrak and service power steering messages popped up. So I pulled over and shut the truck off, then started it again, the messages went away so I got back on the highway. After getting back up to speed the messages popped back up, so pulled over and shut off the truck again. The messages did not come back on the rest of my drive. My truck has popped up the service power steering message before but never while I was driving.

Having problems with the power steering assist. Very difficult to turn vehicle while turning. No power assist available.
I own this car less the one year this happened 3 times already in less the 10k I take the car to dealer never find anything no solve problems they want me to pay to change the all power steering system one time I was with my kids driving in the highway I don't know how we don't end in accident or worst all time car has been driving I have to come to stop in the middle off the road no solution give by chevy.
Five months ago my key began to be stuck in my ignition. Had to continually restart my truck to get my key out. Same time I started to have intermittent lose of power steering. Only way to rectify that again is to turn my car off and restart. Just drove 13 miles with my daughter and it happened 5 times.
While driving experienced stability control alarm and steering failure warning. Lost power assisted steering. There are hundreds of similar complaints on car web sites. This failure mode was an issue for a narrowly scoped recall in 2015/16. Obviously the problem is more wide spread and a recall must be issued for this lethal to driver and others condition.
On two occasions my 2015 Chevrolet Colorado has lost all power steering assist and stability traction control. On both occasions I was on a highway traveling b/w 50-55 mph. Warning lights came on that I had no power steering assist and to be cautious. I had no power steering and had to manually steer to a safe are. After turning the vehicle off and back on, the power steering assist came back. During the incident steering g was difficult and could have led to an accident.
While driving at speed traction control or stability (t/c) dash deactivation warning lite and audio warning activate, total loss of power steering. Driving on city street ,under speed limit pulling a lightly loaded trailer in a straight line. Managed to pull the truck to the side of the road. Turned off truck checked under the hood nothing was out of place start up everything normal. 3 days later same thing driving in a straight line into a "round about" warning lite and audio warning activate came close to not making the "round about" exit this time without a trailer in tow. Shut truck off once on side of road restart everything return to normal. I took truck to my chevy dealer no codes were found. There was a closed recall for this issue. Manager said this truck was recalled and fixed but not while I own it. Dealer took no action since it was ok then and no codes. I'm to bring it back if it in the failed mode. Purchased in Nov 2015 used with 2000+ miles now has 42524 miles on it. With little warning steering goes from power to almost impossible.
