Carrier/rack Problems of Chevrolet Equinox

The vehicle was parked overnight (stationary) in a driveway. In the morning, there was a large crack in the windshield. I was not a particularly cold night (florida). I do not know the fault that caused the crack. It could be faulty tempering, faulty installation, or something else. It is unlikely for a windshield to spontaneously crack in a modern car without a fault.

I noticed a strong exhaust smell inside the cabin of my vehicle. It seems to be stronger when sitting parked (I. E. At the grocery store or at a long stop light). Service shops found a hole in exhaust resonator and a crack in the exhaust manifold which 2 auto service shops indicate are "extremely common in 2013 chevy Equinox". Additionally, it appears 2011 models had a recall on the exhaust system as well.

Vehicle was parked in the driveway. Without warning the rear windshield glass shattered completely. There were no cracks, or chips.

2015 Chevrolet Equinox. I was driving on the highway at 60 mph when sunroof shattered. I heard a loud noise and did not see anything that could have hit my car. I pulled the cover back on the sunroof to see if I could see what happened. The only thing I could see was glass cracked into a million pieces. The sunroof shattered out of no where. Glass flew off the top of my SUV while other drivers were behind me, which put many drivers in danger. First my wipers stop working out of the blue and now my sunroof shatters. These vehichles are defective and not safe to drive. Recalls should be issued for the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox in the united states before someone is seriously injured or looses their life.

I was driving one day and these lights popped on out of no where the exhaust resginator cracking the car constantly has wheel bearing issue and the engine is burning oil it's not doing what it's supposed to do with it. I was driving on the l-90 thruway at 65 mph. I. Am also having head light blowing I have changed the headlights 4 times this year.

At red light,my car cut out. Wouldn't turn over. Had it towed and my mechanic said it was timing chains, which affected engine. Checked 8 of 16 valves that were bent, along w/8 rocker arms cracked and torn off. $4000 to fix this issue, money I do not have. Mechanic said gm knows about these issues and refuses to do a recall on this issue that has been going on for ten plus years.

Bought a used chevy Equinox and the manifold cracked, costly repair that I was informed seems to be a recurring safety issue being addressed 10 plus times a month by this center alone. As this seems to be a frequent and known defect that can cause death if not found and fixed I believe that chevy should acknowledge the safety concern and issue a recall rather than waiting to see people pass away because they can't afford or are unaware of the danger.

Driving on highway, my car make a loud bang, it said transmission overheating idle engine, engine overheating, idle engine, service stabilitrack, service anti lock breaking system, service power steering system, my engine light was flashing, I went to exit the highway to the off ramp and all of a sudden my car came to a screeching halt and car would not move made the loudest bang I have ever heard. I have had this issue one other time! the dealership claimed my transmission had a leak but no leak marks in my brand new driveway, they told me to drive it for 200 miles so they can figure out where the leak is, this was all said the day I had my oil changed, then when I can back after driving 200 miles they then claimed my oil pan was leaking and needed to be replaced. Thank god my bumper to bumper warranty was still in effect. They looked shocked when I explained to them that and I would not be paying for it.

Exhaust manifold cracked in 2 places causing life threatening CO conditions inside idling car. Seems to be a common complaint on the vehicles with 2. 4 liter ecotec engine. Roughly a $1000 expense to fix with a new manifold. Not warrantied or recalled item. It should be a recall issue.

January 8th it was raining really heavy and I was on my way to work while I was driving down a busy city street to work the windshield wipers just suddenly stopped. Also right after I've gotten my car my car was making a loud noise I took it to the shop and they told me there's a crack in the exhaust both of these problems he said are very common in all the Equinox and they actually have a recall for this problem with the 2013 chevy Equinox.

Sunroof problems, I was driving down the interstate. It was a nice day about 73 degrees with nobody around the vehicle and suddenly I heard a loud noise (sounded like a shotgun going off). I investigated by opening the sunroof sunshade and could see the sunroof had shattered upwards. I continued about a mile and exited off interstate and looked at the sunroof from the outside of the Equinox and you could hear it continuing to crack. I decided at that point to take a secondary road home about 4 miles and lost a piece of the sunroof before I got back home. I turned the vehicle into the dealer and of course they stated it had to be an impact. I am sure there was no impact, this sun roof exploded upwards. There need to be some type of poly glass in this type of roof to prevent shattered glass from flying off and hitting other vehicles and to protect the occupants from danger.

Onstar bracket does not stay tight causing a rattling in front of vehicle, when gas pedal is pressed (vehicle moving).

Exhaust manifold cover issue -the car made a loud noise when I start the car. I took it to an auto repair place when noise was unbearable and found that the exhaust manifold cover was cracked and that was causing toxic air pushed back into the car when I turn on a/c or heat which is hazardous to the occupants health. So I needed to get it fixed ASAP. I googled to see if there is any recall or warranty extension on this part so I can take it to the dealership and there was no recall or warranty extension on this part. I researched online and came across complains from other chevy owners regarding this issue (complains seen online). I contacted chevy to complain about this issue as well as see if they would reimburse the money I spent on this repair (over $600) and they told me I should have taken it to their dealership where in reality would have cost me more than $1000 if there is no recall or warranty extension on this part (the chevy folks are aware that there is no recall on this part). I believe this is a health hazard for people who are not aware of this problem and drive around with a cracked exhaust manifold cover because they cannot afford to make that expensive repair. I contacted another auto repair place and they told me the same thing about toxic gas being pumped into the car if that cover is not fixed.

The tail gait window exploded from no reason. It had been sitting in son at work and cracked into thousands of little pieces with a 2 foot by 8 inch section exploding and living a hole. My dealer, dale earnhardt GMC tallahassee FL, refuses to do anything saying it is not a gm problem. I didn't do anything and there are lots of other instances of this happening to other GMC and other manufacturer models. My car was stationary and in my parking lot at work.

Chevy eqanox recall. When raining or on wet roads or snow this light pops up and says engine reducing power and says service stability track then shuts the car down I think that this is a recall because several of individuals I kno have chevys and have this issue I took to dealership they never. Figured out for me .

Wasn't informed about the excessive oil consumption. Letter never made it to my house. Excessive oil consumption has caused the catalytic converter to fail prematurely . Chevy issued a special warranty but it disqualifies you if you have more 120k miles. Chevy has known about this issues since 2011 but intentionally waited to issue special bulletin because they wanted to disqualify as many people as possible. . The service rep told me since I didn't pay the previous repair (which were manufacturer defects) that I am basically responsible for the repairs. This car has had over 4 major repairs that were due to manufacturer defects but the rep is saying that since I'm the original owner they won't assist me. I told her the issue is with the car, it has nothing to do with the ownership which is why you're issuing all the special warranties. None of the major repairs that were done on this car are listed in the vehicle history report on carfax or on the gm owner site where it states that such reports will appear. I got the service report from the dealership when I saw the sales associate with it. I told the rep had the information about the excessive oil consumption been listed on my chevy profile I would have had the issue fixed thus saving the catalytic converter. She still claimed it was sent. The catalytic converters need to be recalled without exception. Honda replaced my cracked my engine block no questions asked! they have honored ever warranty I've ever had and fixed every manufacturer defect without drama. I cannot say that about chevy. They have caused me nothing but stress over issues they created and have gotten away with it and today I just learned that my car now has a fuel pump recall.

Around the whole airbag on passenger side is cracked and on the steering wheel a crack is starting on top part.

The car was in park & I was sitting in it on the top of my driveway. I was about to open the door when it started to roll backwards while still in park. It started to pick up speed & did not stop until it hit a tree. I was so shocked by what was happening & the fact that I live on the river even though nearly 900 feet away all I could think of was it was going to roll straight in the river. I jumped out of the car & severely injured myself with a concussion , cracked ribs & a broken nose. The car was in park & started to roll while still in park. When it finally came to stop by hitting a tree it was still in park. My mechanic believes it is a problem with the transmission. General motors sent someone out twice & at this point we are in limbo. The car is not driveable - if we have it repaired my insurance does not feel it is a safe car to drive with out knowing the reason it rolled back. Gm has not been helpful or very forthcoming. I have many pictures but was having a problem uploading them. If you need to see them I can mail them if I still can not upload them.

The issue with the hvac appears to be a common problem, no heat just cold air, defroster will not defrost windows but fogs them all up, which is really a problem @ 65 mph on the interstate. Spoke to dealer about TSB # 11135 issued by gm may of 2012 and they could care less about what is contained in this bulletin. Went back to dealer concerning cruise control just shutting off without warning at highway speeds, they could not get vehicle to replicate this (what no fault codes). Intermittent no start when actually using key to start, dealer claims they could not replicate this also. It appears that the dealership is very good at not wanting to fix or able to replicate any of these issues. Vehicle was bought March 25, 2014 with 99,704 miles on it, current mileage is just shy of 103,000. Come on gm stand behind your product and tell your dealers to be truthful when resaling a vehicle that has a track record like this.

We just purchased our 2006 chevy Equinox on 11-15-2014 an after leaving the dealership we were caught in a snow storm and attempted to turn on the heat to warm up inside. The heat wasn't hot and the defrost would not work either and so need less to say we had to use a/c an crack the windows an constantly wipe windshield to be able to safely drive home. That being said I began to do research on the problem an as searching I am finding out that there are neuromas complaints of the chevy Equinox having the same problem I have described. Reading the complaints I have found out the repairs are costly and gm has not made any attempts to recall the faulty parts. An so I felt that I had a duty to step up an join the patrons who are also or have experienced the same problem. Unfortunately gm needs to step up an take responsibility for the problems before someone is killed because of faulty parts.

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox lt 3. 4l awd and everything worked fine, I did not use my heater allsummer long. I turned it on as of 10/10/2010 and there was no heat at all. It was only cold air. I heard this is a very common issue and in some areas can be considered a safety risk. I live in the midwest where during winter, there is always frost on windows. If I do not have heat to defrost windows or get ice and snow off, this causes a risk. And putting hot or warm water on the window risks cracking the window. Thanks for hearing me and this safety risk, it would be very nice to have this recalled as it is a common issue and is over $1000 to fix.
