1 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 09/15/2020

While driving the vehicle gas gauge was fluctuating up and down. I subsequently ran out of gas due to the fact that I did not know how much gas I had. I was stuck on the road. I had to get the fuel pump replaced. I checked online and there appears to be a problem with the fuel pump on other chevy Impalas.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 09/09/2020

I bought the car brand new, and now it has just over 24,400 miles on it and I have already had to replace the fuel pump and fuel rails on the car 4 times. Last time was just driving straight down the highway and up and died completely, car would then turn over but not fire, so was stranded along side the highway waiting for a tow truck to come out. I had it replaced the first time at 9991 miles on 12-14-17, then again at 20798 miles on 11-20-19, then 21074 on 2-15-20, then at 24111 on 9-9-20. Yes I know it is under warrantee at this time, but getting really annoying not being able to trust that new of a vehicle to go any distance and not knowing if will leave sit stranded along side the road waiting for a tow again or not. I have emailed the dealership and the are emailing me a copy of all the paperwork, just haven't received it from them yet to attach it, but the have it all at schwieters Chevrolet of willmar.

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 12/24/2018

While driving my car suddenly the information area on the dash board said "service stabil a track " "service traction control" and "power to engine reduced" then the service engine light came on. When I took it to the dealership the service rep told me that I would need to replace the high pressure fuel pump and the fuel feed pipe. He asked if I was using e85. I told him I was and he told me that e85 causes that damages in the Chevrolet vehicles and is why he won't use it in his own vehicle. The owner's manual encourages useing e85. Gm will not pay to repair this even though I followed their owner's manual.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Fuel pump causing weak engine and stabil track service light. Dealer diagnosed. As I was driving the vehicle suddenly lost power, stabil track service and check engine lights. Message warning of decreased engine power.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/13/2018

2003 Chevrolet Impala 3. 4l is difficult to start, replaced many parts to try and fix: fuel filter, fuel pump, spark plugs and wires, oxygen sensors, fuel evap valve, and throttle control. Vehicle currently has 52,xxx miles. Security light flashes, was able to pull error code p1626: theft deterrent fuel enable signal not received. Keys are original to car, I have tried to re-learn keys to vehicle with no success. Numerous repairs are listed under this error code, including the replacement of the bcm, and this doesn't always fix the problem. This issue needs to be researched further.

All soybean based wires and foam. Both repaired at gillman chevy in harligen ,TX. 7 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/28/2018

Under the hood fire and unintended key rotation. Maybe 5 days after I took my vehicle into tc chevy (in ashland oregon) to have the 2 recalls repaired on it. I tried to start my car and it caught on fire down by the front bumper and the flames made it to the back side of the motor and ignited the fuel lines causing a Mini explosion under the hood, mean while I'm sitting in the driver's seat. I jumped out of the car nearly having the life scared out of me, I popped the hood and grabbed my house garden house and started to try and put the fire out and minimize the damage to my vehicle while I waited for the fire department to reach my house. The fire department showed up and was able to get the fire put out almost torching one of the firefighters head when the fuel pump kicked on without the keys in the ignition and started shooting gasoline reigniting the fire. I'm lucky the fire didn't burn down my house and my neighbor's house that day seeing how the fire caught the bush next door on fire and there was flames 14 ft in the air. See chevy and gm have been trying to act like the fire and the damage to the vehicle is my own fault and none of their own even though the technician says none of the repairs were actually done. I've been trying to get an investigation done and they're trying to push my claim aside and sweep it under the rug. My vehicle was parked in my driveway at my home right next to a bush not my neighbor's house is right up against. Please look into this so that it doesn't get swept under the rug. Please help me. I also have the firefighters report.

8 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 04/27/2018

While driving on the highway the check engine light & traction light came on at the same time as these 3 messages, engine may loose power, severice traction control, stabilitrack. The engine started slowing down & had a high pitched whinny noise. After about 10 miles the message changed to engine iis loosing power, wouldn't go over 35 mph and the whinning became louder and faster. I had to have it towed to a gm dealership, where they diagnosed it as the high pressure fuel pump. I was told the parts are on back order until may 15, 2018.

9 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/08/2017

Fuel shutdowns while on the interstate at between 60-75 mph. When the problem occurs while driving, I immediately loose power, it goes into a rough idle, and I have to immediately pull over to the side of the interstate. It will either idle roughly with no ability to increase throttle for 5-15 minutes, or, it will stall and I can start it again in 5-15 minutes (when whatever is not working, cools down). This has been occurring since 2014. Our service center has a long history. No proper error message is given through the register storage when tested using gm shop analyzers. Checked gas cap, replaced fuel pump, cam shaft position sensor, spark plugs & wires, crank shaft position sensor, fuel injector, bcm. Have not replaced coil packs and icm yet. (a dynometer is probably needed to simulate load for a moving vehicle. Many shops don't have it because of cost. ).

10 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

The floating gas gauge doesn't properly read the gas levels, even after replacing the fuel pump system and housing. One minute my gauge says I have 120 miles worth of gas when I cut the car off. The next morning when I get in the car to leave, my gas gauge shows 109 miles then it might jump down to 99. I can never tell how much gas I have. The actuators go bad in every model, I've had a 2005, 2010 and 2013 all of which encountered problems with the actuators going bad during the summer months. When you replace one actuator, it's not long before it goes out again and you need a new one.

11 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/31/2017

I was driving to work. My car started to lose speed. Until it came to a complete stop. I called for a tow truck, that towed my vehicle to a repair shop. After diagnosis of my car the repair guy, informed me it was my module fuel pump flow control. I wanted to know more so I google the problem. I came across a recall on gm site, bulletin 14515b. I noticed it was a recall for exactly the same issue I was having. So I called Chevrolet to see what steps I needed to take on getting reimbursed for an issue that clearly has been a problem on several 2012 Impala's. I was told,it was a recall but not on my 2012 because my VIN # begin with a w. I explain to her that didn't make sense to me. All 2012 was in production at the same time. I'm pretty sure they used the same part on the vehicle. I was told it was nothing she could do. I informed her I will be filing a complaint.

12 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/17/2017

Car has 68,000 miles. A few days ago the engine light came on, which disabled remote start. I didn't realize this until I went to get into the car. I'm in mi and this past week has been very cold. I jumped in and drove it to work (less than 3 miles). On the way, the traction light came on. No surprise, as it was a little slippery. No other problems. On way home from work: car starts up fine, no warning lights at all at start. Its about out. Almost home: engine light comes on, traction light comes on, then right before turning on my road the stabilizer light comes on and reduce power light, car jerks and loses power like its going to stall out. It made it home. Next morning, engine light on but nothing else happens. I call around and dealership suggests I bring it in and hook it up to run a diagnostics for $98. I go over to parts store and have them run it first. Error codes show up that "don't really mean anything" and they reset the engine light. Runs a couple of days fine with no problems, lights coming on etc. Temp drops again and repeat the whole process all over. I bring to the dealership and they tell me it needs high pressure fuel pump and new lines, after they asked me if I ran e85 in it, which I do because that is what they suggested when I bought it! I can't afford the $900 right now and I picked it up. I called another dealership to get another estimate and I'm told that this is a common problem (we're seeing this all the time. It's a problem with running e85 in cold temps). That person suggests I run mao44 and prem unleaded in it and it should run fine for a while. I"m also told that this is not covered by the powertrain warranty and there has been no recall, even though "we're seeing this all the time".

13 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 02/03/2017

"takata recall" I purchased a 2013 Chevrolet Impala 02/2015. One month later my car stopped in me. I got the car towed to serra Chevrolet. They said I was out of gas which I didn't believe cause I was at qtr of tank. They said with the kind of engine I had qtr of a tank meant empty in my car. I didn't believe this. In 02/2016, on my way to work, my car stop on the interstate. I got the car towed to serra Chevrolet again. They said my fuel pump sensor and something else was gone. They used my extended warranty that I purchased w/ serra Toyota when I bought the vehicle. I lost my job due to this problem with this car. In 02/2017, the car stopped on me again. I got the car towed again to serra on 02/03/17. They said it was my fuel pump sensor. I had to pay $420. 21 out of pocket on 02/09 to get my car. They said my extended warranty had expired. I don't understand cause my powertrain warranty haven't expired, I'm also still paying for an extended warranty with my carnote but I can't utilize, and I only used the extended warranty once. On 02/13/17 after I got my car from serra my car stop while I was driving again. I contacted serra. They paid for towing but I had to pay for an emc, which was $329. 18. At the time, my car had 86,078 miles. On 4/28/2017, I don't know what they said was wrong but I paid $1,131. 25 on 05/15/2017. I don't think they knew what was wrong. On 05/24/2017, my car messed up again, and I had to pay $133. 00. Serra gave me a $32. 95 discount cause I've had to spend so much money. At this time, I have 90668 miles on my car. On 06/21 or 27th, my serpintine belt broke and I had to pay $468. To hendrix Chevrolet. That was the closest chevy store where my car stopped. Now 7/18/17 my car is back in the shop at serra. They say my crankshaft and something with my motor. My car have 93,586 miles. I was sold a lemon from serra Toyota. I have paid $2,481 since.

14 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/23/2016

The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Impala. While driving 25 mph without warning, the vehicle lost power and stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel pump and fuel sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,936.

15 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/13/2016

I was involved in a collision while driving my 2015 Chevrolet Impala police vehicle. The front of the vehicle struck the right side of a vehicle that turned left in front of me. The patrol car caught fire during the collision and was only put out when the fire department cut the battery cables. The apparent issue is that after a major collision the fuel pump did not turn off which caused fuel to be added to the fire.

16 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 12/28/2015

Fuel pump has been replaced twice. 1st time on Nov 28,2014(12,314 miles) and then again on Dec 28,2015(30,311 miles). The engine light came on 12/04/15(29,448 miles) and the denton,TX dealership service dept was closed since it was a Saturday afternoon. However we were advised that the car was safe to drive home. Light went off the next day and the waco,TX dealership could not duplicate the issue on December 21,2015 (29,848). Engine light came back on December 26,2015. Same issue as before. Also note the fuel pressure sensor was replaced on June 06,2015 (21,408 miles). This vehicle has been in & out of the dealership numerous times but issue cannot be duplicated unless the check engine light is on. No codes displaying. It seems that the fuel system is faulty and the vehicle will need a new fuel pump or sensor every 12,000 miles.

17 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 11/19/2015

Security light comes on randomly, have to wait ten mins to start vehicle. Security light comes on while driving, my gas fuel gauge stopped working so I track the gas my miles . . First 20 miles struggles to go, first thought it was fuel pressure regulator to the fuel pump to tranny to alternator now it wont shift into gear and I don't know what to do one recall for the ignition is ridiculous.

18 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/23/2015

I leased a new 2015 Impala at the end of may 2015. It is the lt2 model. In oct. 2015 I was traveling on the freeway with my children. The car had a sudden reduction of power, dropping from 70mph to around 30mph. The engine light came on and I had to move out of traffic to avoid being hit by other cars. At the dealership, I was told the fuel pump would need to be replaced. I found it odd in a brand new car, but figured it was a fluke. In oct. 2016 it happened again! the vehicle quickly dropped from 60mph or so, down to 30mph and I was almost hit from behind by a semi. I put on my hazards and exited after driving a mile or so in the emergency lane. This time, I told the dealership they would need to tow it back. After they checked out the car, I was told that it was once again the fuel pump. 2 fuel pumps and two near death experiences under 20k miles. I told the dealership they needed to do something. I could not continue to drive this car in fear. The reason we decided to lease a new vehicle was to have a safe, reliable car. We were informed by the dealership that the sudden reduction of power (resulting in 2 near accidents) was a "safety feature" in the particular trim pkg of our vehicle. It was designed to protect the engine in the event of a problem. It seems that chevy is more concerned with protecting their vehicles than the occupants inside. After writing a negative review on the chevy customer survey, I was contacted by gm. I explained my complete dissatisfaction with the vehicle and since I no longer felt safe driving my family in this unreliable vehicle, I wanted out. Their solution? a free year of xm radio. This past weekend (3/5/17) the engine light came on again. My husband used a diagnostic machine to find out that it is the fuel pump for the 3rd time! the car has just under 29k miles on it & it was barely 3k miles since the last time this happened.

19 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

Engine runs hot for some reason, now its another problem that came weeks later after the engine problem whitch is it won't crank nomore at all it have to be a fuel problem because I smell gas when I try to crank it in I recently just replace a the fuel pump about 5 mounths ago . . 20 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 07/05/2014

While heading south on ohio i675 just south of i35, the gas was no longer being pumped to the engine. I was in the outside lane and was able to get the car to the breakdown lane on the right side without incident, but the car was almost stopped by the time I got it to the breakdown lane. I called aaa and then lang's auto dealership to make sure I could get the car in on a Saturday. Aaa responded quickly and replaced the fuse for the fuel pump since this was the second occurrence, the first while driving. The car was able to make it to lang's. They found that the drain wire in connector x200 a1 shorted to circuit 3640 a3 in x200. The fix was to re-position the drain wire to not contact the fscm wire terminal at x200. Doc id 2585199 location k-16. Had several communications with lang's service and discovered that the mechanic knew the fix since he had done this before. I asked the service manager to report this to gm to hopefully create a recall for this issue. From the service manager: the wiring repair was done at a connector in the right lower hush panel area by the lower door hinge. The technician found this do to experience and proper diagnosis. There is nothing that you did to create the problem. It was not correctly manufactured from the supplier of the harness/connector. And: all warranty repairs are looked at by general motors but I will forward your concerns to my area representative. My concern is there are more issues with this vehicle which are known but not recalled. On the news this morning Subaru was being sued for a similar issue due to safety concerns. I am very concerned that there will be more issues with this vehicle that could cause a breakdown that I will not be able to get the car out of harms way. Please contact me if there are any results from this reporting incident.

21 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/11/2014

My vehicle has a faulty electrical start up system and fuel pump system the battery on this vehicle was replaced and the starter was replaced as well and the vehicle still is experiencing the same problems. I took the vehicle to be serviced at a mechanic shop and the vehicle worked perfectly fine for the mechanic at the time and they were unable to make any repairs because the vehicle didn't perform the issue in front of the mechanic. The issue has been going on since June of 2014 and it randomly wont start at all and then its starts hours and hours later. I have spent hundreds of dollars replacing parts on this car that deal with starting issues and still this car is experiencing the same difficulties. I have been stranded numerous places with this vehicle refusing to start. I am aware that this vehicle has a recall out for key ignition electrical switch and fuel pump pressure all of which fit the problems my vehicle is experiencing the recall that is available to my vehicle doesn't include either one of these and I personally feel it should include these because multiple mechanics who have inspected the car have confirmed these are the issues this car is experiencing I don't have hundreds of dollars to keep installing and making repairs on this car only to have it keep breaking down I am in need of assistance to figure out if I can get this vehicle under the other recalls as well please and thank you.

22 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 03/08/2014

The cooling overheat light went on and the car turned off on me and my child on the exit of the 170 fwy, it now makes a screeching sound like metal, the radiator leaks and something smells burned, the mechanic I went to that was close by said I have to now replace the engine and other expensive items that seem to fall under the 2001 Impala recalls, my fuel pump has an issue as well and the electrical problem even worse it turns of and on as it pleases.

24 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 01/08/2013

I put a new fuel pressure sensor in and now my 02 Impala wont start and not getting any power to fuel pump now, we are a car lot and this car has been sitting unable to start now for over 2 weeks, had many certified mechanics from our area observe the problem, including 2 certified Chevrolet mechanics, and none have come up with a solution. Just don't make sense, I am sure Chevrolet is aware of the problem so please let me know what the problem is so I can have it repaired so we can sell the car.
