Equipment Problems of Chevrolet Corvette - part 1

The retractable headrest on the folding hard top convertible broke so it does not retract appropriately to allow the folding motion to close the roof to occur. It requires sticking your hand inside the roof while trying to close it and pulling it out fast. Internet searches have revealed others had the same issue with a cable breaking. My vehicle has less than 12k miles and top has only been retracted a handful of times.

We have a water leak that was coming in both windows and onto the floor. Since reported it the car will slow down while driving because of codes issues about the doors are not closed and it is. I feel it's due to the water leak that is coming into the car. Took the car to a Chevrolet dealer in columbia south carolina and they said it was coming from the roof weather stripping. They said it wasn't a recall for the 2020 c8 Corvette Corvette yet. Also called gm customer care to see if I can get some help to get it fixed. No luck.

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette equipped with silver's north America neomax coil-overs. The contact stated that while driving through a parking garage at less than 10 mph, there was an abnormal popping sound coming from the vehicle after driving over a speed bump. The rear driver’s side of the vehicle lowered as the subframe detached from the vehicle. Due to the failure the vehicle remained stuck in the parking garage because the vehicle could not be towed out of the parking garage. The contact also stated that the vehicle could not be moved without causing further damage to it. The contact stated that the vehicle became an obstruction to the other motorist entering the parking garage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and an agent attempted to assist the contact; however, the agent stated that any attempts to move the vehicle could be dangerous and cause more damage to the vehicle. The part was not yet replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

Sometimes (intermittently), when I push the start button to start the car, it just makes a "click" sound, the car does not start and the steering wheel will lock and all other functions of the car will be disabled. "check colum lock" will be displayed on the screen. I have to take a battery cable off to reset the software before I can once again start and drive the car.

Battery drain causing none start,codes,having to disconnect negative wire on the battery terminal to reset. Car is currently on 21000 miles recently purchased vehicle July 2, 2025. It’s been in the shop multiple times for a month and a half still having the same electrical issues.

My fiancé, [xxx] died on [xxx], while driving his 2023 Chevrolet Corvette z06 convertible . He was passing another car on a straight road ,a witness confirmed he was not speeding excessively. Suddenly, he lost control of the vehicle, crashed, and the car burst into flames. I’ve since learned that gm issued a recall for this model due to fuel spillage and fire risk. Other owners have reported transmission and instrument panel failures. I believe a defect in the vehicle may have caused or contributed to [xxx] ’s death. I am requesting a formal investigation into this incident and the safety of the 2023 Corvette z06. I am also pursuing legal action to hold gm accountable. Developed fuel leak above left side tank coming from known faulty fuel pump connector elbow at top of tank. Extreme gas fumes prevent parking in garage for fear of vapors igniting causing an explosion. Can not rule out possibility of drips or spray hitting hot exhaust. Will be seeking repair ASAP as this is not safe to drive or park in enclosed environment.

The ac compressor has had to be replaced twice since new ownership ( 38k miles now) the compressor blows apart at higher rpm causing car to be towed would need to contact dealer for exact dates.

While I was on vacation in gatlinburg TN my vehicle parked in my home garage turned on by itself producing carbon monoxide in my property I reached out numerous times to gm and they failed to do anything about it. I have footage please assist thanks.

Periodically the instrument cluster(speed, tach and other gauges) goes black. When this happens you have know knowledge of any information about the vehicle speed, etc. . This lasts a variety length of times, but no longer that about 1minute. The instrument cluster then reappears, but usually will go out again in a few minutes. A message appears, "service instrument cluster'" this will happens 4 or 5 times in a period of around 10 minutes then it will never happen again the rest of the current drive. This may not happen again for a couple of months of driving then it does it again.

My entire garage is filled with gas fumes after I filled my car up to full yesterday. I drive my car once every 2 weeks and this is filling my garage with fumes. There are no visible leaks, there is a technical service bulletin regarding a gas tank issue that expired. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? unknown, the vehicle is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I could smell gas fumes from inside my garage door. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? it will be tomorrow. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? not yet. Haven't got that far. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? appeared today, drove for 2 hours each direction yesterday after a 75% tank fill.

Hi there have 2024 c8 Corvette purchased new in April 2024. Vehicle interior is the tan leather including the dash board. Due to the light color, sunlight reflects off of the dash cover causing severe glare and visibility. The hud display makes it worse. (fyi: our other vehicle has a black dash and hud with no problems or issues) have already had 2 incidents where , while making right turns from a stop, almost hit pedestrians. Passenger (wife), saw pedestrians from her angle and I was able to stop. When the sun refracts just right washing out momentarily line of sight. I have seen other persons on the Corvette forums complain about similar issues and supposedly, gm is aware of this since 2021?. I installed and flat black soft dash cover to minimize the glare and reflections, but this is only a temporary fix. If gm installed flat black dash covers while keeping the other interior colors the same. It should be fine. Recommend for a permanent fix, either replace the light dash covers or have a leather material slip on facade as and upgrade.

Earlier in the year I called gm about getting my navigation updated. I ask when the next update would made current. I was told it would probably be in may. I decided to wait until then and it would be more accurate. When I called, they told me that gm had decided not to furnish a new update. I then tried to order one for last year and they could not update that either. I was willing to pay for it. With all the changes in highway's, it is dangerous to try to use it. They sold me the navigation and then made it obsolete. They did bluetooth the radio but not the navigation. This is a safety hazard, and I feel the least they could do is charge me for the update and furnish it. It is still accurate except for new streets and there are a lot of changes. Help!.

The hands free talk button on steering wheel is only available if general motors is paid a monthly ransom. This is a safety issue.

Multiple rim cracks due to manufacturing error. General motors had acknowledged this but not made reimbursement possible nor provided information if defective rims are still being produced. My car was inspected and rim was repaired by a chevy dealer and confirmed to have a cracked rim in several spots deemed not due to road damage or driver error. Wheel issues can pose an extreme safety threat as a crack in the rim could make the tire unstable thus creating unsafe driving conditions … cracks in rims can be hard to see at all as well.

The infotainment system (radio) on my 2017 Chevrolet grand sport Corvette suddenly and without warning malfunctioned/failed on or around in 2023, whereby the eight inch screen on the infotainment system went completely black/blank, whereby my radio produced no audio sound nor allowed me the ability to view the screen (on the infotainment system) while placing my vehicle in reverse-which is very useful when having to place the vehicle in reverse. I personally believe that during the period (2023 thru most of 2024) in which my infotainment system was not working properly, that my safety and/or the safety of others was placed at risk due to being unable to use/view the rearview camera while placing my car in reverse. In August of 2024, I reached out to Chevrolet customer assistance center (by writing a letter) this matter and requesting financial assistance to repair my infotainment system. I submitted verification with my letter, that the matter I was writing about was "a well known issue/problem" as reported by Corvette magazine (which I subscribe to) and with computer prints/verification(s) of discussions in Corvette enthusiasts internet chat rooms, whereby several Corvette owners also reported having issues/problems with their infotainment system malfunctioning. Chevrolet customer assistance center replied to my letter and agreed to reimburse me for half of the $1700 required to repair the radio/infotainment system. . Genesis Chevrolet in eastpointe, mi. Completed the repair of my infotainment system.

Doors will not open inside or outside on push button on arm rest. Emergency personnel will not be able to extricate you from vehicle if an accident happens. From inside there is an emergency handle to let you out but during a wreck you may be disabled and not remember the emergency handle. The palm handle push button does not work from outside.

Smell of raw gasoline coming from drivers side gas tank area after filling gas tank ,just bought the car had half tank of gas at the dealer didn’t smell when I checked the car then.

The backup camera display will occasionally not display what is behind the vehicle (the screen is blank with a strange icon in the middle of it). This is not a consistent problem. It sometimes works, and sometimes it doesn't. I almost backed over a child who wasn't visible. In my research this problem also happens to other gm vehicles.

Chevy c7 Corvettes have an issue with the center screen that project he backup camera. Due to the screen retracts, the cabling wears out and causes the camera to flicker or go blank. It seems the part to repair has been discontinued. This represents a safety hazard for all c7 Corvettes since the part is label discontinued and the camera is much needed to back to car up safely without causing injury or property damage.

Vet delivered 5/31/22. I noticed that the daylight driving lights came on when it was dark and headlights came on during the day, completely backwards when vehicle headlights switched to "auto" . Took vehicle to dealership and they replaced the dash light sensor but this did't fix the problem. Dealership notified Chevrolet regarding the problem. Went to the web page titled Corvetteforum. Com and noticed other '23 Corvette owners with the same problem. It's been almost 6 months with "no" word from Chevrolet as to when this issue will be resolved.

The service active handling and the traction control error is appearing on my cars instrument panel. Causing the cars abs system to activate the front brakes while driving. This reaction causes the car to pull to the left, nearly causing an accident. It has random affected my car here recently. In that years that I have owned the car I have not had an issue. However, I see that this issue has been widely reported on this generation. Although I don’t see a recall for this issue. I do see that this is very dangerous. I feel lucky that this did not happen as I was traveling at a higher rate of speed or I probably would have wrecked the car.

This is a safety concern when I start my car and can not put it in reverse. This in todays world of violence and crime everywhere is truly a safety concern for women stuck in a car that you can not get out of park. The shift is stuck in park and will not move in any other position. Looking on the web this is a known problem on many 2005 and 2006 Corvette's for years. This has happened to many times to count.

Traction control alarm and goes into active handling very difficult to steer our control usually happens when going through corner. Chevy does know this happens there is a number here for their investigation or problem ea09-002.

This vehicle has a strong odor of gasoline from the rear of the vehicle. There are no signs of fuel on the ground where the vehicle is parked. I understand that this was the subject of another gm special coverage adjustment 15682. I am concerned that the vehicle may catch fire and cause damage to person and property.

Vehicle : 2019 grand sport Corvette here’s what happened on or about oct 14, 2021 I was driving on a multi-lane highway in an 50 mph zone, when the following occurred: -brakes suddenly slammed full-on, then immediately released …e. G. , on/off in 0. 25 of a second -windshield-wipes made one swish across the windshield -dashboard switched over to night mode -hands-free phone button lights on steering wheel turned off and would not function -hands-free phone function on display screen would not function properly -false maintenance warnings appeared on dash-display e. G. Have rear axle checked and have restraint system checked -I stopped the car and turned it off. When I restarted the car everything was normal again! note: this car does not have any automated braking systems. Gm canada and the gm dealership have been unable to determine the cause of the above incident nor duplicate in during road-tests.

My car and lots of other peoples Corvettes are locking in park unable to shift into gear.

Right rear rim cracked for the third time on my car. I noticed a slow leak after driving for about an hour earlier in the day. I get back in my car after a round of golf and notice that the right rear tire is low on air pressure. This is the third time I've had a cracked rim. I don't abuse my car, as this is a limited edition c7r, one of 500 made for the us market. My dealer admits that the rims are defective but says they can't do anything about it because gm says the rims aren't defective. Even though my car is only five years old with less than 36,000 miles on it, gm no longer makes these rims and none are available nationwide, so I'm forced to go to a aluminum wheel repair shop to get my rim fixed as there is no alternative. The original rim cracked, the $1,000 oem replacement rim cracked (in the same place), and now the original rim repaired has cracked (again in the same area just next to where it was repaired).

Driver's door release not working again after being repaired years ago. Cannot leave car without using the emergency release lever.

On this car there is no way to manually open the convertible top in the down position. The spot where there is a hole depicted in the car manual where a button to push to manually open the top is missing. I view this as a safety problem.
