Engine cylinders & seals are faulty and easily crack causing the car to stop /stall while in drive! I nearly hit a semi-truck because the car stoped mid drive and the car jerked so hard that the wheel jerked to the side and then locked!! as the car continued to glide in a circle because it didnt stop all the way I could not turn the wheel to avoid the semi, what saved my life was the clear road that allowed the semi to go around me!! my car literally sat in the middle of the street across the yellow line! this issue persists and corrupts the entire fuel system, catalytic conveyer, resonator, and timing chain simultaneously! this causes each owner to replace the entire engine because it simply can not be fixed. Fixing or repairing one of the components does not fix the issue or stop the engine from failing, all must be replaced! even after replacing it all the same thing happens to the new engine! this is a engine malfunction. The entire car/engine/blueprint should be destroyed and recalled!!! even the mechanics and dealers are asking why these vehicles still exist and saying that the engine for this car is junk and it’s so common for this to happen to the point that there are no used engines for under $2500!!! majority of the mechanics are even refusing to repair/replace the engine in this car because it’s a waste of time & money because the next engine new or used will do the same exact thing!! no one is going to pay $10,000+ for a new engine or even $2500+ for a used engine plus $2000+ for labor only for the same exact problem to happen after spending $5000 - $12000+.

My veh stalled on me mid drive said engine power reduced, it did not let me accelerate and I almost got hit. Simultaneously the stabilitrack message came on and watch for ice, did this happen because of the cold? also few days later it was storming and my wipers stopped in the middle of the window and I was on the fwy in the fast lane. I had to get soaked from rolling m window down to pull over. Roadside came to stop traffic to let me on the right side shoulder because I was lucky I had room to pull over or even see in the first place. I couldnt see anything!.
As driving Nov 19, 2018. The car stalled, engine problem, my husband had to push across three lanes of traffics ! almost got run down . For no reason the car just stopped running! we were putting one quart of oil per week?? in between regular oil changes. The car was towed, our mechanic told us engin seized, needed a new engine?? we still owe 3700 on the car and it doesn't run?? I'm so mad that this has been an on going problem with this year and model?? gm owes us a new car!!.

This SUV has had a new transmission, motor and now it has been just cuts out and no power and on the message center says stability track light we have put a new battery and brought it to two different gm certified car garages and no one knows what to do car is unsafe when it just decides to randomly stall out and has no power until after it sits for about 5 min it may restart or may need a jump start very scary situation it can happen when driving on freeway or in town or even in line a drive thru line in park you never know this has happened about 6-8 times and there is no warning of when it will happen nor any kind of pattern very scary and unsafe.

Car only has 89k miles and it's having issues when it's accelerating and switching gears. It also stalls often while in motion. Also having an issue with my defroster controller. Seems like this is a recall in the same year and model but my VIN doesn't qualify.

Vehicle ran rough, noise from engine noted . Several times to dealer for repair. 77k miles engine would not start. "timing "jumped 4 notches, no compression in cylinders" per dealer . Dealer wanted $3500 to "diagnose" damage not including repair, installed used motor at cost of $4000. No help from dealer or gm as vehicle was 5 months out of "5 year warranty".
Car battery constant drains, car wont start upon hot/cold weather. . . Bcm might be the cause-body control module computer, car cuts off while driving, has stalled, nocking sound when ac/heater is on ,burning smell. Battery replaced and not the problem, alt also checked and is working good. Have to constantly charge the battery to charge the computer to get the car to start.
Was driving vehicle when all of a sudden entire dash lit up and car stalled. Messages included service stabilitrak, service abs, engine light, and service traction control. I lost power, power brakes, and power steering and coasted vehicle to a stop. It took a couple of tries but finally got the car to turn over, engine light remained on but drove to dealer. Vehicle did not drive correctly when accelerated, it was slow and jerky. When I took the vehicle to the dealer they told me it would be covered under warranty, they plugged in their tech code reader and determined it was throttle body. I was given a concierge vehicle and informed it would take them the weekend to fix. When I picked the vehicle up they charged me saying that it would not be covered under the warranty and tried to make me pay for the rental and I have still not been reimbursed for the repairs that should have been covered under warranty or the rental car. The service agent at the dealership printed off where it clearly states that it should be covered. This is a dangerous problem and should be recalled.

Car stalls with no warning, stalled in mid right turn, on freeway, on narrow 2 lane road. Dealer wants me to drive car with a monitor in it so I can press button when stall occurs, this while trying to keep control of the vehicle. Have had issue with metal shavings in oil, timing chain, excessive use of oil.
After about a year of owning this vehicle, we have experienced several issues with engine related problems starting in 2011 to current recent issue on 30/2014. We have been to the dealer for several "repairs" and have continued to have additional problems. On several occasions the vehicle has stalled while driving, engine shifts hard/delayed while driving, excessive oil loss between oil changes. Oil is changed and added before every 3,000 miles or sooner in recent months due to low oil and engine making "knocking" sound. Took vehicle to dealer for recent noise and engine light. They are stating it needs engine work done for oil being "burned" in engine through the exhaust in excess of $1600. Listed several items that need repair in conjunction with this issue.
Car was having rough idling and intermittent stalling at stops starting about a week ago. Stalled at light yesterday and couldn't keep it started; happened to be across the street from dealership. Shop indicated it was due to late oil change (low and dirty oil). Only potential issue identified was the cam shaft actuators sticking but indicated there were no bulletins or recalls and it was just from the late oil change. Upon further research, I have found a lot of information indicating there have been a lot of stalling and actuator issues with this vehicle and there really would be no reason at all my oil would be low of course (last oil change had been 7000 miles ago - I commute to work daily so the miles add up quickly). I'm definitely anticipating further issues but so far since yesterday, just the oil change has improved the rough idling and no stalling yet. With the number of complaints I've seen on line (and even my CO-worker guessed I had an Equinox when I described the issue because he has had 2 actuator replacements and timing chain replaced), I'm finding it very hard to believe the dealer didn't know these issues are out there.
2010 Chevrolet Equinox. Consumer writes in regards to timing chain recall did not fix the problem. The consumer stated the timing chain was installed on April 24, 2013. Five months later, the vehicle was running rough, stalling and shaking and rattling while it was in idle. He received a recall notice for the timing chain. The service department informed him, the recall was serviced during the April 24, 2013 visit. On November 22,2013 another timing chain was installed. The consumer has experienced several problems with the vehicle, since April 2011. The dealer replaced a worn compressor, the balance shaft chains, oxygen sensor, high pressure fuel pump, intake actuator, intake solenoid and the transfer case.
Our 2010 Equinox 2lt 2. 4l (4 cyl) that we bought in Aug. 2009 started having stalling/rough idle problems after a year, we took it to the dealer 5 times. They kept saying that there is casting sand clogging the solnoids. They claimed to clean it out each time. They finally gave us a new engine but we don't feel safe driving it because we are starting to feel the same problems again. There is a bullitin for all this. We have contacted gm and they won't help us. I guess we will have to call a lemon lawyer. I have seen others with this problem. Why won't gm do anything for us or reall it?.
On Aug 15, 2010 my new chevy Equinox, with only 717 miles on it, stalled in the middle of the st. It was towed (mirak Chevrolet) on Sunday Aug 15th, and they didn't fix the problem until tues. Aug 24th. In the interim I had been told that they didn't know what the problem was and finally a whole new transmission had to be ordered. I have called the Chevrolet corp. And the gm executive offices to inform them that this is completely unacceptable. A brand new car only 3 weeks old should not need a new transmission. I told them that I dont want the car because I have a child and I do not feel safe in it. Gm told me that there was nothing that they could do; I had to take it back. On Nov 1st I was driving home with my daughter after work and my car stalls again in rush hour traffic. This time I had my vehicle towed to the dealership that I brought it from (quirk Chevrolet), and called gm again to notify them of what happened. The service advisor who was dealing with my vehicle [xxx] said that the problem this time was due to debris getting into the cam shaft screen/filter. I told gm that I do not want that car anymore, either give me a new car or refund my money and I will take my business elsewhere. Again, they told me that I have to take the car back and there was nothing they could do. I told them that this is a vehicle that stalls in the middle of the street while driving. This is a huge safety issue! on Nov. 4th I went to the dealership to get my car. [xxx] let me transfer my belongings in the service garage, told me drive out of the garage. As I was pulling out of the garage I tried to avoid hitting another car but didn't clear the turn, I wound up scrapping and damaging the side of my car[xxx]didn't guide me nor did he tell me to stop when I was about to hit the side of the garage, he just stood there watching. His manager ([xxx]) came out and told me I have to get my insurance to pay for it. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
