general problems of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze - part 2

My car often loses power unexpectedly in the middle of a turn in an intersection and once while exiting a busy road. Twice it has died upon arrival at destinations and yet the battery has indicated when tested as fully charged. The key indicator is the radio system turns off for a second or two and then automatically restarts and the car with it. When this occurs the car is unable to be driven as the wheel will not turn. I have informed the local chevy dealership near me and test was done with no error codes reported. What I have had to do is remove the battery cable and replace it and it seems to make the car work for a little longer until it starts the process again with the radio. I had work done to repair the window motor and that is when I first notified chevy (I will have to locate the date). I have given permission for my friend to drive the car and he has seen this occur with the radio but did not notice if the car shut down.

My vehicle has under 80,000 miles and the catalytic converter is already bad. Its causing engine issues and the vehicle to jerk forward when stopped.

As of today, 9/15/22, I have had to replace my coolant housing system 3 times within one year. There is a crack that is constantly in it. Today, while I’m the highway traveling 75 mph, my car overheated and begin to idle on the highway putting myself and others at risk. It wasn’t due to coolant not being in the car, because it was filled this morning(9/15/22). There were no warning signs that my vehicle gave me. It wasn’t inspected since the last time I got the coolant housing fixed in June of 2022.

Car lost power.

Turbochager is malfunctioning. The engine could have seized and since its mostly highway driving to get anywhere that could be bad. The problem has been confirmed through a auto shop. Not inspected by anyone else. There are no warning lamps. Message was low oil. Checked it and there was no oil in the car.

The car overheats due to the water pump and coolant leaks .

Car is hard to start after getting gas and transmission does not operate correctly to get up to speed from an intersection the engine revs to 7000 rpm to get up to 40mph and several times coming close to being run into at times transmission did not work put shifter in drive accelerate and nothing suddenly transmission engaged and the car bolted forward.

Failed catalyst converter due to hot exhaust overload. . Cracked ceramic lining in catalyst.

The turbo breaks on all of these cars. Mine caused damage to my transmission and I have spent two months trying to get it working but all of the turbos for sale or broken or break. Now I believe it has caused damage to the converter as the car consistently drops out of high gears and then revs at over 5000 rpms refusing to upshift. I live in an area with hilly freeways and I have almost been in two accidents because my car can't go over 50 mph uphill and that's if I was going faster before getting to the incline. If every turbo on this car breaks, causing these issues, why has there not been a recall? this is dangerous to everyone with these cars. Chevy needs to take responsibility to fix this issue.

The hose that carries the coolant constantly pops off and leaks coolant. I had it fixed in 2019 at a dealership when it first happened. It started happening again last year and it will over heat. A light in my car comes on saying things are shutting down in order to cool the vehicle. I cant afford to keep fixing it. I don't know why it keeps happening.

At 4:55 am on February 4, 2022 the alarm sounded on my car that was parked beside my front porch. I was confused ; as I never locked my car and did not understand why my alarm would be going off. I opened the front door and the front of the car and underneath the engine was in flames. It was burning under the hood and burning and sparking behind the passenger side front tire it was very close to my home so I woke my son and we grabbed a few belongings and went out the back door. I was sure the fire would consume my car and our home. I immediately called 911 and the local fire department arrived and put it out but not before the windshield and all the tires exploded. This could have been deadly. There is absolutely no reason for my car to catch on fire. The police dept was notified and they reached out to me asking if I had full coverage insurance on my car that had burned. Unfortunately I did not. The car was paid for and I had liability insurance so I totally lost my car for an unknown reason. I looked for recalls , I called the Chevrolet company and asked if they could do an investigation but no they did not. There are recalls on earlier models of this car for combustion fires but not this model year. I wanted to sue the company as this was very traumatic and if this car had been in the garage it would have been a terrible disaster. I did not have time or money to spend on a lawsuit at the time I am writing this now because this needs to be on a public forum for other owners of this make and model car. I have lost trust in the Chevrolet company and will never ever buy another gm product. Two years later I still have no answers and nobody seemed to care that my car caught on fire for no reason in the early morning hours while we were sleeping during a rainy cold February morning and had not been driven since 9 pm the night before. Thank you.

While driving check engine light came on and car start losing power and not shifting correctly being close to home attempted to baby vehicle home. Car started to make strange noise immediately pulled over and shut car off. Had car towed to personal mechanic. The turbo has blown apart.

The contact's son called the dealer and made an appointment to have the vehicle serviced. The contact informed her son that she would be charged a diagnostic fee and the contact cancelled the appointment. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they discovered a coolant leak related to a defective water pump. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 33,047.

We have discovered a known issue with the pistons cracking. Seems this issue has impacted a huge number of people. We are now left with an unuseable vehicle that requires 8k in repairs. There are tons of articles and complaints about this issue. Chevrolet must repair or reimburse all those that have been impacted.

My 2014 Cruze has 55600 miles and started to make a ticking noise oil was checked no problem however there was no antifreeze/coolant so I added it. Less than a week later again I had no antifreeze/coolant I saw that chevy had a recall on some 2013 & 2014 chevy Cruze’s head gasket. My VIN isn’t coming up. I feel after babying my car and servicing her religiously that the issue is the responsibility of the manufacturer.

I have a code p0420 code and engine light keeps comeback on I had the catalytic converter replaced, and everything inspected by friendship Chevrolet in forestcity nc 28043. Kept my car for two weeks and still couldn’t find the problem of this p0420 code so my engine light stays on.

I purchased this Chevrolet Cruze2014 in 2021 of November now I have an unsafe vehicle I have took it to have it looked at and now they want me to pay 1,600 for damages that I have not created tension belts and assembly problem and an oil pan that is cracked this also have struts and other suspension problems that need to be address I will like to see if their is any way to have this problem taken care of so that it is not all on me I don't feel like getting into a dangerous car and kill myself or other people please help me my name is [xxx] phone number is [xxx] so that I may get these problems fix so I can have a decent car I purchased it from american car center and now they are giving me problems on fixing this car that they sold me with these problems information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. The contact stated that while driving 62 mph when the contact notice other drivers flashing their lights therefore they decided to pull over to the side of the road. When they pulled over they noticed that there was coming through the vents of the vehicle. The vehicle's touchscreen on the dashboard that controls the radio as well as a few other functions went blank and the actual physical rubber parts of the screen began to melt. There was no medical attention needed. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. The contact had not spoken to the dealership. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000.

I took my car into king Chevrolet last year around August. The car was overheating and the fan was running almost all the time. When they ran the diagnoses which I was charged 100 dollars for, they told me I had a loose plug. About 1 month after that, it started doing it again. I called the service department and was told I should get rid of the car as they are not that good of a vehicle by the service tech. I found the thermostat was broken and replaced it. It helped for a while then I noticed the check engine light and it was code p0420 which stated it was a bad catalytic converter. I noticed a recall in 2018 by gm, recall # 16186. I called them today and they said my car was not affected. It did affect 2014 chevy Cruze according to the recall. They wanted me to bring it in to have it diagnosed again for 100 dollars. I have have the valve cover replaced twice as the pvc valve was defective. The car has 116,000 miles now and it had 96,000 when this started happening. I would like to know if they are telling the truth, or just trying to soak me for repairs.

The car keeps overheating and it has been to the mechanic multiple times and the problem exist. If I get on the highway my transmission hot engine idle light comes on. I have had a transmission replaced and a lot of other things repaired and the issue continues.

Water pump constantly leaking through seap hole weather or not u get a new water pump or not can't get it to stop leaking . Ac cut off due to heat engine . It will not stop dripping I have changed water pumps 3 times and it never has stopped dripping this has costed us alot of money and time if ww only new this we would have bought something else. We have been through 2 computers ecm ans a motor replaced this thing has been in the shop every year since we had this car once for 9 months.

Air bags did not deploy in a serious wreck, also with the seat belts not properly securing. First week I bought it. It shut off on the interstate because it was overheating. Ac compressor was broke so it got replace. The fan motor does not spin right. When my air/heater is on my engine make a loud noise (since the day I bought it). Cooling system has been replaced 4 times. Overall terrible car and everything needs to be recalled on it. Not safe to drive.

Vehicle overheated, oil and coolant mixing in. The mentioned vehicle may stall on the road causing traffic hazard to its occupants, and the driving public around it. The engine oil is visibly mixing in with the engine coolant at this point. The temperature gage showed higher than normal level, then steam/smoke came out of the engine compartment as oil and coolant spew out of the closed coolant tank.

This has occur more than a handful of times. This is the most recent one, I stopped at the gas station turned off my car and when I went to start it nothing was working no lights, no power anywhere. I wiggled the battery cable and it came back on but, I had to turn the key on and off multiple times for it to finally start. As I'm leaving the gas station I turn to the left and I have no power steering none whatsoever. Then it came back seconds later I was driving straight and the wheel jerked on its on and it said service power steering and once again I had no power steering. It went off moments later. When I got to my destination it lost all power again.

Vehicle will lose power and shut off in middle of driving while trying to accelerate or slowing down, this occurs on highway, at stoplights, drive through, and city streets while stationary and in motion. Chevrolet dealership can not figure out the problem. This is extremely dangerous. Ecm has been replaced but still experience electrical problems as well. This is basically a death trap vehicle. It has happened numerous times with no solution.

Faulty turbocharger, multiple owners that I spoke to have replaced their turbocharger twice only to know that it keeps failing. The turbocharger ruined my catalytic converter which had to be replace du to a crack in the turbocharger.

Common issue where an underboost even happens due to crack in turbo or failed wastegate, when on highway can cause an accident when suddenly unable to maintain highway speeds, also negatibe battery cable has common issue which reduces voltage pass through causing traction control and stabil-track issues which can cause loss of control of vehicle in hazardous conditions.

Car is not accelerating properly. This makes for dangerous driving conditions in areas with high speed limits such as the highway.

The airbag sensor light will come on and turn back off and flash �service airbag� multiple times. I have also replaced the thermostat in my car twice in the past year and I have to replace it again.

Had to change def reservoir and engine oil psi solenoid valve and my side serivce alert in broken too and at 26000 miles I ask for new car because I had 7 replacement part put on car I was deined new car.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehcile would not properly accelerate while pressing the accelerator pedal. Eventually one day the vehicle would not start or turn on. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer hurd Chevrolet located at 1705 hartford Ave johnston ri. Who reprogrammed the engine control module and serviced the wire harness. The contact indicated recently the failure reoccurred and the vehicle would not start. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 21,000. Jft.

I was sitting at a red light and my vehicle began to move forward with my foot on the brake. The vehicle began to increase in rpm's like I was pushing on the accelerator but I was not!! later that day I went to the gm dealer to see what they could find and didn't find anything cause the computer had reset since I had shut the car off. Two days later the car did the exact same thing so I immediately drove to the car dealer. Told them how dangerous that was and I couldn't believe the car was acting like I was giving it more gas when I wasn't!! they hooked it up to the computer and found the problem this time. It had to do with a crack in my pollution canister. With that crack my computer thought my car needed more gas and would give it more gas. I can't believe they let a computer program give your car more gas and you have no control of it and without warning. The first time it did it I was not prepared for it and when the computer gave my car more gas it began to move into the intersection and almost caused a horrible accident. Since the dealer replaced the pollution canister I have not had any problems. I have warned everyone I know about what happened and to be prepared for it. It just amazes me that more people haven't been seriously hurt by this! hopefully that crack that caused my problems doesn't happen to anyone else!!.

Warning light comes on say steering and traction light and said service steering and my engine come on code was O2 and 01 I had alot problems with sensor the car was in repair shop 11 time the first 3 year I make complaints try to get new car from gm they said no.
