I’ve had the 02 sensor, maf sensor and a system update and my check engine won’t clear I’ve been dealing with this for over 5 months now. A chevy dealership has had my vehicle and never informed me of warranty or recall issues. My check engine is throwing random code relating to the 02 sensor, lean code and multiple components having communication issues. Check engine will be lit and then clear on its own then return almost immediately.

•initial incident: July 2, 2025 •recurring occurrences: August 8, 2025 vehicle issue description: several months ago, the vehicle’s check engine light came on. A diagnostic scan was performed at o’reilly auto parts, but no error codes were detected. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop for further inspection. The shop found no mechanical issues and confirmed the vehicle was operating normally at that time. On August 6, 2025, the “service brake assist” warning appeared briefly on the dashboard but turned off shortly afterward. The parking brake warning light also came on that same day, then went off. These warning lights reappeared intermittently on August 8, 2025. No repairs have been made as there are no active recalls related to these issues. However, it is noted that there are consumer complaints reporting similar problems. This raises concerns about potential intermittent or undetected safety system faults, particularly involving the brake assist system and parking brake functionality. Checked brakes again no issues determined per bridgestone and mavis.
While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, the car suddenly stalled on a city road. This occurred in a busy area with multiple stops and traffic signals. I was accelerating after a stop when the engine cut off abruptly, without any prior warning lights or error messages. I was able to coast to a safe stop, but the incident was frightening and dangerous. The vehicle was towed to a dealership and inspected. They diagnosed the issue as a failure of the fuel pump control module (fpcm). The part was not covered under my powertrain warranty despite being essential to the operation of the vehicle. The dealer confirmed this failure and replaced the part. The total repair cost was $592. When I attempted to check my eligibility for the NHTSA campaign number 23v013000 (regarding a fuel pump defect that may cause stalling for same 2022 Chevrolet Equinox), my VIN was reported as not currently eligible, even though the issue I experienced matches the recall description. The vehicle has since been repaired and has been operating fine, while I didn’t experience any stalling, I’ve noticed the gear shifts more closely now — they feel very quick or more noticeable than before, but no warning lights have appeared. I am filing this complaint to formally document the safety issue I experienced and to request a review of my VIN in light of the recall. A sudden stall on a city road puts drivers and passengers at significant risk, and I believe this is a serious safety concern that should be investigated.

Fuel pump went out.
On [xxx], about 400 miles into our trip heading south on [xxx], the engine reduced power warning came on. We were in the fast lane traveling at 70 mph,the car immediately slowed to about 30 mph. There was no prior warning or check engine light. Vehicles behind us had to swerved and change lanes to avoid hitting us. The computer went into limp mode, when pressing the accelerator there was no power, we somehow made it to the right shoulder without getting hit and limped along to a safe spot and called a tow truck. Car was towed to an independent repair shop recommended by aaa, they ran the codes and came up with a code for high pressure fuel pump. This vehicle is a 2024 chevy Equinox with 15,018 miles on it, we bought brand new in April 2024 with 5 miles, always maintained at the dealer. Because we were 400 miles from home and the closest dealer in bakersfield said they could not work on it for 3 or 4 days, we had to have the independent shop replace the fuel pump. We had to rent a car to continue our trip and picked up the car 2 days later. Replacing the fuel pump fixed the problem but the check engine light came back on about 30 miles later. The mechanic ran the codes and said it needed the computer re-flashed but it would be safe to drive home. After we got home we took it to the dealer, they re-flashed the computer and check engine light went off. After about 30 miles later the check engine light came back on, took it back to the dealer and this time the codes showed a bad catalyst converter, dealer replaced under warranty, only 15728 miles on vehicle at this point. So far 200 miles and light is still off. I I filed a complaint with general motors customer service to let them know of this problem. I also requested to get reimbursement for the rental car and fuel pump. They refused to reimburse us because we didn't have a dealer do it, regardless of the situation. The public needs to know of this dangerous situation with the model. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552.

My fuel pump just gave out randomly while driving on the highway. Unable to drive over 14mph. I head other 2018 Equinox’s experienced this problem often. I believe my vehicle should be included as well. In the past I’ve also gotten a random alert that my forward collision was disabled while driving on the highway with no warning. It always goes away on its own.

While I was driving the engine reduce power came on. I was currently doing 75 miles and the truck dropped down to 55 miles per hour. I took it to the Chevrolet place and it needed a fuel pump , and I was advised that this has been a common issue for the Chevrolet Equinox vehicles , and my vehicle is practically brand new. This issue needs to looked into because the is dangerous and a-lot of dealerships are stating this is a common issue.
While driving, the car started making a whining sound on acceleration. As I was driving up my street the car went into limp mode and shut down, only allowing enough time to park. If this had happened on a main road or freeway it could have caused an accident due to the sudden loss of power. The issue is the high pressure fuel pump and has been confirmed by a Chevrolet dealer service center. I reported the issue to gm asking for assistance with the repair and to explore whether or not this could fall under the power train warranty. Mileage at the time of the incident was 39113. The only warning lights that appeared came on as the car went into "limp mode" but no warning prior to this incident.
Gas is getting into the crankcase because the gdi fuel pump is faulty and is causing check engine light and the stability trax light and caused the reduce engine power light and shuts engine off.

High capacity fuel pump stopped working while going up a hill. Lost all driving power on freeway and was unable to accelerate any more. Luckily there was a pull off on the freeway or I would have been on a blind turn with cars going 70mph. Had to have pump replaced at a local shop as there was no recall for 2023. 2021 and 2022 have the recall for this specific component.
The engines in the 2014 Equinox has a defect just like the silverados. . They should have had a class action suit against that as well I've spoke with many ppl who had issues with their 2. 4 eco tech engine it bucks at the stop signs cuts off and high fuel consumption.

I want to explain my case to protect a future person with this problem and that they soon take action. This has happened to me on 2 occasions. [xxx], my vehicle suddenly stopped at a speed of 55 miles on [xxx] in miami and the car dashboard showed a lack of gasoline power that the gas pump stopped working, braking the car abruptly and with a high risk that a vehicle could collide with me at high speed. I had to pay for a tow truck to the Chevrolet auto national doral dealership in miami. The vehicle only had 28,000 miles and it took a month to repair the vehicle. Time passes and on [xxx] the same thing happens to me at a speed of 60 miles on [xxx] in the city of west palm beach, the vehicle failed and braked abruptly and stopped working with the same risk that a vehicle could hit me. I had to request a tow truck for the area dealership autonation Chevrolet greenacres and they tell me that the warranty had expired because the vehicle has 54,000 miles explaining that the car has had the same problem on several occasions and that it was a factory problem and that it had been repaired recently in a year and they tell me that I have to pay $ 1,000 dollars for the repair and I want to file this complaint so that an inspection is done on that entire vehicle because they all have the same problem and they should not charge the customer for a problem due to factory defects in this vehicle. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
My vehicle has 75,607 miles and the transmission gave out randomly started stalling and jumping and it won’t switch gears correctly and this has been a problem for a lot of other Equinox’s as well.
High pressure fuel pump failure on engine block. Car cuts off, engine light on. Failed emission test.

The component that’s failed and malfunctioning is the high pressure fuel pump. Myself and my children’s safety was put at risk multiple times when the vehicle shut off multiple times and sputtering going into reduced power mode and the vehicle shutting off multiple times after it is started for at least 5-10 seconds. Yea the issue was fixed through a local Chevrolet dealership after having the vehicle for only two months and now the issues has reproduced after three months of being repaired the vehicle is back at the dealership with the same issues and awaiting a diagnostic. Vehicle is now at the dealership to be inspected and gm has been contacted regarding the issue yes after the vehicle sputtered and died displaying the check engine light afterwards with the smell of fuel immediately after this was the first time this happens two months after vehicle purchase and the second time was 90 days after vehicle was fixed.
At a stop sign while waiting for passing traffic, the car shuddered and the engined died. Attempts to restart the car failed. The car had roughly 1/4 tank of gas. Towed to a mechanic who put 2 gallons of gas in it and started the engine. Two days leading up to this, with the instrument panel on the screen that shows estimated distance remaining and fuel economy, I observed the fuel economy number changing wildly as I drove, going up to 99 mpg every time I let off the gas and coasted to a stop. Seems to be an electronic component for fuel has failed. When the car had died, the engine light came on. It was off after adding more fuel and restarting the car. Nhtsa website says there are 0 outstanding recall repairs for this VIN. So if the faulty fuel pump was replaced under NHTSA campaign 23v013000, it has failed again. Nhtsa website does not show any date/location of said prior recall repairs, so I have doubts whether it was ever actually repaired.
Vehicle engine ceased operation suddenly at highway speed on busy interstate highway making it very difficult for operator to safely get vehicle to shoulder of interstate and creating a dangerous situation for vehicle occupants and everyone involved in transporting occupants and removing the vehicle from interstate shoulder dealer service repairing vehicle indicated problem was fuel control module failure and occurs often in many late model Chevrolet vehicles.
Started into traffic and vehicle quickly slowed way down and then started to move again. At next light power lost again. Do not remember if warning light came on but it was not there prior to the incident. Towed to dealer. Fuel pump replaced. One month later accelerating to exit in heavy traffic it lost power. Engine light came on saying something to the effect engine power lost. It started back up quickly and I got safely where I was going. It was running ok so I finished another 400 miles of trip. Dealer service tech on phone said probably stabilizer did what it’s suppose to do and probably avoided something serious. Not too much driving since then but I can tell I don’t have the pick up I should have when accelerating. Afraid each time I give pressure to the pedal that it might stall again as it doesn’t pick up speed as I’ve been used to. Taking to dealer for 30,000 mile service and to check this out. Was told if no dash light warning they could check it out but probably will check out fine.
The vehicle stopped running. We brought it to the mechanic. The mechanic confirmed that it is a high-pressure fuel pump malfunction and a known issue with these vehicles. All the oil has leaked out because of this issue, which could cause a fire. There is a huge charge to replace this and the spark plugs which were affected by the leak. There is a recall for certain 2015 Equinox is because of this very issue, however ours is not covered for some reason. We would like to make a formal complaint so that our vehicle can be covered under this issue like the other 2015 Equinox with a high-pressure fuel pump malfunction.

Keep having fuel pump issues.
I have driven this car for approximately 40,000 miles without issue, and regularly have the oil changed. Based on what my mechanic told me, the fuel pump either failed or detached while I was driving on the turnpike. This resulted in a loss of oil. I was simply accelerating to pass another vehicle when several warning light illuminated. The engine made grinding noises and there was an oil-like smell. The dashboard gave me a warning to “seek engine service immediately” and that “acceleration would be limited. ” this was a potentially dangerous situation but luckily it was mid day and not in busy traffic. So I was able to safely pull over to the side of the road. I understand that Equinox models from other years were recalled — why don’t you recall the 2020 models?!.
The fuel pump on my 2023 Chevrolet Equinox began malfunctioning on [xxx] when the check engine light came on. Less than 24 hours later, the light went out. On [xxx], while leaving a cvs pharmacy, the vehicle jerked, then the engine shut off. After putting the car in park, I was able to restart the car and continue on. On [xxx], the check engine light illuminated again. While sitting at a stop light in the turn lane, as I began to push the accelerator, the vehicle once again jerked and the engine shut-off, almost causing the vehicle behind me to collide. I was able to restart the car and continue on my way. On 3/21/25, I took the car to the local Chevrolet dealership (integrity Chevrolet in chattanooga, TN). After inspecting the car, the dealer informed me the high-pressure fuel pump and fuel pump module was bad and had to be replaced. The service manager agreed this failure was not the result of operator error and should not have failed after only 2. 5 years of normal use. The conditions/symptoms are almost exactly the same as those described in gm recall notice n222372310 (dated 5/23/23). The repair cost $1,113. 46 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Fuel pump. It’s available for inspection. Left me stuck on the side of a busy highway with cars flying past. Check engine light. A message said engine power reduced had to take side streets home with hazard lights. Car would not accelerate or go over 40 mph on a 45 mph road. I had the check engine light checked at auto zone. No the vehicle has not been inspected. No warning lights before. I pushed the gas pedal down and the car had no power, started to sputter message popped up on the dash that said engine power reduced and check engine light was on. Problem started right before 4pm on 3/10/2025.
After very cold winter weather, car started to smell. Pcv valve blew and car was seizing causing it to blow out the rear systems. It had spilled oil onto the garage floor and had a bad emissions smell. Dealership said they added 3 quarts of oil and that within 30 minutes two quarts leaked out. No warning lights on dashboard, no affected cautions through the Equinox app (which still shows that I have 80% of my oil still remaining). While driving the car started making a ticking sound during acceleration and a bad smell. I am now left with a $3700 bill. Numerous others have detailed exact experiences with their Equinox after the last February, cold spell in chicagoland. I was very fearful driving the car and my safety was compromised. The car was shaking, and the smell was pungent right now my car is at the dealership so I do not have the invoice.
Fuel pump isn't pumping gas.

In Feb 2025, I was driving, a day after a snow storm, on the highway when without warning my car stopped accelerating, and just shut down. The mechanic said my oil was all over the ground. He also stated that there's a defect in the 2. 4l ecotec motors and the pistons broke on my vehicle. Now I have to pay $3500 to rebuild my motor. He stated that the vehicle has a higher oil consumption rate/ leaks and you will never know.

Pcv valve got clogged and failed, I have an extended warranty and the extended warranty excludes this from any repairs if this is involved. Caused my rear main seal to break and leak oil. Not drivable currently. Quoted 3200 on a repair. Purchased the vehicle less than 12 months ago.
This rare Equinox has a turbocharge issue that causes rapid engine power loss, and melting under the manifold and around the fuel injector pipes. The recent recalls do not include this gm made diesel Equinox due to its rarity, and small consumer ownership of 506,775 units sold in its lifetime. However, gm has been just as negligent with this diesel 1. 6l, as with the other major model lineup. Diesel particulate sensor goes bad every year around installation anniversary (previous recall). Stated every year in purchase anniversary month 10/2021, 10/2022.
High pressure fuel pump failed while driving causing a sudden loss in power. Vehicle went into limp mode and would not exceed 5 mph. Check engine light and dash warning illuminated. Vehicle had to be towed. Dealer could then not get vehicle to even start. The sudden loss of power in a traffic situation would be dangerous with the potential for another vehicle to collide from the rear due to the sudden deceleration with no brake lights.
It burns oil excessively stalls out while driving stability traction control comes on timing chain has to be replaced now fuel pump needs replacement all this happened at same time my cost is 2700. 00.
I'm aware of the history of oil consumption issues with Equinoxs, as this is my third one, but I am told by the mechanic who did the oil change that there are no leaks, yet there 8 day later, after the oil change has been preformed, there is absolutely no oil on the dip stick. I just bought this car from showcase auto sales, in chesaning, mi and they will not take it back, as they sell them as is. There was no oil then either.
The car had a full tank of gas prior to driving. While driving the car suddenly goes to empty and stalls out. Now the car won’t start and the battery works fine.
2/4/19 bulletin issued for pcv valve defect [xxx] bought car from dealer, was told nothing wrong with car [xxx] sold me a extended warranty to assure me the car would be protected [xxx] car wouldn’t start in driveway had it towed to tarr Chevrolet. [xxx] warranty refused to fix car, seems they excluded the pcv valve from warranty. The pcv valve blew the rear seal, part of the power train which I have a lifetime warranty on. But since the pcv valve caused it , they didn’t cover that either. This repair cost me $2800. 00. Living on social security that’s a lot of money. I have called chevy, the dealer and the warranty CO to no avail, I have read about all the class action suits. This is a very serious problem. The bulletin states below 0 temperatures can cause this, we live in tennessee, we don’t have that kind of weather. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
