1 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2012

On Jan. 30th check engine light and smelled fuel when I parked the car. Next day my mechanic ran a pressure test on fuel system and we could see fuel running down the sides of the fuel tank. He dropped the tank and a pool of gasoline is sitting in a depressed area on top of the fuel tank where the top of the fuel pump is located. The gas is leaking where the fuel pressure line connects to the pipe on top of the fuel pump sending unit. This appears to be a heat shrinked wrapped connection ( no clamps ) which has cracked causing fuel to leak out and down the sides of the fuel tank in close vicinity of the exhaust system. My mechanic replaced the fuel pump/fuel module/fuel line assembly ( yes, its all one unit ). Set me back $ 1,200 dollars and not covered by warranty and I hope this one's not defective. This is a major safety issue and manufacture's defect and I'm shocked there hasn't been a safety recall on this issue yet. Please order a mandatory recall, gm has got to fix this.

2 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2012

The fuel system some where on the right side of fuel tank close to exhaust pipe, can see where fuel is leaking down the right side (passenger side) of fuel tank. Strong smell of raw gas fumes in the vehicle when driving which is detrimental to the human respiratory track and the brain. It is a potential fire hazard also. I hope that gm will recall this problem. My vehicle is only five years old. I hope they are not playing the bean counter game with this complaint. My 1995 chevy truck is sixteen years old and it has never had a fuel leak in the fuel system. My 50 chevy never had a fuel leak it was over 20 years old when we bought it. This kind of problem is not suppose to happen and over 200 complaints speaks very loud. My wife and I were driving from georgia to north carolina when it started leaking and we both suffered headache and nausea before we finally got home. I hope gm will stand behind it's product.

3 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2011

Bad fuel smell at the rear of vehicle. Fuel dripping from fuel tank. After removal of fuel tank a leak was found common to pressure line connected to top of fuel pump. Note: the exhaust pipe is routed under the fuel tank and could have caused a fire. First noticed the car would not start on first attempt. Did not notice the fuel leak until the car was parked in the garage and had filled the garage with fumes.

4 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2011

I have a 2007 chevy Equinox and I smell gas fumes but there is no leak. I started smelling the smell of gas over a month ago. After driving the fumes are really strong. There are no visible leaks just the smell of gas. The smell is on the right side were the gas cap is. I checked the gas cap and it is closed properly. I took the vehicle to a mechanic and after diagnosing with a smoke machine he found the leak to be coming out of the pressure relief hose behind the rear tire wall on the passenger side. He replaced the vapor canister ($98. 59 + tax & labor) that is suppose to prevent any pressurized gas vapors to recycle back into the gas tank. The smell is still there! any advice would be helpful.
