1 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 06/12/2015

I became trapped inside this late model Corvette. I opened, entered, sat in and simply closed the unlocked drivers door of this car located in the for sale section of the carmax store in waukesha WI. The doors locked approximately 1 minute after entry. All attempts to unlock via the unlocking door switch and interior door lock stem at interior door sill failed to unlock and grant exit. A female store visitor flagged a female sales associate 5 minutes later to unlock the vehicle and open the door. Oxygen levels decreased rapidly in its windows up/doors closed configuration. I was in a near panic state. I was fortunate temperatures were in the 60's and cloud cover was high. I feared for my safety and believe fatal consequence can easily result from this engineering defect.

2 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

My gm service request numberb is:71-1397351938. The automatic gear selector lever occasionaly got stuck in park (p) and took a long dangerous time to get it worked loose and functioning properly. I lived with it for several months, but it got progessively much worse and more dangerous. I spoke to other Corvette owners and found out that I had a common safty problem for my model. I finally took the car to the dealer that sold it to me (mountain view Chevrolet) who said they had seen a lot of this defect and they then charged me nearly $600 to correct this dangerous defect. Not right!!!! it should have been recalled from the get-go and fixed promptly without charge. Unable to move in traffic, get out of the way of danger, or off of railway tracks is a potential killer. Ther should be a safty recall.

3 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/06/2013

According to Corvette forum, this is another widespread problem- the harmonic-balancer becomes warped and requires replacement. . . If not done timely, other "parts" could be negatively impacted as well. . .

4 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

Computer message: service active handling. Per gm need part #26058286 steering position sensor which is discontinued for 1999/2000 Corvettes. They still make this part for all other model years including for 1997-98 Corvettes. This could cause the traction control system to apply the brakes and/or perform other functions, when it shouldn't, causing erractic unsafe driving conditions. I am afraid to drive it and cannot sell it as is.

5 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/14/2012

My service active handling system warning came on abruptly. This the second time this happened in the last 2 years. The first incident was handled by my local dealer. Supposedly, it was a TSB which required replacing a clip at an electrical coupling. This was reportedly the solution to this problem. This most recent incident occurred 500 miles from home and has me worried that a serious malfunction of my braking system may occur. I do have an appointment for service on June 4 2012 for this recurring issue. There have been reports of abrupt and inadvertant braking occurring at highway speeds with loss of vehicle control. Help would be appreciated. Thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/11/2012

While driving on I-275 I first experienced a muffled noise in the car that sounded like wind. The car was not holding the road as it usually does and the rear swayed a bit. Next, there was a sound like a thump. My dashboard lit up like a christmas tree with a warning that traction control was not working and that I should seek immediate repair. Next, the vehicle lost a lot of its power and decelerated rather suddenly form 70 to approx 45 mph. Car had no energy or pep and light said engine power loss. Fortunately nobody was behind me when the deceleration occurred. I exited the expressway and was just few miles from hotel and parked it. Had it towed the next day to a dealer in tampa. Do not yet know diagnosis on the car. Will probably hear tomorrow. But it was a real shock to have this happen so suddenly and the deceleration was sudden and if car had been behind me it could have been a problem.

7 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 10/07/2010

Active handling warning light came on and the car suddenly pulled to the right with no warning and put the right front brake on.

8 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 08/21/2005

I was driving my 2002 Chevrolet Corvette coupe about 30 mph and the right front wheel locked up. The display on the instrument cluster read "active handling". This has actually happened 4 times now. Luckily I was only moving at a steady speed at about 30-35 mph. Had I been driving down the freeway at 70 mph, I may have wrecked the car injuring or killing myself as well as possibly anyone else involved. For now I have to turn off the active handling to prevent this from happening.
