Warning Light On Problems of Chevrolet Corvette

The airbag warning light on the dash comes on for the driver side for no reason while driving the car. My understanding is that when the light is on, the air bag is non-functional. Sometimes, if I adjust the seat forward, backward, up, and down, the light will go off, but no always. I've had the car into the dealer for repair. The repair cost $120 and the problem is not resolved.

Airbag warning light comes on and off intermittently. After reading all over and trying to figure what's wrong it appears to be a wide spread issue. Airbag idiot light came on and stays on. There is no obd code set. Car was stationary in parking lot and was fine, came out to restart it after shopping and the warning light on the dash came on, and stayed on. Other owners seem to be reporting very similar if not identical failures,.

1) check airbag warning light turns on intermittently when adjusting drivers seat. Faulty wiring in seat wiring harness. 2) check airbag warning light turns on when driving on highway or when parked. Moving seat back, forward, up/down will clear the check airbag warning light, but warning returns. 3) recurring issue on multiple days.

Airbag warning light comes on and goes off each time the car is running. Sometimes it stays on for minutes, other times it may stay on the entire time the car is running. The car currently has 26000 miles. The light is on both when the car is sitting still in park and when it is being driven. Do I have airbag protection when this occurs ? the owners manual states that if the light is on the airbags may deploy for no reason. Very unsafe if car is being driven at highway speeds. Corvette owners need to be made aware of the risks involved in driving this car.

Airbag warning light goes on, rendering airbag inoperative. Poor connectors below seat, a design flaw, lead to this. Recurs no matter how often you return to dealer. This is so common in 2005 Corvettes, and so potentially dangerous, that all 2005 Corvettes should be recalled to have this defect repaired. . .

Airbag warning light intermittent. Seat belt pretensioner not locking. Airbag light will appear after moving seat or during spirited driving.

The air bag warning light comes on and goes off intermittently as you drive. Speed really has no effect on when. Has come on/off as low as 20mph or as high as 80mph.

I was driving the car through a residential area when the red air bag warning light in the instrument panel went on. I pulled the car to the side of the road and shut it off. Upon restarting the car, the light stayed on after the lamp tests completed. I then moved the driver's seat forward a bit (the car has power memory seats) and the light went off. Just back from the dealer. Serviceman said "frayed wire at seat belt", code b0040. Written up as "driver seat connector unplugged". They added dielectric grease, re-mated the connector and now the intermittent airbag dash warning light has ceased.

As I, "the owner", was driving home from work, I received the air bag warning light on the dash board cluster and moved the vehicle to the far right hand lane and slowed down, after about 15 mins the warning light went away, this happened a few times during the week untill I could have the car looked at by my tech. When I talked with my tech, he said that there were no codes and he recommend that instead of having the passenger seat in the full back position that I should move it forward a little, that way the air bag module wires would not be stressed. After moving the passenger seat forward about an inch or so the air bag warning light has not come back since, current mileage on vehicle is 164,327.

My air bag indicator light comes "intermittently". This happens at legal operating speeds and normal conditions. It will even happen while standing still. Gm recalled a number of buicks and gmcs that have a problem with the airbag warning light staying on (some 2008-2009 and all 2010-2013 Buick enclave and GMC acadia, some 2009 and all 2010-2013 Chevrolet traverse, and some 2008-2009 and all 2010 Saturn outlook to repair the wiring harness of seat mounted side air bags). The fix was to splice the harnesses and solder the wires together! could this be a fix for the Corvette too? should the Corvette have been involved in this recall?.

Air bag warning light came on. Fixed under warranty. Problem reoccurred on 10-2-12. Fixed by dealer. Now coming on intermittently. Could be very serious issue if it not just an errant code problem.

Several years into ownership (I purchased new) I noticed intermittent air bag warning light while driving. It would not stay persistent. This would happen infrequently. Several years later the airbag light more frequently would flash but not stay persistent. Now the light is permanently on. No accidents have triggered the air bag light. No modifications to the air bag system have been implemented. No modifications to the safety systems at all. Every day driving and use and for no apparent reason the air bag safety system has been rendered disabled by the cars systems. For the 2005-2013 Corvettes owners believe that one or several of the following may contribute to the failing air bag system: seat retensioner, under seat wiring harness, under seat wiring connectors, the power seat controls having an influence on the functioning of the air bag system.

I filed my first complaint 8/1/08 with NHTSA and nothing has changed. My number is 10236693. My air bag warning light goes off and on. I took it to the dealer and of course the light was off. They said to bring it back when the light is on. I've had the car over four years and it's never on long enough to take it in. How long do I have to drive it not knowing if I'm protected?.
