14882 special coverage adjustment-plugged pcv orifice in intake manifold. Dealer in columbus ne. 68601 ernest auto sales told me my 2010 VIN. Number not listed for the recall back main seal blowed out no warranty . I see other people same problem with seal and again are cars not covered. I own 2 equinons 2010 and 2018. . Maybe I need to look at other brands instead if you have a know problem and wont stand behind your product that's sad you make your decision and ill make mine!!! I was driving it started to smoke a little plus could smell it when I stoped.
Driving on state highway when vehicle started acting like it would die. I was almost home and when I parked it found it had almost no oil in vehicle after checking it before traveling home. Oil light did not come on. Mechanic says frozen pcv valve in rear crankshaft; it could have blown and left me stranded or in accident; mechanic said there was a recall but my particular VIN wasn't included.
On Monday 1/21/2019, my car broke down on the side of a busy four lane road. I had it towed to my mechanic's shop where the problem was diagnosed as a bad pcv valve system. This part is engineered very poorly and gm has continued to use it anyway. The pcv valve system allows water to collect in it and then freeze, in return blowing out the rear main seal so the engine no longer holds oil. Currently, gm has a "recall" on this part, gm bulletin #14882, which should cover a car of the exact same make, model, and year as mine for up to 120,000 miles or 10 years. Mine falls within both of those specs. However, when contacting gm about this recall, I have been informed that this specific recall "does not include my VIN#. " after researching, I've discovered this is a much larger problem than gm is willing to take responsibility for, as it is happening to many of their customers nationwide and they're all being told the same thing I was, that it doesn't match the VIN#. I spent two days making phone calls, being on hold, and waiting for a return phone call from someone in the "executive department. " because I couldn't wait to have a working car while waiting on their phone call, I instructed my repair man to fix my car and now I'm being told gm will not help me at all because I had it repaired on my own accord. When trying to order this part to repair my car, my repair man discovered that this part is backordered through gm, because everyone needs it replaced. The shop my car is being repaired through has had three Equinoxes come into their shop since Tuesday for the exact same problem, and they've all been told the same thing I have by gm customer service. . . And that's just one small shop in ohio. I'd like gm to extend the recall to cover not just mine, but all cars this part has been used on, and also cover the expenses to repair the engine in my car that it damaged.
My vehicle is experiencing the same issues as reported in gm service bulletin 14882. I was told my VIN was not covered under that's bulletin. I have spent $800 so far on repairs. Recently all the oil was lost through blown seal due to pressure build up in the engine. Excess moisture was found in air box near pcv hose.
Bulletin #14882. My car is at 124,532 miles when the rear main seal blew out due to freezing of the pcv valve. After many times of this car being in the shop getting repaired, they weren't willing to take any of the responsibility and fix it, due to the miles of the car being barely over their limit. I feel they should have done something to help me out.
Pcv system failure with a blown rear main seal. While driving down the highway the rear main seal blew to a known faulty design by gm. This caused the vehicle to loose all power & oil on the highway. Tried to get the vehicle to the side of the road, almost hitting over cars due to loss of power. This was later determined investigated and found to be a known pcv system failure. Gm is aware of the many of reports of the 2. 4 motor & the problems. This is all covered under gm bulltein 14882: special coverage adjustment plugged pcv orifice in intake manifold 2010-2014 Buick Chevrolet GMC.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer (kern Chevrolet Buick GMC, 218 s walnut st, celina, OH 45822) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain failed and the bottom half of the engine was gone. The dealer gave the contact a loaner vehicle and replaced the engine for free since the mileage was less than 100,000. The contact requested the warranty on the new motor, but was informed that the warranty paperwork had to remain in the files. The contact could not receive the warranty or a copy of the warranty. At 42,000 miles later, the new engine failed due to the timing chain. The contact asked about the warranty and was informed that there was no warranty on the new engine. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the first engine was replaced free of charge, but the second engine would have to be paid for out of pocket. The manufacturer was contacted a second time and the contact was informed that there was a three year warranty on the new engine. When the manufacturer was contacted a third time at the dealer, the contact was informed of the same thing as when she called them initially. The contact stated that there was a pcv valve recall. Since ohio was not a cold state, the manufacturer stated that the recall would not be honored. The vehicle remained at the dealer since the second week of December 2017. The dealer provided a loaner vehicle, which was still in use by the contact. The failure mileage was 42,000.
I experienced sudden deceleration while driving on the interstate in winter conditions. Many near accidents occurred while I struggled to maintain control and exit the interstate as soon as possible. Loud knocking from the engine and a strong gas smell immediately followed. The engine stalled several times when I came to a complete stop, such as intersections as I went straight to a nearby Chevrolet dealer. I was informed the rear main seal blew out causing a sudden loss of oil pressure. They also said this happened due to high positive pressure in the crankcase due to a frozen or blocked pcv valve. Gm is aware of the issue as stated in the general motors service bulletin 14882. However, gm says my VIN does not apply in this case. Due to the severity of the issue, I felt it was important to let someone know so other people with similar vehicles could be notified of the extreme hazard.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox the contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph and making a left turn, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired by the dealer. The contact was informed that the pcv positive crankcase ventilation had seized, which over pressurized the engine and caused the rear main seal to malfunction. The rear main seal was replaced. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 80,000.
No oil on the dipstick after 3 months and 3000 miles since they replaced my drive chain and added oil I experienced no heat and transmission irregularity. Added 4 qts of oil and called chevy dealer. Took it in and they are replacing the rings and valves which were leaking oil into the crankcase and I was burning the oil. It will take a week to fix. They gave me a free rental car. I am concerned that this may have caused some damage to the engine.
