36 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/03/2020

This is the second occurrence of the problem I am going to describe. What occurred today was a loss of power steering while taking a right turn off of a side street onto a cross street into traffic. It was extremely difficult to complete the turn, and caused a dangerous situation where I almost crossed the lane into oncoming traffic. Upon straightening the vehicle out I noticed a electronic stability control warning message, then as I continued to drive to look for a safe place to stop, a no power steering message came on stating to drive safely or something to that effect. After I found a location to park, I repeatedly turned the car off and on in hopes of re-setting the systems. This did not have any affect on the faults and the messages remained. I also noticed when I reversed the vehicle , the back up screen gave me a message that there are no projection lines. I slowly drove the vehicle home the rest of the way while "muscling" it around turns. Approximately thirty minutes after I had arrived home, I restarted my vehicle and all systems worked correctly with no warning messages displayed. I had mentioned this was the second time this has occurred, the first time was about three months prior to this incident. I thought that I had accidentally turned the electronic stability control off or something. This instance the vehicle reset after I turned it off and restarted it. To note is this vehicle is extremely well maintained and in very good condition.

41 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/30/2019

While driving at highway speeds an audible warning came on along with a service power steering and a service stabilitrack message. All power steering was lost and the truck became extremely difficult to control. I was able to pull to the side of the road. Power steering returned after a power cycle of the car. However the same failure happened during my next trip, again at highway speeds. I was lucky that this happened on a straight section of freeway both times as the truck is practically uncontrollable when this happened. A review of this issue on the internet reveals that a recall has been issued for this issue. However, it starts with vehicles manufactured in January 2016, but this vehicle was manufactured one month before the recall effective period.

Electric steering was disabled and I had extreme difficulty with turning left or right. This is the same recall as gm 15595. Turning the vehicle off and on resolves the issue temporarily. Now it is happening more and more and I do not feel safe with my family in the vehicle.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/03/2019

I was on my why home coming up to a red light. I was at a crawl when service stabilitrak came up on my screen. I lost all power steering, so it was difficult to turn the vehicle at any speed. 46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 09/28/2019

Experienced a failure of the steering system (power assist stopped working) first on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at approximately 35 mph speed; and subsequently on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at approximately 65 mph; then, on Monday September 30, 2019 and Tuesday October 1, 2019. The vehicle is currently with dealer where it was purchased. Two warning lights appeared each time the steering failure occurred. Also, two messages display in the digital display within the "dashboard": 1. Service power steering (drive with care) 2. Service stabilitrak vehicle steering immediately compromised, very difficult to steer with dangerous change in effort required to steer, loss of control due to steering change. In each case, slowed speed to adjust to changed steering condition. Upon researching this defect, see many references and documentation to exact same conditions and defect described here. Manufacturer (Chevrolet/gm) has acknowledged equipment defect - with recall, but not yet for VIN of my vehicle - appealing this here/now due to multiple reports of defect to same year, type vehicles not recognized by Chevrolet/gm yet with appeal for confirmation to recall this and similar vehicles (2015 Chevrolet Colorado).

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 06/28/2019

I was turning through a busy intersection and as I completed my turn and came to a stop the engine shut down. Prior to making the turn the engine felt like it was going to stall out and quit running. I have experienced the sluggish idle before but it never shut down like it did today. A google search revealed that Chevrolet has a technical sb, 16-na-284 that says a reprogram of the computer is required to correct the problem. In my opinion this is a safety issue. I was fortunate to have completed my turn before it quit running but someone else may not even be aware of the situation putting themselves at risk if it would happen to quit during the turn with oncoming traffic.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 06/26/2019

Power steering on my 2015 chevy Colorado as well as stable track goes out intermittently. It can happen when I'm driving or starting the car. Turning the vehicle off and on again usually fixes the issue temporarily. Took the vehicle to the mechanic and codes co545, u0420, b1325 and u04135 which are the steering wheel torque sensor, invalid data received from power steering control module, control module power current voltage below threshold, and invalid data received from brake control module. The truck is barely 4 years old and to replace the part will be 2300. It is exhibiting the same issues as the recall in 2016 and searching around I find more people having the same issues.

52 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 04/10/2019

My truck rang 3 times and a prompt showed up on the dash saying service power steering and loss of stabilitrack. I was sitting at the drive thru and had to pull straight into a parking spot because turning the vehicle became pretty much impossible. My truck only has 30,000 miles on it.

53 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/22/2019

Power steering failure. My 2015 chevy Colorado truck, with 41,153 miles, had a power steering failure 4 days ago (March 22, 2019). While traveling on a dry, smooth road at 30 mph and while braking, the stabilitrak "off" warning light came on, as well as a power steering assist warning. There was an immediate loss of power steering, and the steering wheel was very hard to turn. Initially I thought the truck had stalled, but it had not. I was able to make 2 right-hand turns at slow speed to get out of traffic and into a parking lot. I had to use a lot of muscle to steer the vehicle into the lot. I turned off the truck then restarted and the warning lights were off and power assist returned to normal operation. I have not had any problems with the truck until this episode. I checked the VIN number against a recall list and there is no current recall for this vehicle (that I'm aware of). I've placed a call to the chevy dealer service manager and I'm a waiting for a return call. In the meantime my wife is afraid to drive the vehicle, and I keep both hands on the steering wheel wondering if it'll happen again under less favorable circumstances.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 02/10/2019

I was driving down the road at approx 30 mph and the power steering cut off and warning lights went on about service power steering. Complete loss of power steering, barely made it to side of road. I turned the car off and on and the power steering came back on. Luckily I was going straight down the highway when it happened. About 2 weeks later the same thing happened, I was driving about 30mph and the power steering cut out and the warning light came on. I barely able to pull to side of road and turned truck off, turned it back on and power steering came back. Again I was lucky to just be going straight down the same highway. I took the vehicle to chevy dealer in cerritos(penske) and they said they could not get the power steering to fail(I think its crazy to try because that could cause a major accident) after doing research online several other 2015 chevy Colorado trucks having exact same issue, and they are covered by a recall but mine is not listed in the recall. Why isn't mine included in the recall with the exact same problems?! I suspect chevy is being cheap and not wanting to pay, very sad because this problem is so dangerous!.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 01/26/2019

While accelerating on the freeway from approximately 65mph, the stability control system engaged and took control of the acceleration of the vehicle. Roads were dry without ice, snow or rain. The stability control reduced power until the engine died even while pressing the accelerator to the floor. The engine would not restart for approximately 5 minutes. This occurred 3 times on different interstates on a trip. We were forced to carefully move to the right shoulder while our vehicle was slowing until the engine died. My wife and I were lucky we were not involved in a serious accident. Onstar notifications sent the following in an email, "an issue with the engine and transmission system in your 2017 Chevrolet Colorado has been detected. Please service your vehicle within 7 days. ".

56 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 01/12/2019

While driving two different alarms flashes on dash screen; 1) "service stabilitrak" and 2) "service power steering, drive with care. " vehicle then lose power steering. I have learned that if I pull over, stop and turn vehicle off and then back on the alarms clear and I have power steering once again. I have noticed this situation while driving on flat highway and when vehicle is a little off balance such as on a dirt road. I have taken to the dealer, explained situation and referred dealer to comments online. Dealer stated the alarm history is clear and therefore they have no idea what to do. I purchased vehicle around September 2018 from dealer and this situation has happened approximately 18 times over 4 months or so. It has alarmed, I've cleared it and then alarm again in the same hour. It has also gone weeks without alarming. .

57 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/03/2018

As I was driving my vehicle home from work, my vehicle lost acceleration and the stabiltrax warning came on. I had to pull off of the highway as fast as I could due to the fact that the speed was 75 and my vehicle was decelerating very quickly. I turned my car off momentarily and it magically became normal other then the check engine light staying on. I only have 41000 miles on my truck, so there is no reason why it should be messing up already! from the looks of the research I have done, this is a common occurrence on this yea,r make, and model of this truck. It runs great some days and causes me to have to pull over multiple times other days. Very frustrating!.

58 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Electrical power failure while driving. Vehicle power shut off (2 seconds or so) as I was approaching stop light then came back on. 63 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 08/10/2018

While driving the vehicle has lost power steering assist and stabilitrak intermittently on multiple occasions. Alerts flash on the screen and warning lights illuminate and ofcourse the steering will jerk back from a turn (if you're actively in one). Fortunately, I have taken photos in the past and actually had it occur on my way to an oil change today. They checked the code it comes back to "c0545" which can be found on gm bulletin "pit5437b" that identifies this problem back in September 2015. The cherolet service technician who diagnosed this on my vehicle informed my service department adviser that the vehicle is not safe with the problem, which of course was relayed back to me. So, if a problem chevy identified in 9/15 makes a vehicle unsafe to operate, why does Chevrolet want me to pay $1700 + tax instead of including my vehicle in the recall that addressed the same issue (NHTSA campaign number: 16v054000)?.

64 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 08/07/2018

Without warning the service power steering message appears and immediately there is a loss of steering. It is extremely difficult to turn. When stopped and the ignition is turned off the system sometimes resets back to normal. Also without warning the message service stabiltrak comes on. In this mode the truck pulls extremely to the hard to the left. This happened 4 times within an hour at all various speeds on open country roads. I've read gm has recalled 2015 Colorado's for same problem (gm15595). Why haven't they included 2016? I've read the repair costs about $1700. 00. This is an extremely dangerous problem and needs to be addressed.

65 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado
