Vehicle Speed Control Problems of Chevrolet Equinox - part 2

Service stabilitrak & power steering light comes on after initial start up or in the middle of driving intermittently cause car to jolt back & forth while driving which can cause an accident if someone or car is near, could hear that car was attempting to lock & unlock doors while errors appear on dash. When changing gears a jolt and loud knock sounds occurs, now check engine light appears, this has caused a new issue now code states to replace transmission valve body assembly…unable to locate part anywhere & I’m not clear what may be causing issue since it happens intermittently. Changed battery, msgs stopped appearing on dash for a week. Boom hopes were high now msgs are there again…. Total nightmare. I just bought this car!!!.

While traveling a message appear "power reduced" a noise was heard like whistle (air whooshing). The time car was started the engine light was on. The car was serviced by gm/Chevrolet dealership service. They found water in the spare tire compartment, but didn't not agree that it was the cause of malfunction. The asked if the car had been in a flood. I did my own research and found that this water leak problem is a known issue in litigation.

While attempting accelerate on the highway at 70 mph the car entered "engine power reduced" mode resulting in the car to slow down. This reduced speed resulted in a few near misses on the highway. The check engine light than began to flash for about 15 seconds before all the messages went away and normal driving conditions occurred. Taking it into the dealership they pulled from the computer the issue of "multiple cylinder misfire" but could not replicate the issue. I also filed a ticket with gm letting them know of a potentially deadly issue but they sided with the dealer stating the car was operating within normal parameters since they could not duplicate the issue. The weather prior to the issue was rainy.

It doesn't make sense how much oil this thing burns. We just had the oil changed last month and prior to that we've replaced the solenoids. Why in heavens did this vehicle stall out yesterday when my husband was driving on the highway saying engine power reduced. This vehicle is costing a fortune. There is truly something wrong with these engines! this could have cause a major crash. Thank goodness no one got hurt.

Driving 60 miles per hour, on 95 in walpole massachusetts the power steering failed of our 5 month old chevy Equinox. I was unable to turn with the curved road. I pressed brakes as hard as I could, hit guard rail. Dash board illuminated "service power steering drive with care". Car towed to boch, I was hospitalized. Insurance and gm inspected SUV, gm esis concluded 3 months later no issues with 2022 chevy Equinox even though it still did not have power steering. Equinox towed to quirk where we bought the SUV, 1 hour later codes revealed internal malfunction of system no steering available at this time. We asked for this car to be repurchased under the lemon law. 3 months later the car was repaired. We had to go to arbitration under the lemon law for gm take the lemon back;. Gm and quirk was uncooperative at every negotiation I will never by a gm or a quirk car again.

The abs and traction control light came on and the vehicle sometimes doesn’t want to stop. The abs kicks in and it takes a while for it to stop. It’s been twice where the vehicle ends up stopping in the middle of the intersection. Luckily no one was in front of us or coming the other direction.

Vehicle had 3 warning go off while driving. Vehicle engine is shaking. It decelerate and I couldn’t go over 35. No power going up hill. Traction controls shut off, check engine, and sec service came on. Now messages of braking system and emission from on star. Had a similar incident over thanksgiving and I was told I needed an oil change because there was low oil. My car was at 58% for oil change. Now I’m at 83% and it shouldn’t need oil. There have been multiple issues with lag time from pushing the gas to engaging. This vehicle has had more issue than any other chevy I have owned. Transmission seals off the lot. This is not building confidence in safety at all.

My vehicle went into "limp mode" in a dangerous intersection due to the garbage design of the pcv. The "valve" is simply a hole that gets clogged by cold climates, and it allows the oil pressure to build up in the crankcase and then without warning, OH boy, my engine had a catastrophic failure and needs to be replaced. Blown rear main seal. There are multiple lawsuits against gm for this. They can't continue to get away with knowing about this flaw and not fix it. I only put 37,000 miles on this car (108k total). Changed the oil myself religiously. I came in, and they told me there was no oil on the dipstick despite the fact that I had just changed the oil 2 days prior.

Adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking intermittently fail to function.

While driving at the speed of 45mph… the vehicle suddenly started increasing acceleration to 62 mph……attempts to apply brakes failed…. Was unable to stop acceleration brake pedal was pressed all the way to the floor an car was slammed into park….

Today on may 22 2022 I was driving on cruise control at 60 mph when the brakes locked up and slid the wheels. The brakes didnt release untill I pressed on the gas pedal. This is the exact same thing that happened last summer and reported on your file number 11427660. This is a serious safety problem that could get someone killed. The dealer replaced a brake control module but same problem reappeared.

While driving at approximately 45-50 miles per hour, the engine completely failed. An engine failure/failed/reduced power alert message appeared on the dash at the time of the event and the car lost all power, losing speed and coming to a stop. The road was curbed on both sides with no available shoulder or median to access leaving the vehicle stranded in the right, eastbound lane with continuous traffic approaching from behind. My safety and the safety of others were at risk as I was on a 45mph, 4 lane road, with vehicles approaching quickly from behind and having to change lanes to go around my vehicle and avoid an accident. This could have been catastrophic if I'd been on an interstate or in many other situations. I discovered an email from onstar diagnostics that was time stamped at the very time I experienced the incident, 8:02am. The email states "an issue with the engine and transmission system in your 2022 Chevrolet Equinox has been detected. Please service your vehicle immediately. " also, it was only about 25 degrees and I was afraid to stay in the car due to the continuous traffic. I purchased this vehicle 3 days ago on wed, Feb 23 and it has approximately 200 miles on it. There were no symptoms prior to the incident today. The vehicle is currently at bill estes Chevrolet in indianapolis, indiana and will be looked at this Monday, Feb 28th.

Engine check light on took in for diagnostic and was told nothing was wrong just over heated. Taken in multiple times. Finally on February 10, 2022 a visual inspection of leak was done to find rear main seal blew out and leaking oil! at which point it was recommended replacing engine. Through a search on 2011 Chevrolet Equinox it was found to be a common problem for this model. Also mentioned was transmission issues with jerky or slippage in gears ?? in automatic/manual transmissions combination types! plus having trouble with speed control revving up, going up and down hills as concerning with gas pedal sticking!.

I have a 2015 chevy Equinox lt, I had my car repair engine light came on all lights on dash lite service warning for abs, traction control, stabilitrak and steering wheel, and when I would stop the car would stall. I took to chevy dealership and had serviced. The intake valve was replaced covered under warranty, and the ecm (engine control module) replaced. Car seemed fine after 1 1/2 years service stabilitrak came on and off , I had issues with low fuel mileage, only check engine light came on once and then right off again after I had the spark plugs replaced the outtake valve replaced no check engine light , regular oil changes. One day the service stabilitrak light came on and did not come off. This has been going on for 6 months I was driving and my car started jumping when I came to a stop, no lights came on. I continued to drive and when I parked my car sounded like a mac truck and was shaking and had the smell of burning oil or gas. I parked a 2 hours later I started it the same sound and smell along with the check engine light I looked under my car and there was oil dripping, I stopped and add oil and was able to drive home slowly. I parked over night I started it and drove around the block I turned off and then waited a minute turned back on opened the hood and the engine was shaking loud and reduced engine power message came up. I am at a loss I do not have money to fix this it is a 2015 no warranties are even covered over this issue if they are able to figure out what this is. I looked all over the internet and so many people have this problem I don't understand why it is not recalled or there is no class action against gm for this.

Transmission is slipping out of first gear to second, reverse sticks, hard shifts from first gear to second gear to third gear.

The oil consumption in the engine for general use is by far way more than average,you don't even get to the" time to change your oil" notice from the vehicle before most of your oil is gone from your motor. The oil light never comes on to inform you of the low oil in the motor but with the low oil engine sensors for cam position light the check engine light and after awhile the vehicle goes into what I would call limp mode with acceleration decreased which would be dangerous at highway speeds if it happened then.

I was traveling on cruise control at 60 mph when I clicked down to 55 mph at speed change. A couple minutes later the brakes slammed on hard enough to have the front wheels chirping I dont know if rear brakes came on but I went from 55 down to under 30 in a hard panic braking. This threw my wife up aganist her seat belt since she has had a stroke her resistanse to the hard slow down was low. I stepped on the gas and the brakes released I cant remember if I re engaged the cruise control or if it never disingaged. The other thing that happened was the warning about not using the info display while driving came up this only happens now and than when you start the car. So I suspect I had a momentary power lose in that circuit and what ever else is tied in to the info center im retired but I worked in mechanical engr all my life so I have some knowledge of systems.

My car was purchased used at a Chevrolet dealership. I noticed right away that the carjerks when I accelerate, it also stalls when trying to accelerate when making a turn which cam cause an accident. The vehicle revs and slowly moves and then takes off. Its a dragging motion when driving its very slow. The steering wheel locks when turning as if I need power steering fluid. This car is a hazard, waiting to happen. When starting it, it makes this loud humming noise. I just had it inspected and the mechanic said the car was fine, but driving it is a different story.

I was out driving on a normal errand when my car suddenly seemed to lose all ability to accelerate. When I pressed on the accelerator nothing happened and I could only advance in the car at less than 5 mph. Fortunately I was just leaving my neighborhood and on a residential street where the speed limit was only 35 mph anyways, but I shudder to think about what could have happened if I lost the ability to accelerate when I was on a highway or interstate, or even making a turn in front of oncoming traffic on a normal road. As any driver knows, you estimate your ability to safely turn in front of oncoming traffic based on your car's accelerator working. If I had made that judgment, attempted to turn, and not been able to accelerate and instead been left in the middle of oncoming traffic, I could have been hit and seriously injured or worse. There were no warning lights or anything that appeared prior to the incident. After losing the ability to accelerate, I received an email from Chevrolet within 10 minutes stating "an issue with the emissions system in your 2019 Chevrolet Equinox has been detected. Please service your vehicle within 7 days. Please disregard this message if your vehicle is already in for service. Inaccurate notifications can be generated during service. " my car ended up being towed to the dealer for service where they confirmed and reproduced the problem. They said something about the emissions system valve(s) had to be replaced, and that this was a relatively common problem they had seen in other Chevrolet Equinoxes too, but were not aware of any recall being issued yet.

Bought the Equinox used. Sure wish I would have researched better. It ran dry of oil. Dash read 55% oil life at the time. Car just cut off on me and after discovering a dry dipstick and replenishing oil, it sounded like a broken sewing machine, very loud rattling! car shakes so bad while stopped at traffic light, we are scared it is just going to die in traffic. Car will not idle to warm up. It cuts off. And once I get going, I almost have to pump gas pedal steadily to keep it running. Horrible!!! and money down the drain.

My repair stabiltrak light came on in the dash . The check engine light is illuminated, my traction control light , is on . My anti-lock brake light is on . All of sudden when I pull out into traffic my car loses power on acceleration and my anti-lock brakes engaged . I have to pull over so I'm not rear ended . This has happened to me driving on a city street and on highway . There is a serious problem with the stabiltrak/ traction control system. I only have 89,000 miles on my vehicle . I see this is a known problem on chevy Equinox . I'm worried about being killed in an accident since my vehicle loses power without warning . These vehicles need to be recalled !.

Driving 75 miles per hour on interstate while passing two vehicles and one car behind me the car made a dinging noise, the adaptive cruise not available light illuminated and the car decelerated causing the car behind me to have to brake. If I had not stepped on the accelerator the car behind may have hit me. This has happened on four different dates and on one trip it happened 8 times in 80 miles. This is a safety hazard that could cause rear end collision at high speed. The repair shop at my chevy dealer in town says there are no error codes and the adaptive cruise is working as designed. Is I get hit from behind at high speed this could easily cause a devastating crash. I do not trust this car or the responses I am getting from the dealer. They say no one has complained about this but I kind find sites where people are reporting the same problem.

Vehicle had been stalling at least every other day for the past couple of months when stepping on the gas to go. It has turned off on several occasions when coming to a stop or red light at the point I step on the gas. Additionally, the vehicles engine sounds forced and trembles on it own on a daily basis, even when in park mode.

The stabili track is messed up. When u give it gas it just boggs the stabili track lighy check engine light and traction control light came on. This all happen driving down the highway at high speed which made the car just about uncontrollable. Needs to be addressed. It has been on other models.

While the vehicle is being driven a message will appear service tire monitor system and all gauges on the dash do not work, the radio, heating a/c also stops. The message quickly changes to service airbag. (photos of both messages attached) issue started Nov of 2020 vehicle has been seen by gordon Chevrolet mi 4 times for service and they are unable to find the issue. We did inform them that if we moved the driver seat just a bit that seem to reset it. Doesn't seem to be as responsive to that now. At one point the bcm was mentioned but still as of today not resolved or fixed. My concern is when the vehicle says service airbag and you are driving it down the road I don't know that this airbag will work if something were to happen. The dealership is well aware of the ongoing unresolved issue and I have another appointment for November 1,2021 so they can look at it again.

Once I have warmed the car and put it in motion whether in reverse or forward as I slow down to come to a stop light or yield the car either starts to die or dies completely. I can try to push the drivers pedal and sometimes it will crank back up and continue in motion and sometimes, in the middle of traffic I might have to put on the brake, put it in park and start it all over again. This is very scary, very dangerous!!! doesn't matter the type of road I am on. I was told this is a normal thing for this vehicle, but this is hard for me to believe that a car is made to go dead at a moments notice in traffic.

Driver reports car stalls when applying gas pedal, car has smell of gas. This stalling happens at low and highway speeds.

The engine is jerking, jumping, car has no power. . . Complete piece of crap.

Stability control has come on the engine and it have reduce speed.

The brake system locks and overheat. Even when new parts are put on . After 10 min of driving old problems due exist. From brake caliper to brake line to brake booster changed.

Rough idle when vehicle comes to a stop and rpms will fluctuate. Rattle noise from the exhaust when turning on or on reverse. Brakes responding late.

While in motion the car randomly and quickly decelerates and will not allow you to accelerate. Phillips Chevrolet has attempted to repair the car citing engine power reduction,transmission, stabilatrak and non verifiable issues over a 2 month period. Within that 2 month period, may 18, 2020 to July 24, 2020, there were 7 attempts to repair the car. All 7 attempts were unsuccessful. Between June 22, 2020 and July 30, 2020 there were more than 20 telephone calls placed between general motors and I, regarding this vehicle and it's engine, transmission and non-verifiable issues. General motors and phillips Chevrolet are refusing to acknowledge that the car is a lemon. There are currently a little over 8,500 miles on the car and I am in fear of my life each time I enter the car and I have made phillips Chevrolet and general motors aware of this issue. This is my second NHTSA report. The initial NHTSA report is 302587, was filed on June 22, 2020. Phillips Chevrolet and general motors are refusing to provide me with a safe vehicle to travel in despite 7 service visits with phillips Chevrolet, and more than 20 telephone interactions with general motors. There a more reports but your system will only allow me five documents,.

It keeps cutting off and the oil keeps going empty some say recall 11195a mite be the promblem but I dont know jus got the car and when I start it up the peddle gets stuck and starts rite back up in motion and soon as you back up and soon as you trun out it cuts off on the high way and on city street and turing.
