Check Engine Light On problems of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled. The driver's side seat failed to move up and down. Additionally, the vehicle was consuming an extreme amount of oil. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact called sands Chevrolet � surprise (16991 w waddell rd, surprise, az 85388, (623) 428-1865) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who referred the contact to the local dealer. The contact stated that failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 14v447000 (seats). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the timing chain failed and the transmission failed, causing the vehicle to no exceed 20 mph with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the transmission failed to shift into reverse. An independent mechanic was contacted and the contact was informed that the transmission and timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

Vehicle was in motion approximately 45 mph when check engine light came on, message then appeared that engine power is reduced and speed immediately dropped to around 15 mph and then to a rough idle at approx 5-10mph. Was almost rear ended by vehicle traveling behind me. I was able to limp remaining 2 miles home and contacted dealer. Appointment was made and dealer reported code p2135 and replaced throttle body. . Dealer said throttle didn't know up from down. Dealer stated this is a common problem with the Equinox. I have read many complaints online about this same issue with other owners reporting being put in a dangerous position with the sudden drop in speed like we were. I contacted chevy gm and they said there were no recalls. If rapid acceleration has been treated by other companies as recall worthy, I dont understand why chevy does not consider this recall worthy. Computer chip malfunction, stability trac, smoke from exhaust with fumes released into the interior,, driver seat malfunction, and other that I cannot do it into words , this all happened when vehicle had 138,000 miles and also check engine light , fuel pump , ignition compartment, vehicle is a 2010 chevy Equinox all wheel drive ltz and also the awd does not work lights flickering multiple malfunctions wheels lock up something with the differential I don't know it does not even shift when I put it in the manual I've done everything I could to get inspections and I cannot find the right dealer to give me an answer they all just want my money and I'm an honest person and I want to help a great mechanic out by bringing them business and referring them customers I don't know what to do I'm stuck I need help please I have a one-year-old son I have a family and we have one vehicle and it's the chevy Equinox, OH and also there's two different size tires being that it's all-wheel drive the front tires have smaller wheels I mean smaller tires than there is on the rears so both fronts and passenger are smaller than the re ar driver and rear passenger the ones on the rear are correct and was supposed to be on that came out of factory they're supposed to be all four of the same of the ones that are on the rear because of the fact it's all wheel drive and they can mess up the transmission and I think it did but I'm not sure I need professional help ASAP thank you so much and have a blessed day.

The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated and the reduced engine power message displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was restarted and driven to all american Chevrolet of san angelo (203 bryant blvd n, san angelo, TX 76903) where the throttle body was replaced however, the failure recurred. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered with a message stating �all four wheels are off� displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer where the front hub bearing and passenger's side front wheel speed sensor were replaced. The contact called back to the same dealer to report an issue with the transmission. While on her way to the dealer, the vehicle hesitated without warning while driving at various speeds. While inspecting of the vehicle, the contact discovered transmission fluid had leaked all over her engine. The contact had the vehicle towed back to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered $400. 00 towards the cost of a new engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 115,721.

"takata recall" so for the last month or so I've been driving and or just at a stoplight or a stop sign and my car would go in a power mode and I can't get out of 10 miles per hour its saying something about tract system and my check engine light comes on I would have to pull over and turn the car off for a couple minutes for it to get out of that mode but sometimes it don't even do it. It can do it 10 times the time that I'm driving it's very unsafe and as I'm reading all of these complaints everyone or a lot of people is having this issue it's very scary and I'm still paying on this car I only had it for just about two years right now I would please like to find out what's going on with my car before I have to pay a lot of money to get it fixed when we don't know what's wrong with it.

Whgen aplying pressure tot he gas pedal the engine begeins to rev up and not go any faster; even if the gas pedal is pushed harshly. The check engine light did illuminate. The vehicle was not towed and it is sitting in the contac't parents driveway. The dealer at new holland auto group (877) 217-8936 508 w main st, new holland, PA 17557 was contacted and they did nothing about the vehicle failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed. The failure mileage was 137,000. Jw.

Variable valve timing chain issue as with the previous years models that have had problems. 2007 to 2009 model years were recalled for this same issue and the 2010 model year v6 is havig the same problem. Codes p0016 and p0017. Crankshaft and camshaft correlation. Check engine light illuminates. Same problem as 2007 thru 2009 that were covered. I called gm but they said the recall did not cover my VIN specific.

Engine loses power abruptly, power train light and check engine light on.

Each year, when outside temperatures are cold, the check engine light comes on and the engine loses power either while driving or idle, and the vehicle runs very rough.

Timing chian expanded causing check engine light on and fog on front winshield in the morning and at times during the day.

"takata recall" while driving and approaching a stop sign on a city street in town, the car started aggressively shaking and several lights turned on - service stabilitrack, engine power reduced mode and the check engine light- thankfully we were able to safely pull off the road as the car would not exceed 25mph. After the first time we took it in and they flushed the throttle body. Less than 2 moths later the exact same problem occurred while driving in town. Took it back in and they completely replaced the throttle body. Here we are a few months later and now the car will not even start with the same icons appearing on the dash! if this were to happen on the freeway at 65 mph and it kick me down to 25 mph that is a serious accident waiting to happen.

While driving on city streets, my gas pedal became unresponsive. The car began to slow down. Unable to keep my speed, I was unable to make a stoplight and had to stop. While my foot was on the brakes, the rpm for my vehicle were steadily at 6-7000. As the light turned green, I put my foot on the gas pedal, received a jolt as if the car was accelerating, but was slowly making my way up to 20 mph. As the time took near 30 seconds to make the climb on a flat road to 20 mph, I decided for my safety to hit my emergency flashers. Around that time, the check engine light came on. I pulled to a side street and hit 'onstar'. They were able to give me two codes that appeared. P0776 and p0700. While talking to onstar, my car was in park and again the engine was pushing 7000 rpms. I was barely able to make it to my house as the car was barely able to maintain it's speed. The next morning I was curious if I was able get the car out of my driveway or if it could move in a forward motion. I was forced to push my car out of my driveway as I could not go in reverse at all and again I noticed that the car could barely move forward. After having my car returned from specialist in transmissions, they gave me pictures of what they found. Which I included five with the complaint. The issue after talking to the dealership is a very common problem and by reading those two codes were able to instruct me the parts that broke inside the transmission without opening it up or checking the transmission fluid.

Four times within the last two months the stabile symbol, check engine symbol, and reduced engine power alert have come on. The first time happened when I was parking, the 2nd time when I let the car warm up, the 3rd time when I was doing 60mph on the expressway and the 4th time when I had gone about 5 blocks on a city street. Each time I was driving, the car slowed down and became hard to control. I was able to get off the road and cut off the engine. After sitting for about 5 minutes, the reduced power alert went off and I was able to drive. The check engine light stayed on. After about a day the check engine light went out. The car will run ok for a day or two and then start to act up again. I was told that it probably has something to do with the gas medal, however the dealer hasn't been able to detect a code. I am concerned that I will be on the highway going at a high speed when it happens and not be able to get out of the way of other traffic.

Check engine light on. Diagnosed as variable cam shaft solenoids. Second of three vehicles we own that have this engine, this happened within one week. Same engine, different vehicles, different drivers.

Check engine light came on and found out that the code p 0010 was found during a scan by the dealer. Contacted gm for the 100,000 power train warranty they offer on this vehicle only to find out that the cam shaft position solenoid is not covered and will cost my 108. 75 for the diagnosis scan and 157. 00 for the part, why is gm offering the powertrain 100,000 warranty on there engines when only certain parts are covered. Is there any recalled on the engines for the chevy Equinox engine made in 2010.

I had to purchase an entirely new a. C system at 50k miles. They put the hose directly on the engine when building the car. Therefore, the heat burned a hole into the hose which caused the system to overheat, resulting in the need for the entire a. C. System to be replaced. A month later, the car began stalling and misfiring while at stop lights. Then, it progressed to misfiring while car accelerates. I was on the interstate when my car completely shut off! I was lucky to pull off to the side road as I had my 5 year old daughter in the vehicle with me. The check engine light turns on and off randomly. Apparently, at 50k miles, the computer system needed to be replaced. This is apparently the cause for the issues (per a mechanic). I've replaced the battery on this car 3 times. I'm still paying the car off and have put so much money into it from it falling apart at 50k miles!.

At about 40,000 miles noticed that vehicle was loosing or using oil. Carried to the shop and no problem could be found. At 50,000 miles engine started knocking and engine light came on. Carried to the shop, found that timing chain bracket had broken. Replaced timing chain, bracket , and gaskets. Two months later check engine light appears again. Take it to shop. Ran die through engine to find out where oil loss is , checked timing chain again, changed oil, checked fuel pump, reading for check engine light was O2 sensor but nothing was done about it. It's been three weeks and check engine light is on again. Car computer first sayed stabilizer bar needed checking. Got that light off and car will at least go over 30miles per hour but check engine light is still on. Got to carry it back to the garage. Something really needs to be done for the consumers that own a 2010 Equinox. This is just ridiculous.

2010 chevy Equinox will lose power at any speed. I have lost power on the interstate at 65mph, local driving at 40mph as well as stopping at a traffic light. It pretty much just happens out of the blue endangering my life as well as the vehicles around me. The check engine light will come on but does not stay on. If I turn the vehicle off , it will restart and may run fine for days or weeks afterward. I have contacted gm , but to date have not had the issue resolved.

Start-up noise coming from engine, sounds very similar to running a diesel. Vehicle is experiencing rough idle, or near stalling/complete stall out at a low throttle opening. Check engine light came on throwing codes p0014 and p0011. Vehicle is also burning through at least 2 quarts of oil each week and not receiving the expected amount of gas mileage (only about 1/2). These issues are very similar to those recorded for recall 11195a on the 2011 Equinox model with the 2. 4l engine. My 2010 is no longer covered under gm's powertrain warranty and would like to see this recall extended for the 2010 models as I am not the only one experiencing these problems. . Read more...

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the cam shaft actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the check engine light illuminated and the air conditioning failed. In addition, the contact stated that the engine fans would continue running for 20 minutes after the vehicle had been powered off. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who informed the contact that they were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact took the vehicle to a second dealer and was told that the heating center was failing. The contact spoke to the manufacturer in regard to NHTSA recall campaign id number: 09v489000 (visibility: defroster/defogger system) but the manufacturer advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall campaign. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 15,000.

While driving down I-95s, the 2010 Equinox lost power and the stability control light along with the check engine light came on. The car was pulled to the side of the interstate and eventually was flat-beded to a local chevy dealer. Once the car was looked at by the dealer they informed me that the timing chain failed and the whole motor would need replaced.

I was driving down the road and the car was jerking back and forth like I was hitting the gas and brake over and over. I stopped at a stoplight and the engine made another jerk and then died. There were no engine lights or faults. I started the vehicle again and immediately died again. I started it again and was able to drive for about another mile before I was stopped at a stoplight and died again. It did this two more times before I reached home. I had the vehicle towed to a gm service center. They acknowledged this wasn't the first issue with this model of vehicle which is an actuator problem. They recommended I change the oil more frequently which I did but less than a year later the vehicle again experienced the same issue. Another service center acknowledged it was a common issue but that they can only replace the actuator if it has failed.
