There is a strong smell of fuel coming from the vehicle. Particularly the rear drivers side. When the car is parked in a garage, the smell of fuel is pretty abundant. It is most noticable when the fuel tank is full or near full and while the smell is less intense when the tank is at lower levels, it is still present. This smell can be noticed while driving with the windows down as well, I think the air from around the vehicle gets pulled into the cockpit, during periods of driving and the only way to not have the fuel smell is to close the windows and run the climate system. I'd assume the climate control draws air in from the front if the vehicle which isn't where the smell is emitting from. I've tried cleaning everything I know how to and can safely reach, the smell of fuel doesn't go away. I also do not overfill when refueling my vehicle. Some research indicates several other owners of the same 2008 model year vehicles have had similar issues stemming from brittle plastic on the fuel pump cracking and spraying/ vaporizing fuel through these small cracks while the vehicle is running. Apparently, fuel can pool on top of the gas tank and drip down the side of the tank potentially dripping onto the hot exhaust. Obvious safety hazard.
Gas leak and smell from top of drivers side gas tank with car above half full replaced sending unit and fuel pump canister.
Stron fuel odor coming from the car when it is running or parked. Overnight, it will fill the garage with the smell of fuel which I believe is becoming a safety hazard. No noticeable leak, which leads me to believe it is located somewhere within the tank or fuel pump assembly.
Due to use of plastics that tend to crack, am now experiencing issues with fuel pump on driver's side. Driving continues to produce gas smell. Extremely complicated fix that requires dropping gas tank and possibly transmission to reach fuel pump.
Fuel vapors coming from the fuel tank ;possible crack in fuel pump spraying fuel everywhere;I can close my garage door because I can't breathe because of the gas odor. It's worse when I put ten gallons or more.

Service b. : 15682 gas smell; dealer telling me requires left fuel pump and crossover pipe and they will not pay for. This should be a recall as its very dangerous. I never got anything from chevy regarding this issue. Have had smell issues for years. Have barely driven in 2. 5 years because of issue.
My car smells like gas when its above a half tank. Once it goes below a half tank the smell is not as strong. I took it to lakeside Chevrolet in rockwall, texas and was told that it appears that seal on the fuel pump was broken causing gas to escape. I was originally told that chev would fix it at no cost to me then they called me 3 days later and told me warranty would not cover it because my cars age. Wendell, in the service dept said that chev had extended the warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles whichever came 1st because of the issues they were having with the fuel system. My car has 63,000 miles on it. I felt they should fix it but they wont unless I pay the $2500 or so.
Gasoline smell when fuel tank is above 1/2 full. Fills the garage with dangerous gas fumes when car is parked inside. This is a common problem for the 2008 Corvette. The plastic on top of the fuel pump cracks with age causing a fuel leak. Fuel then runs down side of tank onto the exhaust. A very dangerous situation! please recall!.

I own a 2011 Corvette c6 and in the last 2 months, I get a strong smell of gas that is constant. I have read threads on the Corvette forms and found this is a crack in the fuel pump and it leaks out and collects into the pan that supports the gas tank. This is very dangerous and can start a fire along with fumes in the garage and sometime gas water heaters are located in the garage. I cannot believe this is not a recall.

Wiring harness for drivers seat failed causing airbag system to be disabled. Fails at start-up. Strong fuel smell from driver's side. Vehicle stationary. Not cured by replacing gas gap and fuel pump.
I purchased the vehicle used approximately 12 months ago. Every time I fill the fuel tank there are gas fumes that come out of the top of the the driver's side fuel tank and the entire garage smells like gasoline. I am concerned my house is going to catch fire with the gas water heater in the garage and all of the gas fumes. It appears to be the connector on top off the fuel tank where the fuel pump inserts. It is my understanding gm knows about this issue. Has a recall been issued for this serious safety issue? will the manufacturer repair this problem?.
The odor of fuel can be smelled while outside and inside the vehicle. The smell is coming from the drivers side rear wheel area. Research online shows that gm used faulty fuel pumps/seals. This is a very dangerous fault.
Gas smell after fill up of tank appears to be the high pressure line from the top of the fuel pump.
Fuel pump module was leaking causing gasoline fumes. Fuel pump module assembly replaced may 2019.

Fuel leak. Can smell fuel when car is parked in garage. Fuel smell leaks into vehicle cabin and into attached house. This problem is believed to be caused by a broken fitting on the fuel pump module, located on the top of the fuel tank. Gm did a service bulletin 17469, but this only covers vehicles less than 10 years old. This problem may present itself on vehicles that are older than ten years, it just depends on how long it takes for the plastic fuel pump fitting to deteriorate.
Filled gas tank to full & had strong gas odors inside & outside vehicle. Gas & gas smell coming from exhaust when car is started & running. Dealer identified left side fuel pump module needs to be replaced.

I received a letter which requested me to take my Corvette to get it repaired if I smell gas when the tank was over half full. At the time I received the letter I did not have this problem. About five or six months later the problem occured. When I took it to the Chevrolet dealer I was told thatthis was a timed letter and that the time for a repair had passed and it would cost me about $2,500 to repair by taking off the gas tank and replacing the fuel pump and line wherethe crack occured. This caused me great concern and I shallnever again have a Chevrolet or gm car in garage.
Bought a 2011 Corvette . Had a strong gas smell when parked . Inside and out of car . Took car in for inspection . Tech said it's a common problem on c6 series Corvettes that the fuel pump area has gas leaks . I parked car inside garage and the gas smell is so strong , I'm afraid to park it inside because of fire hazards . I have pictures of problem . Chevrolet is aware of these cars doing this . It's in the web sights of Corvette owners for same problems. They need to recall these for repair for fire hazard to car , house and injury to person owning them .
Fuel pumps on left and right side . Cracks in fuel I lines and pumps not working. Replaced both fuel pumps because of gas leakage and gas smell in garage. Plus pumps would not equalize fuel so it would't start. Cost $c2666. 54 to fix!!.
2008 Corvette with strong smell of gas fumes near gas tank when gas tank is more than half full. Seems to be a leak at the in tank fuel pump.
Two months ago, the car would crank, but not start. After several tries, and waiting overnight to continue trying, I had the car taken to the dealer. Tow driver drops car off flatbed, service writer gets in to cycle through to get mileage, etc, and the car starts. No error codes. They keep it for a few days, but no further problem. Ten days ago, same problem. Tow driver tries to start the car to drive off flatbed, without success. Dealer observes the problem, but, again, car starts for the service writer, and no codes. Leave it for several days, but no repeat of the prob. A few days ago, same problem, except now the car is on the verge of starting, not just cranking, and I can smell fuel (this was not the case previously). The car was low on fuel when I left, and the low fuel warning had come on a few miles before I stopped. So, I get some gas in the car, eventually 1/2 a tank, and now the car is just cranking, not on the verge, and aaa is called to tow it. At this point, the attempts are taking their toll on the battery, but I continue trying, and, while the tow truck is en route, it starts just like always (push button, engine starts, no lag or hesitation). Dealer thinks it's fuel related, but doesn't know what the problem is, so has no idea what to do. Online forums suggest that it's an overheated fuel pump relay, or connectors thereto, resulting ultimately in a complete fuse box replacement.
Strong smell of gas around car, inside car and inside garage. . Vehicle confirmed by dealer to have crack in plastic on fuel pump. Defect in plastic. . Gm will not cover cost to repair since no recall on this has been issued.
The fuel pump assembly is leaking and needs to be replaced. There is a very strong smell of gas coming from the car when parked. The manufacturer is refusing to cover this repair and it is hazardous to drive the car in the current state.
Fuel smell inside the vehicle. Shop inspected and found a fuel leak from the top of left fuel tank. Tested and found elbow out of fuel pump cracked. Removed and replaced left fuel pump assembly.
Primary tank module flange fuel and vapor leak on top of primary fuel pump causing hazardous fumes in garage and car.
Fuel pump forms leak on top of tank creating heavy fuel smell that fills garage and enters home. Fuel believed to also leak downward onto exhaust pipes. Occurs while running and fumes occur as parked with motor off.
