While driving, the abs light and stablilitrak lights came on and the steering became harder than normal. Warnings on the dash advised that there is a problem with the stabilitrak and to service the power steering.
The car electrical goes haywire. All these alerts and pop up come on abs lights. Stabillatrac. No power steering. Looked up issue it has something with a bad sensor in bumper. Very dangerous.
I was about 5 minutes from home when all of a sudden warning lights started flashing on the dash board ( photos provided) the vehicle became hard to steer and control. Thankfully it was pretty much a straight highway until I had to make a left and 2 right turn to get to my house. It was as I had to fight with the steering wheel. Thank god! I was so close to home!! I don't even want to think what could have happened if I was on the interstate or a highway with lots of curves. I parked the car in the garage and it haven't been moved since. I called gm repair shops but they want to charge an arm and a leg just to tow itit to the repair shop and another charge just to look at it. I called the vehicle hotline and they couldn't help me because there is no recall on my vehicle. My car has been parked in my garage for over 2 months now because I can't drive it.
Steering wheel locked up power steering message appeared on the dashboard.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while moving from being stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle shuddered and stalled while making a turn at an intersection. The contact stated that a message stating “power steering failure/steer with caution” was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was restarted and driven back to the residence. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to an automotive store to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to retrieve a diagnostic trouble code. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Steering, stabillitrack , and abs affected the steering and ease of driving was disrupted and unsafe. 2nd occurence of this issue.
I was driving down the highway and they wheel got tight followed by the service power steering flashing on the dashboard. I was able to maneuver the car home and once I got it home the steering wheel became to hard to turn at all.
Been having battery corrosion problems. All at once abs and traction lights came on, steering got hard. I was driving when all this occurred.
Failure in my stabilitrak, power steering, and abs system! and it says there has been no recall on my car.
The car shuddered on initial start-up, turned it off waited for a minute. Restarted ran normally. The next day on start-up dic alerted to abs, powersteering, and stabilitack in need of service, noticeable difference in steering control, wheel slippage on quick exhilaration, I tried to brake more cautiously so as not to test my braking ability. Definitely a safety issue. Should be recalled. Had the same problem a year ago spending $495. To have the opposite wheel hub and brg assembly. Hope this isn't an annual event. Love my car but hate expenses that should not occur with a car; especially under 100,000 miles. Why did this happen? there is nothing to blame it on such as hitting a pothole. The weather has been colder, there has been a reference to that as well as some say it is a wiring harness that is in a bad location, wearing exposing wires that make contact with metal. Research shows that other drivers are having the same issue and expense. How many complaints will it take before this safety issue is addressed and customers are refunded this unnecessary expense.
Driving on highway when my abs and traction control lights came on causing my vehicle to lose steering control and braking.
I just got my car back from the dealer and not even a day later after they had it for 3 days they told me that they could find nothing wrong with my car. But as I am riding down the highway I was going about 65 and my car shut and came back on. I lost control of my steering wheel, then the car started driving normal. Once I arrived to my job and turned the car off. My vehicle shut off and the ignition lights along with the side panel lights was blanking but nothing else was on. I couldn't put my windows up and the car wouldn't cut on so I left it for a few minutes and walked back outside after 5 minutes because I noticed all of my outside lights where on, and at this time. I was able to cut my car on and off but I don't know what to expect when I get ready to leave. I need someone to contact me so I can get this fix because its becoming annoying and I am a disabled veteran and its working my mental.
I pulled into my garage and cut of my car. After opening the door my seat wouldn't move forward like it always does. That's when my dash board gave me an error message stating that I need to roll my driver side window down. So, I did that but the next day my navigation system was off along with my radio and on-star system. So I drove to the gas station before heading to work, and when I tried to get in my car the power was off. I went under-hood to see if the battery was loose but it wasn't. So I shut the hood got back in the car and everything including my radio, gps, and on-star came back on. I headed out to work and that is when my car shut off while I was driving on the freeway at 70 mph and the error message said warning no power steering. I got to work safely and realized I left something in my car and that is when my car show signs that it was dead, but after manually getting into my car the power came back on. I also have issues with water getting into my trunk which is what the dealership told me was possibly causing the issues. As a disabled veteran this messes with my ptsd and financially I cant afford to keep paying for an issue that I see my 2014 Impala drivers have. I love the car but hate these issues. I need help with this car and the issues.
When turning left, there is a grinding noise coming from the left front wheel. This grinding noise will also turn on the service stabilitrak and service abs lights. These come on intermittently. I have had several shops including dealerships look at it and are unable to fix it. I have read hundreds of other folks are having this same issue with the same body style for the years. It is time for gm and Chevrolet to find a solution and recall it.
Started car warning came up poersteering issue the power steering did not work. Shut car off let set for 15 minutes and it worked at that time. I drove a short distance to check, shut car off and it did the same thing same warning. Shut off and waited 15 minutes again and it worked. It is now parked scared to drive afraid it will power steering will stop working while driving.
I was driving on a highway at approximately 60 mph and an alert sounded off and on my infotainment center I had a visual alert of a problem with my power steering. The power steering went out completely. It is extremely hard to turn the steering wheel without power assist and I find it incredibly dangerous. We had to cancel our 3 day vacation because I couldn't trust my strength to turn the steering wheel while driving mountain roads. I live in alaska. This, to me, is a safety issue.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle loss power steering assist with the abs warning light and the stability trac warning light illuminated. The contact called whalen Chevrolet inc (1258 NY-29, greenwich, NY 12834, (518) 692-2241) and scheduled an appointment. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. I drifted over the rumble strips while driving 60mph and corrected course - immediately the service display showed service: power steering drive with care and service: stabilitrak . Then I noticed the power steering had gone out. Got home, shut the car off and turned it back on and the same notice popped up. We checked the serpentine belt and it seemed fine. The next day when I started the car, the service lights were still up. I drove it around and suddenly everything was fine and the service display went away.
I was driving on the highway at night and and my power steering and stabilitrak abs indicators came on and the vehicle became very difficult to turn/handle with out warning.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the abs and stability track warning lights illuminated. As the lights illuminated, the power steering ceased to operate. The contact was able to restart the vehicle but the failure persisted. The contact had to have the vehicle towed to her home. Upon investigation, the contact linked NHTSA campaign number: 14v450000(steering) with her failure. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer and it has yet to be diagnosed. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,496. Jo.
Driving on the highway and dash notification popped up that I needed to service my power steering, service my stabiltrac, service abs. I lost power (electric) steering and barely able to exit and park safely. I'm a small woman with not much strength and I could hardly turn my wheel with every bit of muscle. This is not safe! I could've been seriously injured or died along with other drivers/vehicles! this needs to be a complete recall!!!!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, when the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated "power steering maintenance" warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 14v450000 (steering). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 65,000. Dp.
When driving the car it the steering wheel is very delicate to the touch. The steering wheel will easy to move when turning the wheel that may lead to an over correcting and could cause an accident. Also when driving the back wheels will away side to side when hitting bumps causing the steering wheel to move causing the driver to turn it the opposite way for the vehicle to stay in it's lane, however if the driver does not have control it may cause a crash.
When driving the warning sensor came on on saying power steering and stab track problem. I was on the highway and came inches from an accident. My steering was not normal and found it very hard to steer around car in front of me that slammed on breaks. Then I pulled over to see what was wrong and got warning that front camera wasn't working. . . I don't have a front camera! then when I backed out of that driveway it gave warning that my rear camera warning sensors were not working. I'm afraid to drive my car.
Bought car about 6 months ago had 52,000 miles on it seemed to be a decent car until today Dec 1, 2019 driving on the highway at about 70 miles an hour with ice covered roads power steering went out , and stabilitrak, a long with abs all at once and prompted service lights in dash and info screen power steering was so stiff I could barely turn or control car and almost slammed into median luckily not hitting another vehicle drove to nearest exit and turned car off turned back on after about 7 min and still same things in dash thankfully this didn't end worse my car can now barely steer and service lights are on going to try to see about talking to someone at dealership tommaro it seems a lot of people are having this problem with this car.
I was driving on a residential street, going no more than 25 mph with my two two year olds in their car seats behind me. Suddenly and simultaneously, all four of the side airbags deployed (front and back), knocking my girls seats together, the front right side of the car dropped down and started grinding on the wheel. I was able to pull off to the side of the road thankfully. I turned the car off, and when I got out to look at the front, the car door shut, and for the first time, automatically locked me out, my kids inside, with its own key and my purse as well.
While driving down the road I noticed that the power steering drive with caution, stabiltrack, and abs warnings was on the dashboard. It became a little more difficult to steer. When I got home I turn it off and let it set for a few minutes and turn it back on, still displayed warning. I called kool Chevrolet and they told me to bring it in the next morning. They determined the rear hub was cracked. After the $495. 14, it seems to work like usual. My car has less than 60,000 miles on it. I have seen that this was an issue with other 2014 Impalas, it should be a recall.
While driving on city streets and the highway, the stablitrax lights come on then service indicators displays: service stablitrax, front camera, and power steering. The car slows down significantly and the power steering then locks up until you dismiss all of the codes. Then you can hear a clicking that sounds like the car is trying to restart. It happens sporadically. I took it to a shop and he stated to check for recalls because there have been quite a few Impalas being brought in for the same reason. I contacted chevy and they stated that there are no known recalls for my make and model.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. While driving 60 mph, the contact heard an abnormal dinging noise. In addition, the stability control and service power steering indicators displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the hub bearing sensor needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 113,000.
Started my vehicle and power steering warning came on, dismissed it, stability control warning appeared, dismissed it, traction control light and abs light remained on. This occurred when leaving a friend's driveway and driving onto a county road. The power steering was inoperative! took vehicle to repair shop. Mechanic found left rear wheel speed sensor ring broken. This should not happen! there are 50215 miles on this car and it is very well maintained.
Service power steering message in message center. Vehicle was moving on a 2 lane highway. Power steering is gone.
A few problems. Wheel bearing senors go bad effecting power steering and stability control. Replaced 3 wheel bearing on different wheels in past 12 months. Also 20" rims with low pro tires are a problem. Had 2 plow outs in past 6 months when hitting pot holes and damaged 3 rims. Very costly to buy rims at $650 a piece and tires at $230 each. A safety problem not knowing if you will have a tire plow out because of a rough road or pot hole in the road. I have been driving 54 years and never had a problem like this before. Car was in motion with wheel bearing problem and tire and rim problem. At different times I was driving on city streets and highway. This problem happen at different times but most recent 5/5/19.
The power steering went out on my wife while driving on a busy street. She could hardly handle the steering but did manage to pull around a corner away from the traffic. We had it towed to antelope valley Chevrolet and I ask if there was a recall on the steering and they said no. This happened March 14, 2019 and the car had 20,106 miles on it. I was looking through the recalls on this model in January 2020 and it showed there was a recall July 23,2014. Antelope valley Chevrolet charged us $300. 00 to update the software but the recall showed it should of been free. Antelope valley Chevrolet said they checked the recall at 1036 miles so not responsible for this happening at 20106 miles. Did they check the recall at 1036 miles? if they had cleaned the paint from the ground stud nut why would it happen at 20,106 miles. Is it going to keep happening every 20,000 miles because it is a very dangerous thing and could cause an accident very easily. What I think I should get is my $300 back from antelope valley Chevrolet because they probably didn't do the job the first time. Also maybe the recall should be activated again because of the danger of the steering going out and causing an accident on a road, highway or freeway.
