Car has developed a fuel leak once again in the rear of the vehicle. This is the second time a fuel leak has been noted. The first time the mechanic replaced a portion of the line that had corroded and was leaking fuel near the driver rear tire. Now the leak is in another section of the original pipe near the fuel tank. This is poor quality and engineering.

Last week, I noticed fuel leaking out from the bottom of my vehicle on the rear passenger side in my driveway after returning home. I had my vehicle towed into a local shop to get looked at. The shop informed me that my entire fuel line assembly needed to be replaced. They stated that the metal assembly has rusted and corroded over time. At the time of this writing, my vehicle is still in the shop awaiting to get fixed. It is available to be inspected upon request. There are no warning signs on my computer system prior to this. This leaking fuel could have put myself and my family at risk for harm due to the fire risk.
The fuel line is leaking due to it being metal and rusted.
Car is leaking gas on left rear side. Corrosion and rust due to fuel line.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Hhr. The contact stated that he noticed there was a fuel leak near the driver's side rear door. The contact stated that the tpms, esc, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact researched the matter on line and determined the failure was related to NHTSA action number: pe20011 (fuel system, other, fuel/propulsion system, fuel system, gasoline). The contact called the local dealer, who informed him there were no recalls. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 136,440.
Last week we noticed gasoline showing up on the ground in front of the rear driver side tire. I looked underneath and found a pipe that seems to be corroded. I looked online and found that many people have the same problem, so I haven't had it checked at a dealership. The pipe continues to leak after you walk away and I'm afraid someone will discard a cigarette near the vehicle, or worse. We are generally home, and can be reached for inspection.
Fuel lines corroded just like millions of other Hhr's. Gas is leaking. What does it take to have a recall on this? does someone really have to be killed?.
The fuel line on the left back side of the car (back drivers side) was leaking fuel when it was in parking or sitting and idling. Noted fuel smell when car started up and was idling, car was taken to independent mechanic, fuel line was broke in 2 places. It was broke close by the wheel are and the other spot was back by the exhaust.
Fuel leak coming from the left (drivers side) of the vehicle in the area of the rear wheel. There was a strong odor of fuel, fuel was observed dripping to the ground under the vehicle in front of the left rear wheel. This condition was observed only when the vehicle was running and in park. The condition does not seem to happen when the vehicle is off and not running. No repair has been made yet , vehicle can be inspected in its current condition. This is a severe safety concern of ignition/explosion due to a fuel leak; risk of property damage or even death. This problem has not been addressed yet to a dealer or local mechanic as of yet . Failed component has not yet been inspected by gm, police or insurance. No warning lamps or messages were illuminated on dashboard, prior to failure, vehicle did have some difficulty starting, possibly due to this problem, but it did start.
Fuel line leak. My fuel line has cracked in multiple places and needs to be replaced entirely. The leak was consistent, with a constant stream leaking out when in operation and for several minutes after stopping the engine. The odor of gasoline was strong from inside of the vehicle when in operation and large puddles of gas were visible on the ground afterwards when I first noticed the issue. My repair quote is about $500 to get the line replaced entirely.
Gas lines rusted out after purchase.

Gas line rusted and leaking. Gas everywhere, strong odor, highly flammable. Under inspection at the chevy dealer in highland twp. No warning lights were on.
Loss of power while driving 35mph and service traction light along with airbags light keeps showing at random times.
Body clips holding fuel line causing rusting at these points. Leaking fuel from body clip in front of driver’s side rear tire. Based on caked on debris (mud like consistency), it has been happening for a while but wasn’t leaking to driveway due to disuse of the vehicle. This has commonly happened on 2008-2010 Hhrs and cobalts too.
Gas line leaking under left rear tire.
Gas leaking from fuel line near rear driver’s side tire.
Fuel line leak.
While operating vehicles , the smell of fresh gasoline was coming into cabin. Made left hand turn to pull over and check gas cap, as I turned the rear of my car spun around like I was on ice. Almost hit pedestrians, my rear tires soaked with gasoline…scary. Gas pouring out from real lines next to muffler.
Fuel line is leaking on back left rear. Other models have recall but I have a 2011 with the same exact problem.
Fuel leak coming from rear wheel area on drivers side of the vehicle.
Leaking fuel line near left rear wheel.
I was backing my car out of the garage and I noticed a line of liquid on the ground, indicating a leak. I immediately stopped the car, got out and took a look. I traced the leak back to the drivers side at the rear, just before the tire. I could see fuel dripping down from under the car. The exhaust pipe right near the dripping was also wet. I could smell gas and I confirmed that was what was dripping by smelling a drop after I let it fall on my finger. Definitely gasoline. After the dripping stopped, I pushed the car back into the garage. I used a quickjack to raise the car to get a better look at the area where the leak was coming from. There was massive corrosion/rust of the metal lines in the area. The leak was easily found by just looking for where the lines were wet. Even though fuel was no longer dripping (the engine was off so there was no fuel pressure anymore), there was still wetness from the gas leaking through the rusted area. I will not drive the car again until the leak has been repaired. Considering the fact that the exhaust pipe had also gotten wet from the leak, the chance of a fire was very likely. I consider myself very lucky to have found the leak when I did, rather than have a fire occur while driving. Even if I were to pull over and shut the engine off immediately, a significant amount of fuel would leak out and feed the fire as the fuel escapes under pressure. This certainly could cause the rest of the car to catch fire. This is clearly unsafe and dangerous. If the leak occurred after the car was put in the garage with the exhaust still hot, a fire could not only consume the vehicle but the garage and the house as well. That could cause injury or even death in a worst case scenario. This is clearly an unsafe design and a clear risk to both people and property. This absolutely should be the basis for a recall where the corroded lines are replaced free with new lines made of a more durable material such as stainless steel.
Fuel line/s started leaking just infront of the left rear wheel about 06/27/2023. Ignition switch started sticking about 06/22/2023.
I left vehicle running on my concrete driveway while I ran in the house to get my father for an errand. When I came outside and went to get into the vehicle I noticed a fire in the front of the rear wheel on the driver's side kind of dripping flames from the vehicle on to the concrete. Luckily I reacted quickly enough to release the parking brake. [car is a manual transmisson]. The car drifted forward [driveway has small downhill pitch]and I turned the motor off. Then I [luckily] ran over to a hose and brought it to the vehicle to extinguish the fire.
Noticed gasoline dripping under the vehicle just behind the driver side rear door. Upon investigation discovered steel fuel line has corroded between a plastic support bracket and fiber heat shield. This seems to be due to a design that allows moisture and road debris (salt) to accumulate, leading to corrosion. This could lead to total loss of power to the vehicle, and poses a risk of fire while in operation or while parked.
Fuel line driver side rear tire leaking gas.
Fuel line is leaking in front of the rear driver's side tire. The lines are heavily corroded. It has not been officially inspected.
I have a fuel line leak near the left rear tire which has been happening with other vehicles such as the cobalt and other Hhr's. I took it to a dealer and they said it is going to cost me $1500 to replace all the fuel lines because they were rusted really bad. This shouldn't be happening plus it's not very safe. This should be a recall item. My vehicle only has ~156000 miles on it. Thanks.
Leaking fuel near the left rear tire I have read online that other individuals are having the same issue. Please advise thanks.
Fuel line leaking, driver side, forward of rear wheel. A very dangerous and common problem, one more of the many similar complaints on Hhr-cobalt build platform spanning multiple years. This vehicle has only 60,000 miles.
