I was driving on the interstate and the dash lit up service traction system and engine power reduced. I was currently using cruise control so it shocked me when my car went from 75 to 40 quick. I was in five oclock traffic and almost rear ended. Check engine light came on as well. I'm planning on getting it looked at.
On interstate driving approx. 60 mph suddenly check engine light came on, and reduce engine speed light on and car dropped drastically down to literally no power. Barely had time to get on shoulder without causing accident. Went to local mechanic and he said that the issue was the throttle peddle.

And in motion the vehicle starts alarming and lettimg me know in the information widow check tire monitoring system with tire pressure light consistently on then vehicle alarming sounds again to check stability trak and then it alarm s again with the check engine light that the vehicles engine power has been reduced and vehicle is no longer able to pick up speed right away this has been going on sense I purchased it. Also when im making turns the vehicle will alarm about having stability trak serviced.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated before the vehicle jerked severely. In addition, the brakes were unresponsive. The contact pulled over to restart the vehicle but the failure recurred. The contact mentioned reconnecting a vacuum hose after observing that it was disconnected from the power booster. The brakes became responsive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that throttle position sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer once more and was diagnosed that the catalytic converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000. Jo.
Driving 40mph check engine light came on then reduced engine power flashed on message board several seconds later traction control light came on and service traction control came on message board. My speed was reduced to 20mph in traffic! luckily I was able to pull over safely without causing any accidrnt (fyi I had my daughter in thr car with me). I will be taking the car to a chevy shop in the morning where im sure I will have to pay high cost out of pocket even though this has been an issue for chevy owners (online srarch) and there has been many complaints with no recall. This is a serious ussue and I feel it is putting many lives in danger and should have been a recall a long time ago. Im just lucky I wasnt on the highway yet because this could have turned fatal.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 65, 000. Djr.
Our 2008 Impala LS, with 100,000 miles, is having the same problem I am seeing at this web site and all across the internet. Last month, may, 2014, and this month, June, 2014, there was a sudden reduced power alert on the dashboard and the check engine light came on. The speed immediately dropped to no more than 35 mph. Before I could get it to advance to have them check to see if any codes had been dropped by the computer, the check engine light went off. There was no reduced power message either, and the speed returned to normal. I was told to try fuel injector cleaner, which I did. All went well for almost a month, when the same thing happened again this month. This time I was able to get it to advance with the check engine light still on. The computer had dropped 2 codes, both related to the accelerator pedal position sensor. Advance did not have the part, nor did autozone. Fortunately, napa did, for $90, including tax. Our local chevy dealership wanted $50 more. Since it is a very easy part to replace even for an amateur like me, I replaced it. There are only 2 10 mm bolts to remove and an electrical connection to unplug. So it was pretty simple, and so far, this has done the trick, but it's only been 24 hours. This apparently is a job that the dealerships want to charge $300 to $400 to do. As I said, this is a widespread problem for gm, and they have not and will not, so far, do a recall. They should. I'm only out $90 so far, but other people are out much more. If I have the dreaded, follow-up problem with the the throttle body, I will be out a whole lot more. I sent an e-mail to Chevrolet after the first instance, and did get a response back. I told him I didn't want to take any further action unless this happens again. I will be contacting him again now about this latest incident.
Letter from constituent who experienced problems with her 2008 Impala, seeking reimbursement for the repairs she believes were all part of a recall. The consumer stated on April 1, 2014, she had just exited the interstate highway, when suddenly the engine shut off. The vehicle would not re-start and a message appeared on the dash that read throttle control system. The vehicle was towed to a service station. The throttle body was replaced. On April 19, 2014. The check engine light illuminated as she was driving. She pulled into a parking lot, and turned off the engine. The vehicle did not re-start, once again, the vehicle had to be towed. The power train control module had to be replaced and the computer was re-programmed.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving 50mph, her vehicle engine shut completely off with out warning. The vehicle was taken into (price Chevrolet) in pleasanton texas. The dealer stated they would need to perform a diagnostic test in order to find diagnose the problem. The vehicle had not been repaired at this time and the problem had not been diagnosed. The failure mileage was 73,000. Lnc.
Frequently, service traction control and engine power is reduced lights come on. When this happens, car is sluggish and will not accelerate. This is very dangerous because it happens unexpectedly and causes vehicle to decelerate quickly. Typically the car will start normally after sitting for 15-30 minutes but check engine light remains on for some time. Also, the message engine hot/ac off fires randomly. Temperature gauge rests at zero. It will start working again either through manual reset by removing battery cables and reconnecting or randomly start working again on its own. There are numerous reports of both issues on the internet which indicate replacement of sensors/throttle are very expensive and do not fix the issues.
I was just driving and the check engine light popped on. In the message box it said engine power reduced, and the traction control light also came on. I have no idea what's going on. I couldn't pick up speed, when I tried to it would jerk. I've never had any problems out of my car until now.
I was driving about 50 miles an hour and "service traction control" and "reduced engine power" lights came on. I slowed down to 40 and was trying to merge into traffic and the car downshifted really hard and died. Right as it died another light came on, something about the throttle. I was on a 4 lane bridge during rush hour. Had the car towed to the local chevy dealer. When they got it, it started right up, but the check engine light was on. They had the car for 3 days and could find nothing wrong with it. Since then it has happened 5 more times.
I was driving when vehicle lost power and car shut off. I put the car in neutral and restarted the motor and this has happened on a few occasions. More recently, at times car will not turn over or crank and the check engine light comes on. Then suddenly the car cranks and after some time has passed the check engine light shuts off. I took the car to the dealership and they told me it was the battery. I replaced the battery at the dealership but it still does the same thing. I took the car back to the dealership but the dealership said they could not find the problem. So I took the car to another mechanic and he told me it was the ignition 1 switch circuit 2 (code p1682).
On 4/28/13, while turning into church parking lot, traction control and check engine lights came on. Computer check the next day showed code 2127. The computer was cleared and this problem code did not reappear. On 5/28/13, while driving on a flat country road at about 50 mph, traction control and check engine lights again came on. I had to drive approx. 20 miles to get back to my mechanic. Part of the computer response during the this time was to reduce engine power. This was noticeable on any minor hill. Again, my mechanic checked the computer diagnostic and said code 2127. I took my car to my dealer 5/29/13 and they replaced the accelerator pedal assembly.
I was starting the car up and the engine was going in and out. I noticed that the check engine light was on and it stayed on. The stabili-trac light also came on. The panel also said that the engine was losing power. This happened 2 times within the last 8 days. I stopped the vehicle and turned it off. Cranked it back up and the check engine light was still on. Took it to the car dealer and they said that it was the throttle position sensor.
Check engine light comes on due to constant sensor failures. The first was a faulty oil sensor. The car shut down and was unable to start or run do to a service stabilitrak code. Because of theboth issues we were unable to properly secure the car and its contents. The breakdown also cause us to be stranded in extremely cold weather.
I was going down the road and out of no where my car says service traction control, followed by service stabilitrak, followed by engine power reduced with a check engine light on. Lost almost all power to the car, could barely turn the wheel and the brakes felt extremely strange. I could only go about 5mph tops down the road. Luckily I was only 2 min from home. Which actually took 6 min because of the reduced engine speed. Right before I pulled in the driveway the motor died. The next day I went out and tried starting it. The remote start wasn't working and my check engine light was still on but it did start up with a turn of the key. I looked up codes and found that it was telling me the accelerator pedal sensor was bad. I have googled this issue and found that it is a very dangerous, common problem with the chevy Impala. Although that is the code it is giving me, other people have had to replace their throttle body to resolve the problem. Gm should recall it before someone gets hurt. I will not be buying another gm vehicle in the future because they are too cheap to fix this common issue which could essentially cost someone their life.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and the speed reduced to 35 mph. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,834.
While driving at highway speeds, the check engine light came on, then the service tracton control devices came on and immediately afterwards, there was a reduction in engine power and the car slowed considerably. The vehicle was taken to a dealership and was diagnosed with a failed throttle body. The throttle body was replaced and there has been no problems since. The failrue was at 51757 miles and was not covered under warranty resulting in a $400 bill that the manufacturer would not cover.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated as the vehicle decelerated independently. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the secondary air injection pump failed. The mechanic stated that the location of the pump was near the ground and would be exposed to moisture on a rainy day. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000. Djr.
2008 Impala has bad gas pedal while you are driving the traction light and engine light comes on you lose a lot of the engine power until the traction light goes off this is very dangerous. I called GMC and took it to a dealer they put it on the machine first I was told it was sensor in the pedal. Next I was told it was the wiring harness. By the same dealer now I don't know what to do I think something dangerous should be fixed by the dealer but they say it is not covered.
