Brake Abs Warning Light problems of the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The traction control light and the abs light come on when driving and when you go to stop or slow down, the brakes pulsate and make it to where you can't stop or slow down, even on dry roads.

Abs pulsates by itself while driving making it hard to stop when I need to. When I do push down on the breaks it pushes back preventing me from stopping quickly or at all. After a while driving like this the abs traction light comes on and stays on until I turn it off and then it happen all over again. I have been to the dealer to have it fix but the problem keeps reoccurring. In 2012 the car just stop on the road that wasn't break related causing us to get hit from behind and the airbag didn't deploy. The car now is have electrical problems where it seems like one thing is failing after another. For example side mirrors don't work, rear windshield wiper stop working, airbag never deployed.

Vehicle brakes jam up and abs and tc lights come on and stay on. Private mechanic replace left front wheel and hub ($140). Problem began again after a few days and now dealer says is wire harness. ($255) I noticed in the other postings this is a huge problem and apparently a defect. Why no recall? this vehicle is obviously not a well made vehicle.

The right front wheel brake began to lock up causing the vehicle to pull to the right. The abs and traction control light came on. I had to have it replaced twice now. The electrical harness keeps falling off do the metal clip it hooks onto rusting. The wiring harness clip on the end where it connects to the hub is shot. The abs light is constantly on. I've tried to clean it many times to no avail. I'm sick and tired of this problem. No matter what I do, it still causes problem. And I am a PA certified inspection mechanic. I've never seen such a poor brake system in my life. I have replaced the front rotors and brakes 4 times now, and probably will have to replace them again in August of this year, 2015 when my state inspection will be due. The joke of it all is that the rear brakes are still the original brakes and stand at the last inspection at 8/32. This tells me that the brake distribution equalizer is not working. All my stopping power is on the front brakes. My Equinox is 10 years old. Surely by now the rear brakes should have been replaced a few times. There is only 38,300 miles on this vehicle now and it looks like new. I take exceptionally good care of my vehicles. Every 3000 miles the oil and tires are rotated, and everything else is inspection by me. I was going to buy a 2015 Equinox, but was torn away by the delays of Chevrolet on these problems. In the end, these vehicles should be recalled and the entire abs system should be completely re-examined and repaired. Finally after 3 years, I now got a new ignition and 2 new keys. Ya. The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the abs and traction lights illuminated and when depressing the brakes, the vehicle would exhibit a loud grinding noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised her that they would replace the brakes and a hub bearing failure. The vehicle was later taken to the dealer and they advised the contact that they would replace the hub bearings. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred several months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they offered no assistance. The manufacturer was later contacted and they also offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000. The VIN was unavailable.

While driving abs warning light came on. Abs brakes occasionally grabbed when stopping. Now (week later) it grabs at every stop and abs light comes on everytime you stop and then stays on until car is turned off. When braking feels like there is no control and car will not stop. Scared to drive it - so it is now parked until we can take in for repair $$$$$$$. Found many complaints while searching for answers. Not everyone knows to complain here. Hope one more will help before it is too late.

I was on the freeway merging into the slow lane when the car in front of me slowed so I put my foot on the brake and all I heard was grinding clunking no brakes suddenly my abs light came on and I had brakes. Since then I have taken it to 5 different places, spent 300 + dollars to replace the sensors, 700+ dollars to replace all of the brakes and systems (the guy felt bad because the computer says nothing is wrong but he himself almost hit the wall because no brakes) clearly something is wrong over 2 years I have spent over 2 thousand dollars but still the problem persists. There have been numerous complaints on here and the dealers response to me "bring it in and for $105 we will hook it up and see what's wrong" so what I spend another thousand with the dealer and no solution. It has to be something the models on here have in common. Why hasn't anybody looked into this. Is it going to take someone being killed and channel 7 looking into this before something is done? last night my husband almost went into an intersection because he couldn't stop. I can't afford a new car if I could I would have gotten rid of it in 2011.

My 2005 chevy Equinox's brakes started vibrating when I would try to stop and then the abs and tc lights would come on. Replaced front breaks, was told back breaks were okay. Still had the same problem and after awhile the brakes would vibrate even when not breaking and sometimes have trouble stopping until the abs and tc light comes on. 1st diagnostic determined I needed a right front wheel speed scensor. Replaced it and 2 days later had the same problem. Next I was told it needed the left wheel speed scensor. Replaced it. 2 days later starting having the same problem. Then I was told it needed the right front wheel bearing. Replaced both front wheel bearings. Still have a problem only now the breaks only vibrate and lights come on on hills, when turning or going at higher speeds.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 35 mph, the abs light illuminated and then dimmed after one minute. The light illuminated again and did not turn back off. Whenever the contact drove the vehicle, the abs light illuminated. The dealer has not yet been notified due to conflicting hours. The contact took the vehicle to several repair shops and they all stated that they could repair the vehicle. The VIN, purchase date, engine size, and powertrain were unknown. The current and failure mileages were approximately 40,000.
