general problems of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala - part 2

While driving at night speed 55 mph all the instrument gauges went to zero nothing was registering at all this happened several times while driving. It happened several times after that for the next 2 months. Then it would not start. Had to tow to dealer.

Had to put a new battery in and then the message light came on to service the air bag. . . . They said a module went out under the drivers seat and under the left front bumper. . . . . . . It will cost $ 1030 + tax. . . Only 43,000 miles on the car. I cant afford to have it fixed and I'm told that the airbag wont work if I get in an accident till I get it fixed. . . . . . . . . Would that keep my insurance from paying if I do get in an accident and they see the air bag should have been serviced??.

While driving on an sharp incline I needed to apply my breaks to successfully decrease speed (65 to 45). After completing this action a service message appeared on my dash board, "service air bag". This message has been displayed several times since then, generally after applying my breaks suddenly or any time I decrease from a speed over 60. I contacted my dealership asking if there was a issue. I was told to have my computer reset but that seems to temporarily fix my issues.

I have a 2010 chevy Impala that has a service air bags message on the dic message console. From what I have read online this is a definite safety hazard because the air bags may not work in an accident. The car is now out of warranty so I think this should have a recall since it is a major safety issue.

Service air bag displayed in information display along with red illuminated symbol of air bag would come and go on and off every time its driven . Took vehicle to dealer 9/10/2012 with light and warning on when parked in service lane and they informed me no problem found,no codes stored.
