1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 08/31/2020

At 48,500 miles approx. My transmission started slipping and failing. It started with a jolt when coming to a stop then when the light turned green and the automatic transmission went from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd it would jolt hard like it struggled to change gears. It does not show any issues on the mechanics computer. Now 2 weeks later it stalls at 14mph when going up a hill, it wont change gears and loses power going down to 11mph. It is a very dangerous situation. Its the v6, premiere model and is very disappointing since it has less than 50,000 miles. It was looked at briefly by another mechanic who said my transmission was failing. I am having it rebuilt when they have an opening in 2 weeks.

4 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

I have only had my car for 3 years and there is only 70,000 miles on the vehicle. I get regular maintenance done as needed from the dealership. When I took my car to a different mechanic to do a transmission flush, I was told that my transmission had a bad leak and that it was leaking all inside the axle etc. The total cost to fix is 3,000 to 4,000 because I need a new transmission. I could tell something was not right when my car would not switch gears smoothly and it started making a winding sound. The car would barely pick up on the highway.

7 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

At times it seems like the transmission doesn't shift properly when starting to accelerate. It's as if it's not sure what gear to go into. Currently I have an engine light on and it stalls frequently. If I slow down or start to accelerate it will stall. I'm afraid I'm going to get rear ended by someone! it also blows out white smoke from the exhaust. I seem to be adding oil more often than I should.

8 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to be in motion without the key in the ignition. Also, when the gear was shifted into park, it was not fully in gear so the contact constantly had to check. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 16v502000 (electrical system, power train). In addition, water entered various areas of the vehicle and the electronic stability traction control warning indicator randomly illuminated. The vehicle also rolled backward and forward without warning and the hatch came down unexpectedly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the multiple failures. The failure mileage was not available.

9 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

On the way to work in my 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, on a Friday morning, pulling out to the highway my car did not want to shift and the check engine light came on. Then it would not go into drive or reverse. After it was turned off and sat for a wile it went into gear. I then went by a local auto store and they read the code as p0717 and p0700 that had to do with the transmission. I would have to contact the dealer for further info. Got back to work and called the dealer and was told they could not see me until late Monday or Tuesday. So all weekend I drove it, light was no longer on, thought everything was okay. Forward Monday afterwork, at stop sign and started to pull out and the car would not go into gear. No reverse either, coasted down the hill to side street and turned off the engine and after setting a few minutes it went into gear, but only lasted a short while and was stranded again. Had to call for a tow and used tranco transmission. They called and said the wave plate had broke which had caused more damage and would cost $3400. The repairman said this has happened in a lot of these motors, so I called gm and they said that at this time there is no recall for this. But if they do I can submit my receipt. I'm hoping that if enough people complain that they will take care of this problem. It could have been a bad situation, because I had my grandson in the car and we could have gotten hit trying to pull out at the stop sign and not been able to get out of the way because the car wouldn't change gears. Just google wave plate in a 2010 Equinox and see how many complaints you see. When I pay my bill, I will upload the reciept.

12 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

The car was jerking into gear, especially while putting it into reverse. The car would not go into gear the next morning and had to be towed to the shop. I had to get the transmission replaced at 43,000 miles. I have replaced the headlights twice and hit the hood this last time and it came on. The mechanic said it's not sealed properly. I had to replace the rear brake lights after a thunderstorm. The mechanic said the car is not properly sealed and moisture is trapped inside the lights. The cost to replace an $11 bulb was $24 in labor because its impossible to get to the headlight. The brake lights cost $$54 in labor because you literally have to disassemble the entire bumper.

14 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 07/12/2010

Have a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox that has been slipping gears (not properly shifting) when accelerating and decelerating. This has been happening for a week. Just yesterday, while sitting at a light, with my foot on the brake for several seconds, the vehicle must have decided to go back down in gear, and it made the vehicle jump. Then yesterday afternoon, while trying to accelerate onto a busy highway, it would not get out of gear and stayed at 15 mph. I had to let off the gas for a few seconds then resumed accelerating. The issue has been happening for about a week, but yesterday was the scariest, when I couldn't merge into the traffic at the speed that I needed to. My husband has called the lot where it was purchased and made an appointment to take it in for this Thursday. I began reviewing posts on other websites and was amazed at how many complaints there were on this very issue. This is very scary, especially with that many complaints.
