2 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

A little over a month ago, I began experiencing an issue with my 2006 chevy Equinox. The heat stopped working. The fan would work and blow air - but no heat. I took my vehicle to a gm dealership to have them look at the issue. Immediately upon telling them the symptoms, they diagnosed my vehicle without even looking at it. The service rep told me that it was "known issue" with the Equinox, that almost 4 out of 5 vehicles of that make/model/year have the same problem. He told me the good news was that the part to fix it was only $65, but the bad news was that the labor was $1000. I was told that the hinge on the temperature blend door" was broken at the actuator and that the entire dash assembly would have to be removed to get to the broken part. I took my vehicle to another dealership and had almost the same answer - although, to their credit, they did actually look at the vehicle before diagnosing it. Both of these gm/chevy dealerships shook their heads and almost laughed at me - saying that it was a "known issue". I decided that I shouldn't have to pay $1000 to fix a "known issue", so I called chevy customer service. Keep in mind that my vehicle is sitting at the dealership during all this. After more than a week, chevy tells me that my warranty expired (I was 20k miles over the warranty) and that there is nothing they can do about it. They convince the dealership to knock 10% off my bill. Gee. . . Thanks.

3 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

In July of this year, it was a 100 degree day in charleston, and my wife had our 2 years old daughter in her car seat. My wife had the airconditioning on, and the car running, and she checked the mail, for some reason, the locks on the doors engaged, and my daughter was locked in the car. I immediatley called the dealer, and I brought the car in for service. They had my vehicle for over a week. They returned the vehicle to me and informed me that they had redone all the wiring and that it should all be fixed, and it wouldnt happen again. Then as fate would have it, our rear view camera started going in and out randomly, but we didnt think anything of it, then sure enough, once again in September, I had my daughter out to lunch, I placed her in her seat, strapped her in, and laid the keys down next to her, the doors were all unlocked, I closed the back door, went to open the front door, and the locks engaged once again. This time the ac was not running. My wife had a key but was about 45 min away. This time, the baby was in there for over half an hour, and was a hysterical mess. I immediatley called the dealer again, obviously much more upset this time, and asked them to explain what was going on. They had no answer and asked me to bring it in again. I brought the vehicle in, they had it for over 2 weeks and informed me that they had reset everything to factory specs, and given me 2 new key fobs, as they thought the fobs may have been causing the issue. I got the car back and within an hour, of getting the car back, the camera went out on the dashboard. I called the sales manager again, and he came and picked the vehicle up. The only thing we have been told and I quote is "we are chasing a gremlin in the wiring system", they cant figure out what it is, they want to put me in a new 2015. Gm corporate cannot offer any resolution outside of a new key fob.

When turning off the vehicle the key will not release from the ignition and can not be removed. After about 30 seconds you can hear a click and then the key will release and can be removed, but until you hear the click it can not be removed from the ignition.

6 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

The engine light on and stabilitity trak needs service?.

7 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 03/19/2014

The 2012 chevy Equinox stall constantly below 30 mph. It stalls at least 2 to 3 times trying to back out of garage to move it 10 feet. The idle startes off smooth but within 10 seconds the Equinox starts idling rough and jerking, then it stalls. When stopped at stop light the Equinox jerks back and forth, when I give it gas to go, the Equinox jerks foward and usually dies on me. It burns a large amout of gas and oil, I have to refill the oil up at least once a week. I have changed the oil myself and found the oil is saturated with metal filings. The check engine light comes on and off repeatedly. I have already replaced the battery twice because of a dead cell. I have replaced the front right tire due to a blow-out at 24,000 miles and dealership refused to replace it, saying I hit something and it could not have blown out. The entire navigation system in out and the lights flicker in the cup holders. The tire pressure sensors when out for at least 5 days and it started working again with no repair of the system. This is not a safe vehicle to drive considering, I don't know when it is going to stall drining down the highway. A recall is mandatory for full replacement!!!!.

8 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 03/05/2014

I filed a different report earlier for the same vehicle. Now the vehicle is starting on its own, if the key is left in the ignition when you turn it off, about 30 seconds to 1 minute later the car will start with no one behind the wheel. It will continue to try to start until you pull the key out. It is just the key in the ignition, no key chain hanging from it. Last week Apr 29,2014 the car started and ran for 10 second with the ignition off. How long before the vehicle jumps into gear and runs someone over with no one behind the wheel? I found out that this website does not investigate any report unless you pay $50. 00 plus, whatever else they want for it.

9 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 02/19/2014

Collision alert system flashes red and the Equinox brakes grab on and off, sometimes once and sometimes several times for no apparent reason - distance from other vehicles ahead is more than adequate, speed is moderate, no approaching cars. It seem that the system taps the brakes and then releases . This has happened 5 to 6 times even when no vehicles are in front and the driving conditions are normal - roads clear and dry, some overcast, no cars approaching from the other lane. The dealer is at a loss as to what is causing this.

10 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 02/12/2014

First off, sometimes my vehicle when in park acts like it may turn off, but doesn't. Can hear/feel the vibrations like its about to. Secondly, the main reason I'm on this page, the a/c. It just stopped woking out of the blue and making a noise. I take it in and told the condesnor has a leak and needs replaced as well as the condenser which is making the noise. Wow, quoted from one place $1,084 the other place I only got a quote on the condenser of $424. . No telling what the compressor will be. After looking online and seeing so many exquinox vehicles having ac issues I hoped there was a recall on the parts, unfortunately not the case. 2011 and need a new condenser and compressor for a/c wow!! car shaking like its gonna die. . . Wow!! this vehicle was purchased about a year and half ago. . And having to sink in over $1000 for these replacements! no telling what the engine vibration during idle is from, going to have that checked out soon. Oh and one other thing, when a tire is low, it appears to shows up backwards on the screen.

11 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/24/2014

I have had all kind of trouble out of this vehicle. First it was the wheel bearings. Change one an not long after have to change another. Have changed about 4. Three on one wheel an one on the other. And now have to change another that I can tell. Then it started with brakes recently. They would stick. Had brakes replaced that didn't fix the problem. Brake lights came on vehicle. Then went off haven't came on since but brakes have stuck more than one time. Very dangerous. Now to get with the air in the vehicle that I have seen several complain about. While car is sitting still the vehicle will stay warm an warm air blowing out. Where it has been cold when driving the car the temp would go down on vehicle making the air blow out cool an I about freeze to death driving. Windows fog up fast. Need a recall if so many people are have the same issue/issues. Can cause major problems if not addressed or fixed. I don't let me kids ride in the car with me anymore cause of this.

12 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 07/22/2013

My 2006 Chevrolet Equinox has a un -fixable [per dealer] a. C. Problem. Driving in florida with temps in the high nines in traffic the temp inside the car is much higher. Being in our seventies I nearly passed out while driving. This problem is rampart on google with hundreds of the same issue. Trying to drive with in-car temp. Over 112 is scary and not safe.

13 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

The fuel pump module was leaking fuel, as discovered by my mechanic. The pump had to be changed at great expense. Why has this problem not been addressed across the board for Equinox, instead of selective state registered as mentioned in the gm recall ? I could have had a potential fire had I not detected fuel fumes when I did. Thank you,.

14 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/02/2013

Been having off and on problems with driver side air bag coming on and off. It will appear for maybe a week then go off totally for months. I took it in to the dealer where I bought and they ran a test and said it would be over 400. 00 to fix. Not sure what to do as this is just once in awhile service airbag! has there been any other problems with this make and model. ? not sure what to do. Hate spending all this money if it is just a fluke. Thank you for your help on this matter.

15 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 05/07/2012

Heat is blowing cold air. Replaced thermostat and did not help. No heat. Read on-line and seems to be a common complaint with this year/this vehicle.

16 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 12/28/2011

Heater stopped blowing hot air which causes the windows to unsafely fog up on cold snowy and or rainy days. All visibility is gone as the inside fogs up wipers are unable to clear the glass. May cause potential serious accidents. It is to my knowledge this is happening with every 2006 Equinox out there. The actuator goes out of alignment causing the blend door to break and not allow the heat in.

17 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/22/2011

We were driving on highway at approximately 70 mph when there was a vey load boom and we unexpectedly realized that the sunroof glass had shattered, some of which dropped down inside the SUV. The sunroof shade was 7/8 way closed which prevented most of the glass from riding down on us. We were on the open road , no overpass, no road debries flying up, no evidence of anything striking the closed sunroof. Climate condition , temp was around 50 degrees. Partly sunny. We do feel that if the shade on the sunroof had not been almost closed, we would have been involved in a crash if this sunroof glass had dropped down on us. Traffic at this time was fairly heavy! dealer claims there have been no other incidents of this type. Inspection of the sunroof glass revealed that the center of the glass had shattered and cracked glass was still in the sunroof frame. The sunroof was closed at time of this incident.
