My 2009 Corvette has an increasing fuel smell emanating from my Corvette's driver side rear wheel well. The fuel vapor smell is so strong that can create a dangerous situation when the car is park in the garage where my gas hot water heater is located. After researching the issue, I've come across numerous reports of covette c6 owners reporting the same issue. The consensus seems to be that hairline cracks develop on the top of the fuel tanks causing fuel to leak on and down the side of the tank. Obviously this could lead to a serious fire hazard if it were to leak on to the vehicles exhaust. With the amount of c6 owners reporting this same issue and the potential for extreme fire hazard, I feel that general motors should address the issue. I am the original owner ofthe car and never been informed by general motors about a recall or a repair to correct the problem. I hope that filing this report will help getting this problem corrected.

For the last couple weeks, I've noticed an increasing fuel smell emanating from my Corvette's driver side rear wheel well. The fuel vapor smell is now at the point where I need to park my vehicle outside. With the amount of c6 owners reporting this same issue and the potential for extreme fire hazard, I feel that gm should address the issue.
On 12/07/2017 I purchased a 2014 chev. Corvettette c7 model (white) from jud kuhn Chevrolet 3740 hwy. 9 east, little river SC. On 01/02/2018 said Corvette was stationary when I noticed a substantial amount of differential oil leakage underneath the driver door and right rear tire area. I took a photo dated and notified dealership for service after snow storm cleared. In luie, mechanical preliminary review shown a differential oil leaks on right rear axel seal at the rear end and gas/fuel right side leaks at top of gas tank. Dealer told me differential was under warranty, however trying to get me to cover fuel leak cost. Under a federal mangous law, such issues are consider safety manufacture defects in having regards to fuel and rear end. Gm and Chevrolet are liable, likewise I contend the dealership should have not hide these damages from me during the sell. If the vehicle went through a certified inspection, some mechanic should have detected such problems. Car is still in shop , mechanic claims 14hrs job and will call me to see damages at fuel upon it being torn down for review. I have attached a photo of gas and oil leakages. I hereby request a preliminary investigation and enforce compliance on all parties to repair vehicle and recall such safety issues. Ive reviewed hundreds of online complaints regarding the same issues I have but there has been no official recalls. My name is calvin norton 910-840-1352,p. O. Fuel leaking from around fuel tank. Possibly from fuel pump area. Strong gas smell fills garage over night. Gas can also be smelt inside of the car while driving. This happens regardless of the amount of fuel in the gas tank, but is more noticeable when tank is 1/2 or more full.
After filling the fuel tank and driving, a strong gas smell filled the passenger compartment. This continued the rest of the day. It is now parked in the garage, and the garage smells like fuel. We put about 75 miles on the car on mountain roads here in arizona.

Car parked in the garage and next morning, I smell gasoline order coming around gas filler neck and inside the car. I look under the car and found small amount of gasoline coming from the top of the tank.
My 2008 Corvette started smelling of fuel whenever I filled it up. It gradually got worse over the years. The garage would reek. I took it to the dealership and they said the driver's side gas tank is leaking and it would cost me about $3,000 to have it changed out. My vette only has 52,000 miles on it. I was not ready to spend that amount so I brought it home. Now it has gotten so bad with the gasoline smell that I am afraid to drive it. I also am afraid to park it in our garage that has a gas water heater in it. This is a huge defect and these cars should be recalled as this is a true threat to safety. I am ready to hire an attorney for a class action lawsuit before someone's home burns down or dies. I have seen numerous online complaints just like mine about their 2008 vette. I would think gm is fully aware of this issue. Therefore if they do not act there could be blood on their hands. I love my Corvette but driving it is not worth my life. I have documentation from the dealership to share.
Strong fuel smell coming from car when the car was turned off. Smell started on the outside of the car, but eventually (over the course of a couple days) leaked into the cabin. By this time the car also smelled of fuel when on. Left car in garage for a few hours while hiking, came back and opened the garage and started coughing from all the fuel fumes. No visible liquid leaks, but the smell was very strong. I aired out the garage and parked the car outside and took it in the next day, was told the fuel pump cracked. This shouldn't happen after 7 years of low to moderate use. This was also during thanksgiving - if I had gone away for the holiday, the spark from my gas hot water heater may have caused an explosion while I was away. The amount of fuel vapor in my garage was enough to cause difficulty breathing. Also, while driving to the dealership, my father (following in another vehicle) said he smelt a strong scent of fuel whenever I stopped at a light. Considering how close the left fuel tank (where the fuel pump is located) is to the hot exhaust pipe, I'm lucky the fuel didn't leak onto the pipe and start a fire with me inside. As a side note, as soon as I described the problem to my service rep at the dealer they said this has actually been a common occurrence over the past few months for the 2008 vehicles. When I talked to the rep, there is a new part on the market that gm will replace my old, cracked part with - which tells me gm knows about this problem, and yet failed to disclose this could happen.
2004 chevy z06 Corvette has a fuel leak on top of the driver side above the fuel tank coming from the cross over tube. The plastic coupler has o-ring that I thinks has failed. I jacked the car up on my own took a bore scope up the coupler and it was cover in fuel. This vehicle has no trouble codes in the computer system. I used a snap-on modis scan tool to do a full sweep of the vehicle. The mil is not on, I think there should a evap light saying that hydrocarbons are escaping from the fuel system. Looking on line there is a lot of complains about c5 Corvette having this issue. Therefore being an automotive repair technician servicing cars for a living I feel action should be taking for the safety of the consumer, and the environment know that fuel vapors are escaping into the atmosphere. Plus with fuel leaking around the gas tank and the exhaust system running an inch and half away from it there is a potential of having a fire happen to someone valuable Corvette. The was a fuel odor long before the fuel cross over tube starting leak. At that point the gas cap on my car had fail to I replace that the fuel cap fuel smell went away. Using my snap -on modis, I was able to test the evap system and purge it with any trouble codes on or mil light being on or any issues what so ever. With the gas cap failing there should have been a po440 code stating a large evap failure code. In this case there was nothing I call my local general motors dealership they said, there should be a code to loose gas cap. I said, there was nothing and dealership was shocked. I thank you for taking the time to read my complain and hope appropriate actions to render is issue on c5 model Corvette.
