The defrost quit working while we had -50 degree temperatures this winter. My car could not keep the windshield clear to see. It was in motion when it began getting more and more foggy. Now hear a gear went out in the vent system.
While driving to work on a busy highway heading to danville va where the speed limit is around 55 to 60 mph during a wintry mix storm the driver side windshield wiper stopped working making it impossible to see. On various web sites this has been an ongoing issue with these vehicles. Thus far upon my research there are various causes for this to occur but the one that I know its not in my case is that I have bad wipers. These wipers were just recently replaced.

The windshield wiper linkage failed via a ball joint failure in the wiper mechanism. This caused the driver side wiper to become free moving, staying attached to the car. When it failed, it wound up getting pinned against the driver side door, forcing me to exit the vehicle via the passenger side. This failure occurred when I was driving through western MD on interstate 68 near grantsville, MD, during a light snow and salting operations were underway. I was using the wipers and washer fluid to keep the windshield clear of salt. After this failure, I used cable ties to tie the loose wiper arm to the attached wiper arm, therefore disabling my wipers until we got to our destination, two hours further down the road. I had to stop every 10-15 minutes to clear the salt off of the windshield. I replaced the part, but have the oem part available for inspection, if requested. I noticed this specific part was recalled on the 2013 Chevrolet equinox.

Recently turned up the defogger on front windshield to warn car up and I heard a a loud vibrating sound and a humming noise coming from vents, my blower motor starts vibrating on anything after 3 for the level. Today I was driving in the snow and used my wipers the driver side stopped mid way and was stuck. Once I reached my destination I tried using the wipers again and the driver side did nothing. I got out and out it down tried once more and the driver wiper did not move.
Defrost switch/door motor gears are broken causing the windshield to not be able to defrost. Driving visibility is slim to none at all.
The passenger wiper blade motor broke right after turning the wipers on, and will not move the wiper. The vehicle was stationary when the passenger side stopped working. The driver side wiper randomly stops working in the middle of driving at random times, on city streets, highways, ect.
There's a plastic gear inside the dash that changes the hvac mode from vent to defrost. That gear becomes brittle and snaps causing loss of window defrost to prevent window fogging. This becomes dangerous when driving down the road and unable to clear the window fogging.

Vehicle fails to turn on windshield defroster causing limited to no visibility.
While driving during a storm driver side windshield wiper stopped working. Could not see at all while driving vehicle on highway.
I am writing to request an investigation into Chevrolet Cruze heater blend door actuator failures. The issue is a small plastic gear that strips out and does not allow the blend door to cycle from windshield defrost / dash vents / and floor vents. This is a high safety concern in cold / rainy weather driving due to the vehicle operator is unable to adjust the bled door to defrost the windshield. This in turn allows the windshield to become fogged, (or frosty in extreme cold) which leads to very poor visibility. I have a professional youtube channel that shows the issue in detail the link is https://youtu. Be/i5pdaia0p-8 quotes to repair this issue range from $800. 00 to $1500. 00. Being this failure can lead to an accident caused from poor visibility from an obvious design flaw, to cut corners and save money, this needs to be looked at. My video has nearly 11,000 views from people with this problem. Also almost every forum online have people discussing this problem. I believe it is n bad taste for Chevrolet to not yet acknowledge this as a recall.
My passenger side windshield wiper stopped working. I was trying to make it a few days until I could afford to fix my passenger wiper and my driver side stopped working on my way to work on the highway while I was in motion. When this happened I had to hang my head out the window to see where I was driving until I could get to a safe location to pull over.
On 12-7-2018, I started my car for the day. Turned on the wipers. Then went to turn them on again to rinse the rain off and the driver side blade was lifeless. Had to have transmission replaced. Totally unacceptable I've seen other complaints online and I think there should be a recall because it is a serious safety hazard to not have the driver side wiper blade operational. The car was stationary. But it was a rainy day and I had to drive to work with no wipers. By the grace of god my work is literally three minutes from home. And my son is a mechanic at a chevy dealership so I was able to have the problem fixed in a few days. But I'm sure there are quite a few people who are not so lucky that are stuck with this problem. I looked it up online and saw a 25 complaints other than mine and it happened to them while their car was in motion.
When driving my car never ends up heating up, this makes me choose between being able to see or being able to be warm. This is a major problem living in wisconsin and I am not able to heat my car up in the winter. The only way that a little heat will come out is if I've already drove 5+ miles and I keep my car above 3500 rpms. This is not acceptable and makes it a major safety hazard to drive in the winter. It will do this when stationary, in motion and whenever. This car does not heat up.
Backing out of a parking spot in a non-regulated privately owned parking area vision is impaired and anyone moving in any direction toward you cannot be seen or noticed until impact.
Today while driving in rain/snow mix my drivers side windshield wiper went left and hung up on the drivers window, pulled off the interstate and put it back on to the windshield and its lifeless, the passenger side is still operating fine, wiper blades were 2 months old so it has nothing to do with it. The car is at 82,000 miles and this is unacceptable! I proceeded to drive looking out the middle of the windshield just to get to my job, this is very dangerous and there should be a recall.
Wiper assembly broke and dealer replaced assembly and motor, 1 month later new assembly has broken again, causing wiper arms to freeze.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph in inclement weather, the driver's side windshield wiper became inoperable. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. An unnamed dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000. Ah.
Let me start by saying this issue was the not the first issue that's cause me to tow my car first was my engine failure due to coolant lines ripping while driving. And this issues is about defrost and heating in the general I was driving on the highway with me heat on the windshield but it didn't heat the front windshield instead is was heating my face the windows were already a little foggy but I expected it to be clear while driving but instead while going 65mph on the highway my windows completely become fogged completely white I couldn't see anything lucky for me I was on the right lane so I pulled over and was safe however if it happened even 5 seconds later I would of most likely hit or been hit as the highs had some renavations and the new turn had no pull over and had a long and tight turn. Anyways if your also having this issues and know a fix please inform me.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving in a rain storm the driving side wind shield wiper stopped working. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The VIN tool showed no recall and the failure mileage was 108,000. Tf.
The driver side wiper linkage broke off while driving making it hard to see in the rain.
While driving down a city street it began to rain so I turned on my wipers and all of a sudden the passenger stopped in the straight up position which caused the drivers side to get caught up in it. I immediately turned off my wipers as the drivers side was still attempting to move even though it was caught up and had to pull over because I had zero visibility. I got the wipers untangled but the passenger side no longer works. This is a major safety issue and with the research I've done it seems to be a big issue for hundreds if not thousands of others.
Radio/infotainment system display goes full bright even during night and cannot be dimmed and destroys the drivers night vision and can only be reset by stopping the car and cycling through reverse, to activate reverse camera. Also, reverse camera operation puts screen in full bright, which at night makes the display too bright to use, and distracting to the driver trying to safely operate the car in reverse at night. . Driver side wiper malfunctions causing vehicle to have no wiper function on driver side. Malfunction occurred at aprx 80k miles while parked with wipers on. Wiper bushing fails causing linkage to unattach leaving wiper motionless. This is a severe safety issue caused by poor parts design/quality or installation.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet cruz. The contact stated that the vehicle's defroster failed to defrost the windshield. The contact contacted the dealership (riverview Chevrolet address: 1063 long run rd, mckeesport, PA 15132 phone: (888) 733-9695) who diagnosed that the defroster needed to be repaired and the dashboard had to be detached and re-attached to do so. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that there was no recall regarding the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Gl.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph without warning, the windshield wiper became inoperable. The contact stated that the vehicle was being driven in inclement weather at the time. The vehicle was taken to jeff wyler eastgate auto mall located at 1117 OH-32, batavia, OH 45103, (513) 752-3447. While driving in light rain at roughly 40mph the drivers side wiper stopped working. Passenger side wiper still works. Upon researching it appears this is a widespread safety issue on these vehicles. There needs to be a safety recall as this could kill someone.
The windshield wipers failed to return to the off position. They got stuck in the on position. The vehicle was in motion at the time the issue occurred. The wipers remained stuck even as the vehicle was parked and turned off. Attempts to reset the wipers using manual force were unsuccessful. The next morning en route to the dealer, the wipers returned to the off position upon starting the vehicle to drive. The wipers stuck again several times while driving to the dealership for service.

Right after I purchased the 2017 chevy Cruze I noticed a small delay with the wipers when they were in downward motion but really didn't think anything of it. However, a month later I'm driving on the highway in the rain the wipers froze in the upward position! probably one of the most terrifying experience I've had. (note: it takes very little rain to completely block visibility when driving) thankfully I was able to get into the right hand lane and was able to get us off the road. The wipers remained in the upward position for 15-20 minutes before finally reacting the wiper lever.
After awhile of owning my vehicle I noticed my ac/heater blower began to stop blowing out of my vents, and it only blows out of the defrost vent. With the blower on my windows become very fogged and hard to see. I took it to a repair center and found out that it would end up costing me $1000 to fix a $15 piece. With having to remove my entire dash. They told me it was a lever of some sort and there is no other way to get to it.
My vehicle was in motion, going about 50-60 mph. It stared down pouring rain. My driver side windshield wiper stopped working all of a sudden. It remained in the up position. Since my safety was involved, I had to look out of the passenger side so I could see. I pulled over and tried to move it back into position, but it had zero tension and just freely moved. My safety was jeopardized and now I have to goto the dealership and pay out of pocket. I would like to be reimbursed! this is crazy.
Condensation on inside windows.
The windshield wipers will not work unless placed on high speed, and even then, they stop halfway on the windshield causing visability issues. This happened while driving down the road.
Defrost is not working. I believe the mode valve lever is broken.
Hvac door actuator does not operate correctly. Car will not blow air on to the windshield to defrost the window. Results in poor to no visibility while driving due to interior fog on the windows and spray from other traffic freezing to the windshield.
