I purchased a 2011 Chevrolet 2011 Impala lt car recently. I find that the heights of the three back-seat head rests are extremely hazardous for a driver of this car. Each head rest is five inches too high to see out the back window. I had not heard before hand that the 2011 Impala was well known for this problem until after I had purchased the car. Recently, because of my limited visibility past the left back-seat window head rests, in backing my car, I bumped a parked car. My left rear fender struck the license plate holder of that car. The cost of this fender repair was $983. 00. I fear that my driving this car without changes made in the construction of these head rests is leading to another more serious accident waiting. To happen. I will appreciate your attention into this matter. Thank you.

During a long trip I had my heated seats on high. I had hurt my back and the heat helped keep the back muscle loose. I had removed my coat, but still had a long sleeve shirt on. No bare skin was touching the seat. After about 8 hours on the road, I started feeling discomfort on my lower back like a sun burn. I showed my wife and she said I had 2 large (size of half dollar) blisters on my lower back. I had no idea this cold happen from a heated seat. There is n warning I could find that states this could happen . My heated seats do not turn off, they stay on until you turn the car off. I have pictures taken 9 days after incident. The areas still have skin missing.

While operating the vehicle I noticed thick white smoke coming up from under my seat, I put down the windows was able to pull off to a safe space and by that time visible fire was coming up from around the edges of the seat I hit the onstar botton told them my care was on fire they dispatched police and fire department. After the fire was extinguished the fire department said that it appeared to them that the wiring from the seat motor at shorted out and burned through the wire casing which then caught the seat I was sitting in on fire. The auto body also stated that that appeared to be what happened to them as well.

Noticed that front driver's seat appeared to be loose. Took vehicle to Chevrolet dealer where it was purchased. Upon inspection by the dealership the following was discovered '" seat frame bolts in the rear and slides into slots in the front found metal fatigued allowing seat to move slightly". Since the vehicle is no longer covered by the factory warranty, the dealership will not fix. The service manager suggested that I take vehicle to a auto body shop to see if a piece of metal can be welded onto the area where the front of the seat is attached to the body of the vehicle. The main concern that I have is the safety of the driver if vehicle is involved in a collision. How the metal can fatigue in a vehicle that is only three and a half years old makes no sense. Please look into the problem and advise. Thank you.
My wife was sitting still at a red light on a road with a 50mph speed limit. The other driver did not see the red light or her car & rear ended her at full speed. The back of her seat snapped all the way back and the bottom of the seat lodged upward causing her thighs and pelvic area to be severely compressed between the steering wheel and seat while her head was jostled around vigorously due to the lack of back support. Her seatbelt was on and worn properly. Her body was thrown forward then slammed back hard. She sustained injury and was diagnosed with a brain contusion and severe whiplash by the trauma unit after being rushed via ambulance to the nearest local hospital.

2011 Chevrolet Impala. Consumer writes in regards to issues with vehicle head rest the consumer stated the rear head rest were too high and it was difficult to see, which made backing up difficult.
The air bag light illuminated . We took the vehicle to GMC -Buick dealer who said there was a problem with seatbelt anchor assembly and has had a recall. They said the car had been in for the recall id # 89931 and had been checked. We did not own the vehicle at that time. We bought the vehicle on 8/ 31/11 from a different dealership. We had owned the vehicle only 6 weeks when the problem arose. We don't know if problem was ever solved or if the trouble was just cleared. The light was off when we left the dealership this time. We believe if problem was properly repaired on the recall there would not be a problem at this time. This dealer (young- Buick GMC) of owosso, mi said the cost of the repair is $190. 79. We don't think that we should have to pay for this repair because it was a recall and the problem still exist. Evidenty the problem still exists it must of not been fixed properly.

I had purchased a 2010 Chevrolet Impala in July, 2010. The first attempt at repair of the front end vibration was on 10/22/2010. The dealership did not recognize the vibration. The vehicle tires were rotated on 01/26/11 in an attempt to stop the vibration in the front end. The vehicle was taken in on 03/18/11 for front end noise (thump) while turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 07/07/11 for the thumping noise in the front end while turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 07/28/11 for a front end thumping noise when turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 08/16/11 for a front end thumping noise and the dealership notices the tires were wearing slightly cupped on the inside edge. The vehicle was taken in on 09/08/11 for a whining noise from tne engine bay and power steering fluid was flushed. The vehicle was taken in on 04/09/12 for front end thumping noise, wheel bearing, transmission surge, and whine noise from radio. The vehicle was taken in on 06/27/12 for rough idle, tire replacement, transmission. The vehicle was taken in on 07/27/12 for rough idle, transmission surge, thump noise in front end and whine noise in radio. The vehicle was taken in on 10/05/12 for transmission surge, rough idle, thump noise in front end, and whine noise in radio. The outcome at this point is the dealership tried to reprogram the vehicle, gm approved replacement of all four tires, a replacement of the power steering pump, wheel bearing on driver front side. The dealerships have done two throttle body cleanings. The dealership has stated they will replace the rotors but gm would not approve replacement only turning on the rotors. This case has been opend with the better business bureau whom advised me to contact NHTSA. Gm refuses to replace parts because their computer system cannot tell them what is wrong with the vehicle. Gm has recalled the police vehicles for front end suspension and has a lawsuit pending in michigan for personal vehicl.

I own a 2011 Chevrolet Impala which has a serious traffic hazard involving the three rear head rests affixed/sewn - which makes them non-adjustable. The problem is aggravated by the fact that the head rests are higher than most vehicles. The fixed position of these head rests block the driver's vision out of about one third of the rear window. The middle head rest is especially troublesome. I wrote general motors about this approximately 2 weeks ago and they have not responded. The sales and the service departments at the dealership are well aware of my concerns. Nhtsa complaint 10358310 was also filed concerning this identical problem, I have 61 years of driving experience - all sizes/types of autos. In my considered opinion this is a design flaw. I have raised the driver's seat to the highest setting and have tried all possible adjustments to the inside and side mirrors in an attempt to solve this to no avail.
Heated seat shorted out, caught fire, burned driver.

I bought this car 4 years ago and I did not have problems till this happend, the car dont want to star in several times, im already pist off and I dont really know what to do with it, cuz I know that nobody is going to buy it like that; I like the car but this is unaprobable!!!!.
Right passenger heated seat overheated and charred leather seat cover before I noticed a burning smell. I've removed fuse to this seat, but my seat is ruined. My local Chevrolet dealer said he has had three other gm vehicles to do this and even caught one man's coat on fire laying in the seat. But , he said there was no recalls on his records from gm. Now I'm stuck with a five or six hundred dollar repair bill if I have it fixed. I can't take fuse out for driver,s seat, as it also controls another function on car. Now I'm afraid it will overheat and I'll be burned like some of the others I've read about on the internet. . Read more...

I have a 2000 Impala LS and the rt side seat warmer over heated and almost caught on fire. My local chevy dealership said they had seen several do this, but there's no recall. My husband unplugged it and remove fuse. Now the seat is all burned and cracking, looks very bad. Why wasn't there a recall on this? I've read where some people have had their seat to catch on fire and blaze up.
Hit from behind the seat lumbar roll made my back injury worst.
