1 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2013

Upon smoke test of fuel system it was found that fuel is leaking from fuel line where the fuel line meets the fuel pump on top of the fuel tank. I was advised that this is a safety item and to see if this is an item under warranty through the dealership. I did receive a technical service bulletin for this issue.

2 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2012

The fuel pump and fuel line for the 2007 chevy Equinox is hazardous. The gasoline delivery system is faulty. My vehicle has less than 67,000 and is leaking gas near the tank. In researching 2007 chevy Equinox online complaints, I have found this to be very common for this vehicle year and make;however,gm has not recalled this. My vehicle smells like gas from far distance. As I had to drive it back to my house it gave me a headache, made me sick to my stomach and dizzy, which is a huge hazard while driving your vehicle. There is a pan underneath the vehicle which holds on to all of the gas that has leaked out of the gas delivery system. If parked on a tilt the gas leaks out of the pan. I am pregnant and have two little boys that were in the vehicle with me when the gas smell took over the car. I called Chevrolet customer service and their is nothing they can do. With so many complaints out there for this same make and model something should be done for the safety of gm's consumers. I understand that gm recalled some chevy volts, and Saturn ion's for the same issue. Gm should consider all makes with the same hazardous issue. . Read more...

3 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2012

We have noticed a very distinctive smell of fuel coming from the rear of the vehicle. It would happen coming back from a drive. Could not find a leak. Mechanic found the fuel pump and hoses were corroded and had to be replaced. There are hundreds of complaints for the same thing, Chevrolet appears to not have any concerns but the smell is very strong and could cause a fire because the leak will pill up on the tank, at the top near the hose connections. This needs to be recalled and replaced. It cost us $1,700 to get this replaced and finally fixed.

4 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a strong odor of fuel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that a fuel line coming from the fuel pump to the engine was cracked. As a result, fuel would leak and rest near the reservoir next to the tank. This failure created a fire hazard. The contact also stated that the dealer was unable to locate the leak in the same way the mechanic was able to. The failure and current mileages were 84,000. The consumer was informed there was a leak coming from the filler neck and the gas tank would need to be replaced. Updated 04/09/12.

5 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

My married daughter(3 small kids) recently started smelling gas at the right rear of her 2007 Equinox(74,000 mi). Inspection by local dealer revealed gas tank seam near pump/sending unit assembly separated & leaking. Vehicle is still within power train and emissions warranties but gm is only willing to cover cost of new tank(not officially under either warranty, just as a "good will" gesture) leaving $500. 00 in labor for her to pay. Per NHTSA website, there have been multiple instances of this problem which could only be described as a component failure / manufacturing defect. Given the potential for a fire and/or explosion, gm should view this as a potential p/r nightmare and do whatever is necessary to rectify the situation(to include a loaner vehicle). Local dealer has been very helpful but it's gm's place to do the right thing rather than taking 'partial responsibility'. Two or more similar problems reported to NHTSA have been covered under warranty. Compared to the cost of a recall(or god forbid, a fire), repairing each of these as they happen without hesitation would be an insignificant expense for the manufacturer(and very good legal advice, I might add. . . . ) updated 07/20/11 the consumer stated upon further inspection at another dealership, it was in fact discovered that the fuel pressure line at the sending unit was cracked and leaking. The problem was corrected and all parts and labor were covered under warranty. Updated 08/02/jb.

6 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

There is an overwhelming smell of gasoline inside the vehicle. Prior to taking the vehicle into the shop you would have to turn the key over a couple times to prime the line before it would start. I was told there is a gas leak due to faulty fuel lines. Gm does not make the replacement lines seperately so the entire fuel pump most be replaced. This is a huge safety issue and a manufacturing defect I should not have to pay for, unfortunatly there is no recall so I will be paying for it out oof pocket.
