1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 11/05/2020

With less than 25,000 miles on this leased vehicle all four brake rotors were rusted to the point of deterioration and chipping. The rust was so thick and rough that it was grinding away the pads with stopping ability seriously diminished. One rear brake pad was ground down to the metal surface. The dealer would not warranty the rotors as brakes are considered normal vehicle maintenance. In fact , I was told by the service manager that an equinox was in his shop with the same problem. That vehicle's mileage was 19,000. The condition of these rotors was anything but normal, as though they were manufactured using a poor quality and /or porous material. On average vehicle rotors last up to 50,000 miles and through two sets of brake pads. My claim is that these severely rusted rotors are a safety issue due to the diminished stopping ability, compared to the smooth surface a rotor is intended to maintain.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 09/26/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. While the contact's daughter was reversing the vehicle, the brakes failed to operate without warning. As a result, the vehicle tapped the vehicle parked behind her. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to stewart Chevrolet (780 serramonte blvd, colma, CA 94014, (415) 570-7351) to be inspected. The manufacturer was notified and stated that an inspector would be sent to the dealer to inspect the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a faulty brake booster, vacuum pump, and brake pads. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage and VIN were unknown.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 05/30/2018

Brakes work one time fine then the next it will almost put you threw the window . No loss of petal but same amount of pressure applied to pedal everytime and resulting in a normal stop to a sharp stop. New rotor and pad 6 months ago. Took it to the shop wear the brake pads and the rotor were replaced and they said everything as far as the pads and rotors are good its something else. (brake boaster , brake asst, switch) talk dealer and they said it no a cover part if it a powertrain brake booster or brake asst switch. Every every dangerous I will not let my family drive this car until problem is solved.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 12/26/2017

Manual transmission, neutral gear and emergency brake always used when parking the car. Noticed that when removing the e-brake on a hill, the car rolls slightly backwards and it seemed as if the e-brake engaged even after it being removed. There was also friction when using the brakes, almost like the brake pads were getting low, however they had just been replaced. Took the car into the mechanic and was told the e-brake cable running from the emergency brake to the back tires is malfunctioning to where it fails to retract fully when the emergency brake is disengaged. I have been told that this part is on a 4 week back order through gm because it is a reoccurring problem, and it is not a safety issue according to gm. However, having the emergency brake partially engaged is definitely a major safety issue, since it conflicts with normal braking when driving, causing friction in the brakes. Not safe to drive on, and can't even be fixed since it is on back order due to a fault part! mechanic says hes surprised my brakes were not smoking. I drive long distances between states frequently, and is completely unsafe to drive, and cannot fix the part until the back order is caught up through gm.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 02/19/2014

The 2013 Chevrolet Cruze 1. 8l engine (non-turbo) was installed with a "too small" disc rotor and/or pads for the front - causing the front disc rotor and/or front pads to be subjected to premature failure. My disc rotor and pads routinely fails at under 10,000 miles. Gm recognized this problem and installed larger front disc rotor and pads for the 2014 Cruze diesel but refuses to conduct a recall to replace the defective front disc rotor and pads causing dangerous stopping situation when the disc rotor and pads are prematurely worned out.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 02/14/2014

The brake pedal will push (in a panic stop) to below the accelerator allowing the car to continue accelerating when the brake pedal is pushed to stop vehicle. This has occurred at least two times in 3 months. I have never had a car with brake pedal travel to go to and below the level of the accelerator pedal. A wide shoe will allow the above mentioned problem. I have had the dealer (westside Chevrolet, katy TX) look at the problem. The answer I get that there is no adjustment to the brakes. I feel this is a safety problem and the brake pads should be replaced in order to prevent an accident.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 05/16/2013

I was very slowly backing out of my parking space at work and the vehicle would not stop when the brakes were applied. This happened to me 4 times within a 7 month period, 3 times were in the winter when I would be backing out of a driveway but I had assumed it was due to the slick road conditions that we had but I was apparently wrong. I am scheduled to have my vehicle looked at on 5/31 and I am hoping that they repair it at no cost because I feel it is a defect. I don't feel that it is my brake pads that could be bad because any other time the car will stop on a dime, there is no braking noises or abnormal feeling in the brakes at any other time. Thinking back it only seems to happen when I don't let my car sit and idle for a few minutes before I start going.

8 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

Failure Date: 07/11/2012

Front brakes vibrate and over heat when applied at over 35mph. Also when brakes are applied suddenly vibration it felt. Dealer could not duplicate problem the first time but after two more visit front brake pads were replace. Then again after several complaints and still the same problem same dealer replaced brake pads and rotors. Still to this date brakes feel the same and dealer or gm will not aknowledge that vehicle has a problem. Im concern for me and my families safety and im between a rock and a sword cause is the vehicle I use as a daily driver.
