Two problems related to transmission failure have been reported for the 2008 Chevrolet Express. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Express. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the transmission failed and the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact shut off the vehicle and once restarted, the transmission functioned normally however, the failure recurred a few days later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they informed the contact that the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was okay to drive and advised him not to cut the engine off. In addition, the manufacturer advised that the next time the failure occurred that he should immediately take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis. The failure mileage was 29,000. Updated 07/05/lj.
While merging on the Expressway the transmission failed to shift out of first or second gear causing high engine rpm's . I had to shift into neutral and back into drive several times but it still failed to shift into any gear. I had to put on flashers ( heavy traffic ) and make my way to the emergency lane. When I came to a complete stop and shifted back into drive it shifted correctly. I have had this problem for several months to present date. I took the van to the dealership who said they could not replicate the problem and their were no code reports so they could not fix the issue. This is still a very real danger for my family ( seven children ) because this malfunction occurs while at high speeds usually while entering the Expressway.
