1 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 09/13/2020

The electric power-steering assist is failing while the vehicle is in motion. I lose power steering and have to use more effort to maintain the steering direction. This happens unexpectedly, and may lead to a crash, at any speeds. I was driving on the highway when this happened. When this happens, I see a warning message on the dashboard stating the power-steering assist failed, drive with caution and the steering is all non-power steering. When I stop the car, and turn the power off, and re-start the car, the power steering works again for a short period of time, and then fails again. This is extremely dangerous. I cannot find any recalls on my car VIN # for this issue, however, I do see a NHTSA campaign number: 19v086. Gm's own number for this recall is n182182760 on other gm vehicles with this same dangerous issue.

2 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/26/2018

After driving for 20 min at local street speed 30-45 mph completely lost my power steering. Dash showed power steering drive safely. Almost hit another car as I was making a turn. Got it home and parked, restarted an hour later an it was working. No leaks or warnings, very scary and dangerous.

3 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 07/31/2014

On this day, I was driving on the highway going about 100 mph (german autobahn) when the vehicle for no apparent reason decided to lock up the brakes. I also lost power steering. Luckily there were no cars around me. The "service active handling" sensor has been on and off since then and I am looking at getting it looked at tomorrow. I have just read forums of other 2005-2008 Corvettes having this similar problem. Is there anything I can do about getting this car serviced? I am in germany and I have yet to find a Corvette mechanic. Would appreciate any advice. Thank you.
