36 Steering problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 01/22/2021

I experienced loss of control by skidding and almost leaving the road toward a dropoff while applying the brake since the abs, active handling, traction control systems have been malfunctioning at 35mph on a mountain road applying the brake as I was going around a sharp curve I believe the cause of this malfunction of the abs/ah system is a faulty ebcm which is known by countless members of the Corvette owners community as a safety issue that should have been recalled a long time ago. If I would have known about this issue without an active recall I would not have bought the car. Several times this has happened in varied situations and I cannot rely on these safety features to save my life if something occurs that would send me out of control into another vehicle or over a steep cliff like in the close call I mentioned earlier in this text. Gm does not value my life as much as I do and this recall would have bankrupted them shortly after 2000. I'm sure there are hundreds of thousands of wrecked Corvettes and loss of life due to this failure to recall them so they should be able to afford it 20 years later.

38 Steering problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 08/30/2020

I am the owner of a 2019 Corvette zr1. I was driving when I heard a loud rattle sound coming from the front bumper area. During this time the front end of my car became hard to control. I slowed down, parked the car and inspected the front end. Upon inspection I saw that my front splitter had nearly disconnected from my car. I tried to drive slowly and make it home but the splitter was scraping and I didn't feel that it was safe. I also didnt want to cause any more damage. Upon inspection from a shop it was found that the center support bracket that holds the front splitter on properly was never installed on my during pre-delivery inspection. After speaking with several other zr1 owners that this has happened to we now believe that some chevy dealers are forgetting to put this center support bracket on during pre-delivery inspection which we believe creates a very dangerous situation. We have informed chevy about this safety issue but they have not responded.

A thick cloud of smoke billowed from underneath and out the back of the car making it unsafe for cars travelling behind me. The dealer who has since inspected my car has stated it is a known issue that the "lifters are weak". After quite a bit of reading, it appears many other owners of the same car have experienced a multitude of issues with valves, lifters, heads, etc. Gm is aware of faulty parts but I cannot find any notice of recalls. Then I received a dic message on the dash to service power steering gear. I come in to let the car cool down and went back out later with no issues but was not running has hard as before. This power steering overheating issue is very concerning when on the track approaching a turn going 70 to 80 mph. The outside temp was 90 degrees and the cooling system was running around 240 degrees. There is a gm preliminary information about reduction in steering assist while driving on the track during hot days. Bulletin no. : pi1535b date: Nov-2017 that requires to install a new power steering gear cooling duct for 2014-2018 Chevrolet Corvette.
