general problems of the 2011 Chevrolet Impala - part 1

The mechanic wedige automotive in elkhorn WI, use ac delco parts, just in this year he installed the rear swaybar links part#45g0403 the same part broke twice and put the same for the third time. We don't know if is going to brake for the third time, but we are afraid that if we drive in a highway we can be on a bad car accident. The second time it broke, our car got left wheelbearing damage and rear brake pads according the same mechanic that warranty the same defective part and keep putting the same defective part brand. We don't know what to do because our life was in danger twice, we don't want die if that cause a bad accident due to defective parts third time. Please help us.

Clicking noise in my dash board; actuator. I had it replaced about 2 years ago and it has started again. Mechanic said it is common problem with these models.

I was driving my car and suddenly it flashed across the screen service stabilitrak, then service traction control system, then reduced engine speed. This caused my vehicle to slow way down out of no where from 70 to less than 30, and made steering near impossible. I have my two children I drove around and I'm afraid to even drive because if there's an accident with them in the car because my cars slowing unexpectedly someone will be paying for this. This is a huge safety issue and I see all over it is and it needs to be fixed!.

I keep getting errors of check stabilitrak engine power reduced I have changed the throttle body.

Door system on the car has failed multiple times where I have to take the door apart and fix it. It's not all 3 doors it's just one door. I understand you may not think this is a safety thing. But I'm a firefighter and let me tell you that if I had someone in the back seat and I get in a crash. How are they suppose to get out? since I have a car seat on the other side. Especially if the car catches fire. I guess someone dying will have to changed that.

I have been having problems off an on with several issues I don't know if it's sensor , wiring, wheel, or other related but I have been having issues with service stabil trak, service airbags, traction control, braking related, etc. Most recent has been with service stabil trak . I took to dealership and they said computer showed throttle body needed replaced and I've done that then a couple weeks later same lights coming on only this time dealership says it's the right wheel speed sensor harness but I didn't have that repaired because I am seeing in forums online others having same issues and it's an ongoing problem no matter what part of the system you fix so I've been turning off traction control so I don't get warning lights . Vehicle always in motion with these problems and after all the issues I've had and still have I know now that an accident that happened about a year ago is definitely related to all this . I was approaching a busy intersection and saw light was yellow so I started slowing down and came to a complete stop I remember having my foot on brake pedal and next thing I knew my car had slammed into the rear of the car in front of me it happened so fast I was stunned and couldn't comprehend what had just happened and the person I hit was a pregnant female who was very upset. I told her I had no idea how the incident could've happened with my foot on brake we were both on our way to work and since there was no real physical damage to our vehicles we just exchanged info and headed to work. I know now it was related to this somehow and wished I would've reported it. The car had accelerated on its own!! I bought this car from the dealership with 41,000 miles (highway miles ) I was told it now has 92,000 miles on it and I have done all the oil changes and required maintenance but have spent several thousand hours at dealership with every issue imaginable.

I left work to go pick up my daughter at the airport (about an hour away) but heard dinging and saw that I was getting the message to service stabilitrak/traction control and that engine power is reduced. Luckily I was not on a highway at the time, but I would have been if it had happened while I was picking up my daughter. I drove straight home instead and my husband had to leave work to pick up our daughter. I am taking the car to the dealer next week for service. It appears that this is a very common issue with this model and needs to be addressed by gm.

P0128 code. Engine hot a/c off light on dash heat guage drops all the way down and ac does not work. I have replaced thermostat twice and ect sensor once please advise. Thermostat relacement gave me aprox 200 miles each time, ect sensor replacement aprox 50 miles. All driving on city streets in town. Please advise!!.

While accelerating, at approximately 45 mph, the acceleration pedal became stuck and the car would not stop. Brakes were applies and engine fought the brakes until I could get the car stopped. Engine continued to rev high and I called 911. Police dispatcher advised to turn off car in drive. Police arrived and saw that there was no floor mats over the pedals. A few moments later, police and I heard a snap under the dash. At that time we had no idea what the sound was. I subsequent started the car and it idled perfectly. I later figured that the snap sound was the accelerator pedal returning to the outward position. Very scary experience that almost caused several accidents, during the ordeal.

Problem with the actuator--makes loud clicking noise. Don't know which actuator is causing the problem. Problem occurs when it is stationary and in motion. Lasts from a minute to 3 minutes.

After starting the my chevy Impala the engine started shaking rapidly. It showed service stabiltrak, low engine power & the check engine light came on. I shut the car off & started it again. It did the same thing. I cut it off but it did the same thing. I cut it off 1 more time because I did not feel safe driving it & waited a minute before trying to start it again. Surprisingly the engine was running rough. I took it to an auto store where the codes showed throttle issues. I took it to a mechanic. He did some additional tests & informed me that I had a bad throttle body. I had to have this replaced which I was informed that gm has had issues with throttle body & components. Very disappointed that this would happen. Im concerned that this might happen again or happen during driving.

If idle or running the vehicle makes an extremely loud ticking nose. It turns out that it's the blend door acuator.

Check engine - then power reduction - down to about 20 miles per hour - jerking all over the place - then stableteck light comes on. . . Extremely dangerous. Local dealership says this happens frequently - and they don't really know whats going on. . . Gm fix it please. . . I don't have 80,000 and now a busted vehicle - won't buy another gm product ever. . . Oh yeah - retired from gm family.

Transmission failure, vehicle cut off in the middle of the street during rush hour. People could not push the vehicle out of street. Transmission /engine locked.

Bought car 4 days ago. Now the warning light and message keeps coming on about service brake system assist and traction control system needs service. The car bogs. It does this while driving and when at start. The tcs iimblim stays on at all times. Shouldn't this be a recall or under warrenty?????.

"takata recall" - service air bags warning just recently came up on my dashboard when driving. Passenger side seat belt sounds off, and flashes to fasten seat belt when there is no passenger is in the car, and the air bag panel flicks on and off consistently. When I open the drivers door, there a tapping like sound starts and continues for five to six seconds and then stops. When I push the heat and air levers, it stops. When I turn on the air or heat, it will make the tapping noise and stop after a short while. The noise seem to be getting louder. When the car is sitting in the heat or when in the car just sitting and the car not turned on, the same tapping noise will occur. The noise sounds like a wood pecker sound. It sound like it is located in the cooling system area, close by the dashboard area.

Service traction control and check engine lights came on this morning. Then a message saying my engine power is reducing. I just bought this car 3 weeks ago. I called gm customer service and they told me there was nothing they could do, even though there was a recall regarding this because it was over the 120000 mile warranty (but I just bought this car 3 weeks ago!!!).

On the morning of Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015 just after 10am I was leaving my apartment managers office and when I was going in reverse and then to drive and touched the accelerator the Impala began to shake and on the dashboard it said the engine power reduced to half and there was a problem with the stabilitrak. When I parked in front of my apartment building, I turned the car off then back on and it was still shaking/ idling rough and on the dashboard is continued to read, "engine power reduced by half" and mentioned stabilitrak. The engine light was also on during this time. I left the car and returned 10 minutes later and engine light was still on and while it no longer idled roughly, it still had stibilitrak on the dashboard.

Driving along and car just accelerated and could not get it to stop or slow down. Traction control light came on, engine reduce power, low engine power, service stability trak, check engine light. I was pushing down on the brake trying to get the car to stop or at least slow down but the car seems as if it was getting fasting then it made a jerk and I bumped my head against the window, and my foot got stuck under the pedal and knee got jammed . My mom got hurt also and being jerked back and forth.

Car was going about 40mph. Reduced engine power warning, loss of traction control, and stabiltrak to be serviced. Gm will not cover under warranty and is a common problem. Some cars will automatically just shut down.

I made an appointment with the chevy dealer after receiving the recall notice. When we took the car in as instructed, we were told they did not have time. But they did have time to try to sell us some services from them. What is the companies responsibility to fix our car?.

Odometer and transmission position went blank.

When the traction control system activated the engine idle decreased and the system could not locate the new throttle position. This caused the eng power reduction and fault warnings on eng tcs and scs to light in order to drive I had faults cleared and turned off systems. Gm says the codes have to be read to fix. Unsafe.

As I was driving the engine ligh pop on and. Read stabilitytrak reduce. Engine speed service control soon.

My service traction control system light keeps coming across the dash board. It seems to reset itself, but there has been a time when turning. . . . My dashboard lights came on and didn't reset for about a week. If this isn't a problem, then what is it?.

The gm recall to repair faulty ignition switches is a sham. The problem was announced last winter; in August 2014 I received a letter telling me about the recall and that I would receive a further letter when the parts to repair the problem became available. Friday, October 17, 2014, I received a letter from gm's Chevrolet division, which they dated "September 2014" informing me that my "2011 model year Chevrolet Impala was involved in gm recall 14299. This letter is to inform you that parts are now available to repair your vehicle. " a call this morning, Monday, October 20, 2014, to my Chevrolet dealer, johnson motors, brighton, colorado, that services my vehicle informed me that they did not have the parts, and did not know when they would be available. "I should keep calling back. " I asked if could be put on a list to call when the part(s) became available, and was told a blunt "no. " they do not keep a list of customers to call. A call to gm's customer service informed me that the 'parts' consisted of a device, likely plastic, maybe metal, that fits on the ignition key itself, doing nothing for the defective ignition switch, which is the major problem to begin with. I was further told that there was no way to be informed when the part(s) would be available. At that point I lost my temper. This is a patently absurd response on the part of gm to a serious ignition switch problem that has caused at least 25 deaths so far and untold numbers of non-fatal accidents. Their "fix" has nothing to do with the ignition switch, but instead a sham piece of plastic will be added to the owner's key, if she/he is persistent enough to find one available. You, the NHTSA, should be levying heavy fines against gm for every day this sham response of theirs is perpetrated. I will be copying this to both my u. S. Senators and to my congressman.

July 2015, "service stabitrac, losing power" lights came on. Took to local dealer and spent $600 for repairs. September 2015, same problems, took for repairs - no charge. Less than 2 days later the error code is back. Dealer has no clue on problem remedy. When the lights come on, acceleration is affected.

The a/c motor behind the glove box is making a clicking noise and I have noticed on a lot of gm and chevy vehicles the same defect. I think this should definitely be a recall considering a lot of people I know have the same problem.

Upon cranking the car using the key, the car started to make a ticking noise on the right side appearing to come from the engine when the temperature knob is set to heat; however, when the noise stops when the temperature is moved to cold air. The car was service when I purchased it in June 2014 by willett Honda south. Now, December 2014, the noise has started again, as well as, the transmission has gone in this car!!!.

First incident was on (05-29-2014check engine light, service traction system, and reduced power lights came on. Car took off with a jerk. Had car scanned for codes. Came back as the throttle position sensor. Had that changed today(06-06-2014) and code cleared out. Was doing great unill this evening while I was driving home tonight ,(06-06-2014),on highway doing 56 m. P. H. And car shut off. Check engine light came on, service traction control system, and reduced engine power. I quickly veered off into median and turned flashers on. There were several cars behind me. Car would not start right away. After several minutes it started with only check engine light on. My children and I could have been seriously injured or killed had I not been able to react as quickly as I did. Obviously I am not the only one experiencing this same issues based on the investigations on here. I have also researched on many gm forum posts with many reporting the same issues. Gm basically apologizes in the forums and tells them to take it up with the dealership.

I was on the highway doing 60mph and my dash showed a message engine power reduced, service traction station, service stabilitrak. The steering wheel completely locked up and the car shut off. I almost caused a major accident a car had to swerve around me. I managed to get to the side of the road in the construction area. This has to be looked into. I've researched online and I see a lot of Impalas are having this same problem. This should be considered a serious safety risk.

While on freeway check engine light and traction control came on and display read "reduced engine power" and "service stabilitrak" apparently a very common and dangerous issue that has not been recalled.

I think there should be a recall on the stabilizer bar. Our engine powers down if the wire behind the gas pedal gets loose. This has happen to my husband car more than once driving down the road.

Fuel tank shifts when taking off . I believe this could cause the tank to leak and could cause a fire. I believe this vehicle should be put on the recall list. . Iwas told by gm that there was notying the could do abot it.
