While driving on the expressway at about 65mph my car suddenly alerted "service stabiltrak, service traction control, engine power reduced" and I was not able to utilize cruise control anymore and it started to slow down to approximately 40mph. Then my vehicle started to jerkily move & then it alerted "starter disabled service throttle" and my car shut down (steering altered & car shut off). I was able to maneuver to the side of the road & tried to restart my car (unsuccessfully for approximately 10 minutes). Did I mention I had my 2 children in the car with me when this happened? this was terrifying as my car just stopped-I had minimal warning & when traveling on the interstate it could've been a lot worse. After reading how frequently this happens, why hasn't it been recalled?.
Engine shut down on the highway, coasted to stop on shoulder. Engine would not restart. Waited 5 minutes then engine restarted error message displayed before engine stopped running: shutting down throttle.
Traveling a state highway at the legal speed of 70 mph, had to break very hard. As the car slowed down the engine shut off and power steering failed.
While driving down the highway, my car shut down. This was very dangerous. I pulled over on the shoulder and every light was on stating engine power reducing. I have had this same part replaced twice in 1. 5 years and there is something serious wrong with the Impala.
While driving on the highway the "service traction control" message comes on, then, the messages "service stability trak" then "engine power is reduced". And then the car shuts down I had to quickly pull over on the side of the road. After a few minutes the car starts up and everything is fine. This happened twice since then. Every couple months the sensor lights would come on with the above message-without car shutting down. The lights come on a lot more often now-although the car does not shut down, it's the fear of the possibility. When googling this problem with the car it sounds like this is a common problem. I'm not sure why there hasn't been a recall. I'm bringing in my car tomorrow to get fixed. However, its upsetting that there seems to be a problem with the throttle position sensor, and there was a recall on a GMC truck in 2008 for this problem. This seems to be a problem regardless of year of miles of the Impala.
Throttle control shut down, engine power reduced, car shut down on highway without warning.
My family and I were traveling from newark, NJ from the July 4th holiday back home to raleigh nc on 95 south in virginia and going at a speed of 72mph approx. And the car/engine just turned off at that rate of speed with 2 children in the back seat of the vehicle. After we sat on the side of the road for about 45min the vehicle proceeded to start and we made it home to nc. The following business day after the holiday I took it to my mechanic giao auto located on capital blvd in raleigh nc and he could not determine why the vehicle shut off the way it did. So I continued to drive just with precaution. I received a letter on 8/21/2014 regarding the recall and was livid because this has happened to my family while driving on the interstate! I believe that this may happen to my family again and do not want to risk this, so I would like to know what can be done to ensure that my children have a safe vehicle.
My 2011 Impala is reading "service throttle. Reduce engine power" and then proceeds to shut down. Even after replacing accelerator pedal position sensor, vehicle is still reading same errors. This is very dangerous because there is no limitations to when the vehicle shuts off. After extensive research, a lot of people are having the exact same issue and Chevrolet hasn't attempted to do anything about it. Please help!.
We were on the turnpike going about 60mph when the engine light came on. The service light for traction control and service stabilitrak warnings came up on the dash. It also said reducing power to engine. The car slowed in speed and began shaking. Service throttle came up on dash also. We had no where to pull off. There is not much of a burm on this interstate and before we could get to a pull off area the car shut down in the road. We had to set there for 10 minutes before the car would restart so that we could get to a safer place. I had my children in the car in the middle of this road with tractor trailers swerving around me constantly. All I could do was pray no one would hit us. We even contacted 911 for assistance. Since this day we have had the same continuous problems. I will not travel on the interstates with this vehicle for fear of this happening again. There doesn't seem like there is any one particular thing that sets this off. But seems to be worsening. I feel this is a safety issue and should be taken care of by gm. From the chevy forums on the Impala it seems this a problem with their Impalas and they should have to repair this problem with no cost to the consumer before someone is killed.
