Equipment Problems of Chevrolet Corvette - part 2

Shifter assembly does not operate properly. The shifter locks and will not move from park to reverse or neutral or drive. Therefore, the car is inoperable. Many suggestions are to override such lockout mechanism however this creates a major safety issue. The car was at dealership, and they could not resolve problem, nor could they locate a replacement shifter assembly. I believe gm’s lack of providing parts, TSB or other remediations for this well-known issue will result in owners creating an unsafe vehicle and overriding the safety lockout that is not working. Therefore, I strongly would like NHTSA to launch an investigation.

Without the ability to search a database for TSB implementation, I have no way to determine if my used car purchase has been fixed per the manufacturer recommendation outlined in the TSB. On my particular vehicle, I am not able to ascertain if the fuel leak issue was repaired!! TSB implementation needs to be handled similar to safety recalls to prevent serious problems for unsuspecting used car buyers.

When taking the car out of park, the shifter is stuck, you have to turn the car back off and then on to get it to release sometime it take 2-3 times repeating for it to disengage. Also, the battery drains if it started every week. This car only has 36,000 miles is not drive but on nice days.

Strong smell of gasoline after fueling the car, strong smell in the garage where the vehicle is parked. Smell is even present when driving with an open window.

Vehicle will not shift out of park.

Twice this month I filled up my gas tank and both times I can smell the gas fumes in my car and when parked in garage, it smells really bad of gas fumes.

The lcd which shows the rear view camera started flickering and now is completely black. I bought the vehicle in Dec. Of 2013 and only have less than 5000 miles on it. A little research on the internet has shown me that it is a chronic problem for this year of Corvette.

We recently purchased the car and it is a convertible and we cant get the top working at all. We took it where we purchased it and they don't have a clue how to fix it. This is the second thing that was wrong. We got the fuel pump leak repaired. We cant enjoy the car if the top doesn't work. It doesn't make sense to pay for something if you cant enjoy it.

My 2016 Corvette with 13000 + miles has been in the shop with the � service rear axle light � on despite several attempts to fix it. After several trips to the service department they have been unsuccessful. This past week, I was notified by (service supervisor) that they have exhausted all efforts in the attempt to fix my car. I now have to wait for an engineer to be dispatched physically to look into this issue . According to service supervisor , this can take several weeks. I have looked at the internet and have found several Corvette owners having/ experiencing the same problem. Is gm looking into this ? does gm know what the problem is so they can share it here locally ? why cant my local dealership fix my problem despite working with gm engineers? what are my options? this light seems to come on on first starts or after being off for hours.

The stitching on the dash and the leather around the airbag is coming apart.

Rear differential assembly per gm's service bulletin 13384 "summary: the rear differential assembly in certain 2014 Chevrolet Corvettes were shipped with improper fluid levels. Operating the vehicle without sufficient fluid in the rear differential assembly could produce a loud whine and/or gear or bearing noise. " these vehicles were then topped off with fluid and some still had noises present requiring differential assemblies to be replaced however the issue persists. Dealers and the manufacter were telling customers the "warble" sound they hear is just due to engine noise/vibration and the cylinder deactivation. Now that vehicles are out of warranty the issue is that differentials internals are beyond repair and need replacing. Gm has choosen not to issue a standard recall, even the previously mentioned 2014 models were notified, handled at dealers, and put a stop sale on vehicles for the issue but they ended that program 11/30/2015. Vehicles that experience the issue will commonly have a warning indicator saying "service rear axle" or "rear axle system off" pop up indicating where the issue is. Common checks include fluid level, battery connection, controller/sensor plug connections and more. Vehicles that experience this issue can lose ability to control their vehicle at speed or have their drive axles lock up while moving causing injuries, fatalities, and more avoidable damages.

2005 Corvette, auto transmission shifter stuck and can not get out of park - problem can happen anywhere w/o any warning: in traffic, parking, dangerous problem.

I was sold a non-fedral emissions compliant car and the dealer will not do anything about it. Please see the attached pdf file.

As of December 2018, all cars with navigation systems that have an incorporated clock, clocks stopped working, the reason is supposably due to a change in the government satellite technology. So there is no way to correct this without a software fix, this problem is not only on the 2006 Corvette, but many other cars as well.

Twice today my 2005 Corvette temporarily locked its front left brake followed by giving me an "service active handleing" message. First time on the freeway after hitting a bump and 2nd going about 40mph. Both times driving straight. After turning car off and on the message was gone. This is a serious issue and the dealers seem to deny any common issue with this although iv seen thousands of posts on the matter from other owners.

Intermittently, the car will not shift out of park. It's an automatic transmission. There are hundreds (thousands?) of people reporting the same issue on Corvette forums. Vehicle is stationary. Many people report paying over $700 to replace the ignition lock solenoid switch. Appears to be a faulty design in the part to have this many people reporting the same issue.

Gear shift release button locks and operator is unable to shift vehicle back into park or even reverse at times. Vehicle may also get stuck in reverse and not be able to go back into park nor drive. Issue has happened several times and makes vehicle undriveable due to this malfunction.

When using telescoping steering wheel the active handling light a came on and the car pulled hard to the left into oncoming traffic lane while driving . I had never used the telescoping sterling wheel feature prior to this .

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that the passenger's side rear wheel was fractured. The contact became aware of the failure when the tire started to losing air. The vehicle was taken to vandevere Chevrolet (1490 vernon odom blvd, akron, OH 44320) where the wheel was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

Took the car in for a chatter noise at idle and when stationary. I'm told that the torque tube needs to be replaced, the car only has 27,000 miles and it seems that this is a very dangerous thing to have happen if it fails why you are driving it and it causes major damage to the rest of the drive train. It is a major part of the drive train and an obvious defect with the Corvettes as noted in the forums. A recall is in order and chevorlet needs to step up to the plate and repair these to make this car safer before some one is seriously injured. The repair is very expensive at around 3,000. A repair that should never need to be done on a low mileage car.

My automatic shifter jammed in the d location and would only go to neutral and would not go into reverse or park, and the doors would not open with the button, this shifter has jammed in park in the past. This car only has 26k miles on it. And is not driven in bad weather. Not a good feeling to be traped in your car.

Complaint number : 11062105 I'm adding the results dealership found damages as follows;lee forrest jud kuhn chevy calvin norton 2014 chevy vette stock # 2939a fuel leak rear diff hello calvin the car is torn down. It looks like the bypass tube seal was/is leaking. Also on driver side tank the filler neck tube appears to have collapsed that would cause leak upon fill up. Gm has turned down initially the warranty request. We have submitted to our district manager for further review. You are welcome to stop by and look at car. On 12/07/2017 I purchased a 2014 chev. Corvettette c7 model (white) from jud kuhn Chevrolet 3740 hwy. 9 east, little river SC. On 01/02/2018 said Corvette was stationary when I noticed a substantial amount of differential oil leakage underneath the driver door and right rear tire area. I took a photo dated and notified dealership for service after snow storm cleared. In luie, mechanical preliminary review shown a differential oil leaks on right rear axel seal at the rear end and gas/fuel right side leaks at top of gas tank. Dealer told me differential was under warranty, however trying to get me to cover fuel leak cost. Under a federal mangous law, such issues are consider safety manufacture defects in having regards to fuel and rear end. Gm and Chevrolet are liable, likewise I contend the dealership should have not hide these damages from me during the sell. If the vehicle went through a certified inspection,some mechanic should have detected such problems. Car is still in shop , mechanic claims 14hrs job and will call me to see damages at fuel upon it being torn down for review. I have attached a photo of gas and oil leakages. I hereby request a preliminary investigation and enforce compliance on all parties to repair vehicle and recall such safety issues. My vehicle when turning slowly clicks and pops like the wheel is about to come off. The dealer said its a normal sound thats made when turning, I have reported this problem twice to my dealership. . .

2006 Chevrolet Corvette. Consumer states that while driving 30 mph the active handling system engaged and the front end of vehicle began to shake. The consumer stated the dealer could not duplicate the failure.

The gm navigation system does not recognize the roundabout at the entrance to my neighborhood. This roundabout was completed in 2011, 5 years before my Corvette was built. I submit that the Corvette navigation system is faulty since it suggests I turn left onto old hundred road which is the wrong way on the roundabout, I submit that this fault is a safety issue.

Car gets stuck in gear, cannot shift into reverse, drive etc. Control part#25913058 (gm) very dangerous if in traffic and put car I neutral and can't get it out of gear with cars speeding by. Chevrolet refuses to reimburse for parts and labor. Mileage-29,994.

Could not shift (auto trans) out of park vehicle is 10 year old, 3,974 miles, never been in rain, kept in climate control environment.

I have a 2005 Corvette and when getting on it my back wheel feels like its going to lock up I read something about this and has something to do with my propelling steering wheel and almost put me in a wall and I heard this is going on a lot.
