I started my vehicle in the morning to let it warm up. I come back out to get myself and my son in the vehicle to go to work and take him to school. My dash upon entry had a check engine light on, and the message it displayed was "engine power reduced. " I put my car into reverse, having no choice but to drive it and the traction control went out. My father in law pulled the code and it said something about the accelerator sensor. This is a known issue and recall in other models and I wanted to report it is also happening in my model.
My engine is shaking back-and-forth and it’s a new engine not new jd byrider replaced last month and I got the same problem again today.
The car can have moments of power loss where the speedometer suddenly, erratically spikes while the tachometer slightly lags. It almost stalled my vehicle while transmission was in drive while stopped. It feels like dragging when the power loss occurs. This has occurred randomly for the past month, mostly during interstate driving with cruise control operating. It has happened the last six times I have driven, but the previous several times it did not occur. It also occurred in a similar random fashion for the prior two weeks. When it does occur it feels like power drain and deceleration that can last a second and this will occur several times during a twenty minute drive at 70mph. Mechanics at two shops seem confused and don't know where to begin except for a transmission fluid flush. That was completed and the problem has persisted. There are no related error codes. To lose power suddenly and unexpectedly could cause an accident especially if a system failure shuts off the vehicle while driving. This vehicle has had an oil consumption/burning problem since I bought it with around 60,000miles. It needed 2 quarts of oil added between the last oil changes. I have spent $1400 in July of this year on gasket replacements and that did not stop the leak. More gasket heads and an oil pan are going to be need to replaced and the estimate is another $1400. This is too much to be spending on possibly related issues in a short time span that may not resolve the problem.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front-end of the vehicle would lower and the front end was unstable. In addition, the check engine warning light would remain illuminated. The vehicle was also consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The engine fan had failed and the transmission was faulty. No further information was available. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
Sometimes when driving an "engine reduced" warning will pop up and when it does so, the car limits the amount of power applied when accelerating. I have to turn it off and sit a few minutes before it goes back to normal.
Started driving car wouldn't go over 5 mph. Engine shakes violently. Display reads reduced engine power. Traction control warning.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. When the vehicle was shut off, the motor continued to run. Classic Chevrolet (440-255-5511, located at 6877 center st, mentor, OH 44060) diagnosed that one of four actuators needed to be replaced. The dealer did not specify when the other three actuators would potentially fail. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer stated that the warranty expired and provided a case number. The manufacturer refused to honor the extended warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.
The takkata inflator symbol is showing I have took it to several mechanic and they say they can fix the problems. My car jump and stop at time. When I try to start my car it takes like 5 or 6 time before it start. It mostly jump , shakes and that the engine before it starts. The head lights where changes and they still keep going out.
2010 chevy Impala only has 58,000 miles on it. I've already had been having issues with the car not starting all of the time and now after putting new tires on it, I am driving down the road and get "service stabilitrack," "service traction control," and "engine power reduced. " I was on a major highway going about 60 mph and was almost rear-ended due to the sudden loss of speed. I was able to move into a turning lane and get to a parking lot without getting myself killed. I still, however, have to figure out how I'm getting home from work! I had noticed when I first went out that it seemed to be shifting hard, but the roads were wet, so I thought perhaps it was the stabilitrack kicking in, not going out! I have two small children, who thankfully were not with me. The car has been nothing but trouble since I've purchased it. With such low-mileage, I figured I was good to go for awhile. I have a 2003 chevy tahoe with almost 200,000 miles and have not had this many issues out of it!! contacted Chevrolet, but am told no recalls have been made. Why not?!?!.
I have a 2010 chevy Impala lt with 90k+ miles on it. I originally bought the car in 2011 used with 40k+ miles on it, so the car is no longer covered through warranty. Engine power reduced, service stabilitrac, etc. I'm a full time college student, and a full time uber driver. Last night I was with a passenger on I-94 heading towards o'hare airport. My car reduced speed and suddenly dropped speed from 70mph down to 50mph. As I turned on the emergency light and start steering to the right to get onto the shoulder I was in the third lane to the right (the expressway is 4 lanes) as I was turning to the right to get onto the shoulder and to get to safety my steering locks, and there was a reckless driver going 100mph trying to cut off traffic. The lanes to the left were blocked so he had to cut me off by overtaking me by going onto the shoulder. He damaged his right rearview mirror and probably scrapped the right side of his car pulling off that reckless stunt. Had I delayed the breaking for a second I wouldn't be alive making this post today. Luckily I turned the car off, waited for a few minutes, turned the car back on and took the nearby fullerton exit, and waited with my passenger at the nearby target parking lot for the next uber driver to pick up my passenger and get her safely to the airport. Had I not acted quickly, my uber passenger would have missed her flight.
Reduced engine power lights came, on traction control light came, on it was hard to accelerate in the middle of a highway, car almost shut down, but I made it home. It has happened twice on the highway and turnpike. I thought it was oil but that wasn't the issue. It stops (the problems) after I shut the car off for an evening, but I'm scared it will power down while on the highway again. When this issue happens the car beeps, then the traction light comes on with warning and so does the engine light and reduced engine power warning. Always in motion, especially higher speeds than normal city streets. Such as turnpike and highway.
I was traveling west bound on interstate 22 when the stabilitrak requires maintenance displayed across driver's information center. Next the traction control light and display lights up followed by, reduced engine power, in which I lost almost all power to my vehicle. I was traveling around 70 mph in the left lane and had to navigate two lanes of traffic to reach a safe spot on the shoulder of the interstate.
I was driving and my dash said service traction control engine speed reduced and it slowed down by it self.
Message says "service stabilitrak" engine powering down". Has happened while driving and when first starting. Many gm customers have experienced same issue across several years and makes including the traverse.
Throttle arm replaced for third time.
The antifreezes it gum up the motor the orange antifreezes.
Driving on a highway, traction control warning came on, then a warning that engine power reduced, the car slowed down from 65 to 0 in about 10 seconds. I was able to pull over to the shoulder to avoid getting hit, and shut the car off. When I tried to restart the car, it would not turn over. I sat there for about 10 minutes and tried to start the car again. I was able to start it and get going again finally, but was very nervous to drive on the highway especially since I had my grandchild in the car with me and cars were behind me. The sudden loss of power to the car could have ended up tragically.
Starting in Dec 2014 while driving at random speeds, the 2010 chevy Impala will jerk hard and then the traction control light will come on. Upon this happening, the reduce engine speed appears in the display as well as service traction control, and service stability. This has been happening with various speeds and various weather conditions. If you pull over and turn car off for about 5 minutes, it will start right back up and engine reduced will no longer be on the display.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that when the vehicle was at complete stop and accelerator pedal was engaged to resume speed the vehicle jerked violantly and failed to engage acceleration. The contact had to release the accelerator pedal for a moment, and enaged the accelerator pedal a second time for the vehicle to gain acceleration. The vehicle was taken to pinegar Chevrolet dealer 769 us highway 60 east republic, mo 65738 phone (417)-732-1871 the dealer flushed the engine oil and advised that they was unable to locate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000. Li.
After an attempt to start the vehicle, the ignition would not turn over. Several attempts to start the vehicle were made to no avail.
I was driving my car on the hwy going about 70-75 mph when it happened to me. The road condition was nice with no signs of water on the highway during the hours of 2 pm, great sunny day. The car jerked on me like the throttle was going down. Afterwards the car jerked again and the traction light notification started to beep and the car idled down and I couldn't increase my speed. I continued on the hwy assuming it would rectify itself but my girl (who mainly drives the car), informed me it's been doing this for over the past year off and on probably once every other month. That the weather condition didn't matter it would pop up and slow down and she'd have to pull over and wait about 10 minutes after turning off the car to turn it back on to be able to continue about her day normally. I continued to drive but it never did fix itself. I had to finally take an exit and stopped at a gas station. Might as well take a break while. After about 10-15 minutes, I cranked the car and the issue seemed to resolve itself and I had no further problems throughout the rest of the day.
While I was tryna to started my car it stay before started & the servicemaster tracey on light. This happen on see on occasion.
Driving down busy hwy going 75 speed, engine power reduce message came on also traction control message, I been getting this message over a year in a half took it to a mechanic they couldn't seem to find anything wrong with it, since the message would go away after ten minutes or so I never taught was anything major till my car showed the message starter disabled service throttle came on basically letting me know my car was going to lock on me or something and with a few seconds my speed reduced more and I could not push d gas anymore I had to pull over to the side of the road in disbelief of what just happened and scared so I parked and turned off my car then I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't even start or make a starting noise the steering wheel was locked and I couldn't do anything, I waited at least ten minutes and I tried again and it turned on the message was gone but the check engine was still on. Trough the day this incident didn't happen anymore but I went on line and I see a lot of people with the same model car as me are having the same problem!.
Traction control light and engine reduce speed light came on and car started stutter and slow down on the highway. Replace throttle body twice and replace gas pedal sensor.
Traction control, stabiltrak system engine light comes on reduced engine power, this has happen a lot over the couple months.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the reduced engine power warning lamp and the service stability traction control warning lamp illuminated. Each time the failure recurred, the speed decreased to less than 20 mph and the vehicle shook and vibrated abnormally. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who replaced the throttle body position sensor. The manufacturer stated that the accelerator pedal position sensor was to be replaced in a special condition coverage customer satisfaction campaign. The failure did not recur from the dealer's repair which was over a year ago. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,700.
My Impala keeps giving me a warning light that say service stabilitrak, service traction control and engine power reduced. It stay on for a little while and then goes off. Cannot seem to find out why it is doing this but very concerned that my cars speed will reduce while I am in traffic.
After wet wearher stability light message, traction control comes on while driving as does engine power reduced message power is reduced and vehicle dies if you do not pull over and turn it off and bck on. This is a very dangerous and expensive problem which gm is aware of and could cause serious injuries if not dealt with,.
While going onto the highway the light on dash board lit up stating traction control appear then 2 seconds later the reduce engine power appeared causing the car speed to cease while on the highway luckily it was not rush hour if so there would have been an a fatal accident and luckily I was able to coast to the sided of the road.
My car suddenly lost power while driving, no warning. Engine light came on that says "service stabilitrak". I was able to pull over safely and after a few moments I could drive again. I previously owned a 2009 Impala and this same thing happened! it would have cost $1900 to fix which is why I just decided to upgrade and by another. This appears to be a common problem with this type of vehicle.
I don't remember the exact date, but approximately 2 yrs ago, I began seeing the sequence of messages, "service traction control, service stabilitrak, engine power reduced," and the engine light comes on along with the traction control system light. The car speed was obviously reduced and I couldn't really accelerate. I took the car back to carmax and they said they couldn't find anything and did not know what I was talking about. It happens sporadically, but seemingly always on the interstate while I'm traveling around 65--70 mph. This is very dangerous, and I've been trying to research what needs to be fixed. I do not understand why this is not a recall item. I think this will be the last chevy I purchase!.
Driving home Friday night 12/26/12 on cruise set at 65, bang, car dropped power drastically, kicked off cruise, and the three rotating messages appeared on dash, 1)service stabilitrak, 2)service traction control, & 3)engine power reduced. Both orange placards lit up on dash, service engine and traction. Pulled out of traffic and re started the car. Was able to drive at normal speeds but codes still rotating and placards still lit. Couldn't get it into the shop until Monday 12/31/12. When I started it up to take it in, codes were all cleared and car ran just fine. Dealership told me it was the pedal sensor and would cost me $275 to repair. How can we get gm to do a recall on this on going issue? this is a 2010 chevy Impala lt with 45000 on it. This repair should be covered under warranty and I was told it is not. There have been numerous individuals with this same sensor failing at about 45000 miles. A sudden drop in power to a speed of 25 while driving at highway speeds is very dangerous. It is amazing with as many failures as have been reported to gm on just the edmunds car form site alone that there have not been any serious crashes. Please take a good look at this issue and see if you can't get gm to recall these sensors and get them replaced with better ones.
I have a low mileage vehicle. I have remained current on all of my routine maintenance. The car recently had the warnings: service traction control and engine power is reduced. I have looked on multiple outlets and saw that this is a common problem with this vehicle. The solution that the dealer gives is varied and coincidentally not covered under warranty.
I was driving on a rural road at 55 miles per hour in my 2010 Impala and it was just a normal activity no excessive turning or driving . My light came on and said to service traction control. Then my light said engine power has been reduced. I was trying to get to a safe place to pull off the road an my light came on again and it said it was disengaging the throttle and my car just quit. No power steeering no warning just quit and I barely got it off the road in time to keep me from crashing! the car wouldnt start for about ten minutes but finally I got it started and made it home. If I had been on the interstate this could have been tragic !.
