3 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 07/19/2013

After getting new brakes put on my car, the low tire pressure light would come on for different tires. It was random and after checking the tire pressure they were all fine. The light is on all the time and when I check my tire pressure on the dash panel they all four read 0 tire pressure. I have to check them manually which sounds petty but I paid for this option I should be able to use it. My remote car starter doesn't work because this error message is on. I've had it reset and it comes right back on. I wad told the wheel sensors were broke when getting the brakes fixed and that they cost around $100 each. There has to be some way to make these so they don't get broken while getting normal maintenance done so I now have a huge additional cost that far exceeds the cost of getting the brakes.

4 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

2006 Chevrolet Impala. Consumer writes in regards to transmission problems. The consumer stated the transmission was slipping. She explained to the dealer, there was a recurring problem with the transmission. Each time, the consumer went to the dealer, she was informed they could not recreate the problem, and therefore no problem existed. Besides the transmission problem, there was a horrible ratcheting machine-gun type noise coming from behind the dash, when she changed the vent position. The loud noise lasted for about a minute and was almost ear-piercing. Also, the engine mount broke, the water pump, steering and tie rods failed, the engine burned excessive amount of oil, and the engine low oil light illuminated. The windows made a screeching sound, the sunroof would drag, the plastic headlight covered were fogged and faded. The tire pressure monitoring light was constantly on. On April 24, 2013. The consumer took the vehicle to an independent transmission shop to have them assess the same transmission slipping problem, she had been experiencing for seven years. They dropped the transmission pan, and they found fine metal, pieces of aluminum and clutch material in the pan.

5 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 08/24/2011

I am the owner of 3 quick lube centers and service thousands of vehicles per month. There is a problem with the valve stems on the newer tires with the tpms. The metal used is substandard, they break very easily. I have seen them break by taking off the metal cap covering the valve stem. I have had to repair close to one hundred of these because of the substandard metal being used. This is a safty issue, I hope you can look into this. You asked to identify a spcific make and model and I chose a 2010 chevy Impala, but many manufactures use these valve stems.

6 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 07/20/2011

We purchased our 2007 Impala ss on 11/17/09 with 33,003 miles on it. On July 20, 2011 while driving home from work with my wife and stepson on the I-94 freeway in clinton township, mi. , the leftside rear tire blewout. We notice that it had broke the inner plastic piece and bent the muffler tip and there was clearly no rubber left on the inside of the tire all you saw was wires. Had to put our spare tire on. Took the car into the tire shop on July 22, 2011 to have that tire replaced, service guy said there was no rubber left on the inside of the left tire in the rear, and the wires were clearly visible and showed us them, which we had noticed when this occured. He also stated that on the rear rightside the wires were showing too. We had him replace all 4 tires on the vehicle. He also stated that we had been the 4th Impala they had replaced tires on in the past week. While on the lift we noticed that the back tires were slightly leaning out, like (/) left side and (\) right side, I told him that I want the tires back and he gave them to me. We took them home and took picks of them and the back of our car to show how the tires were still leaning out, and also took pictures of where the plastic had been broke in the wheel well. This has happened in less than 20,000 mile since we purchased the vehicle. I went to the dealership that we purchased the vehicle from and told the service guy what had happened, he stated that there was no recall as of yet on this problem but that other people had came in with the same complaints, that I should get ahold of gm and see what they say. He told me that he was aware of the police vehicle that had been recalled but as of yet knew nothing about all others. He stated that he wished he could do something for us but there was nothing he could do. When is gm gonna do something about this?.

8 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 06/16/2010

Tire pressure monitoring system provides readings for incorrect tire. Tpms reported pressure for driver side rear when actual reading was for passenger front. Incorrect reading could cause driver to check the wrong tire, conclude that tire was drivable, then have tire failure on the different tire.

9 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Impala

Inside rear tires on '08 Impala ss are worn down to the threads. Extreme safely issue since this is not something you would usually notice unless it's up on a lift. Does someone really need to get in a crash and get killed or kill someone before this is a recall?.

Failure Date: 09/11/2008

I had my 2007 chevy Impala lt serviced at dyer chevy (vero beach,FL. ) and since then the tpms warning light has been coming on and off daily. Went in a few weeks later to have sensor reset and it stopped for a couple of days. Went in on 9/11/08 and had a detailed check while tpms light was still on and got news that the sensor was bad and had to be replaced, as well as the 2 remote transmitters, since they would not work with the new receiver at a cost of $600 plus dollars.

12 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

Tire pressure monitoring system failed repeatedly during warranty by not showing one or two of the tire's pressure. Was never repaired at the gm service, only reset. The defect reapeard in 3 days to 6 months after the reset. Initially would appear while driving on highway. Now at over 100,000km it failed for all 4 weels. I did not attempt to do anithing about this yet. The absence of tire pressure information may cause accidents due to lakk of information about loss of pressure in tires.

14 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 10/12/2007

We purchased our 2007 chevy Impala brand new January 07. Since then within a year we have already replaced 2 tires that were bare on the outside part of the tire. The tire monitor service always pops on the display saying tire pressure off almost daily. We've taken it back to our chevy dealership on several occasions for them to check. They have re-set this monitoring thing several times, re-aligned the car, replaced 2 tires (at our expense). Right after this last time we took it in, the next day the warning popped up saying right rear tire pressure was at 58!, I thought my tire was going to blow up. Parked it to go into business, within about 20 min came out and started and tire was normal? several times the light flashes "tire monitoring system service soon" it rides very bumpy even after replacing bad tires and re-aligning. We have taken this car in over and over and still no recall on this problem. I'm sorry but this is one out of several gm vehicles we've had, and gm is terrible at taking care of their customers when it comes to problems. This car has 34,000 miles on it, warranty ending soon, we are now trying to get rid of it because of the problems already with the tires, etc. I do not feel safe in this car and constantly the tire monitor flashes pretty much every day, then shut it off, sometimes it goes off, sometimes it doesn't. I do not feel safe, nor do I feel this is a reliable vehicle on a long road trip.

15 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 09/10/2007

My 2003 chevy Impala has a feature for showing low tire pressure. 1st time my tire was below 20 lbs with a nail in it and low tire pressure did not show. I took it to dealership. They could not find anything wrong with it. 2nd time my tire had a blow-out in the side wall. While running on a flat tire, the low tire pressure did not show. I replaced the flat tire with the spare and when I drove off with the spare, the low tire pressure showed. It is a good thing the 2nd time with the blow out and flat tire: a. It was on the back wheel and it did not affect my driving and on a slow city street. B. It was not on my front tire , where it would have affected my driving and I was not on a freeway, where I may have been killed from it. To me, this is a defect in the 2003 chevy Impala that could cause an accident and death. The consumer stated there was a 3/4 inch hole in the middle of the sidewall. Updated 09/26/07.

16 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 07/23/2007

My car is in the shop today because of the tire monitor system. This is the fifth time that it has been in the shop for this problem. Around late January I had it in the shop for a rust spot close to the sun roof. Also someone who was looking at my car told me it had swirl marks on it because it apparently had been buffed before I purchased my 2006 Impala ss, in June of 2006.

17 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Impala

Failure Date: 07/01/2007

In January 2007 I purchased a 2006 chevy Impala and approximately 6 months later I had my first problem with the car. First problem: "service tire monitor system" (7/07) I took the car to the dealership and the sensors were replaced for free in two of the tires. I have since experienced this same problem over and over again. I did not have this fixed at all in 2008 because the dealership wants to charge me for the replacement of the sensors. I just let the monitor continue to blink on and off. I had it replaced in 4/09 due to other standard replacements. Second problem: heating (found problem 10/07) to get heat in the car your foot must be on the peddle and the car must be moving. The moment you take your foot off the peddle to press the brake, the heater goes out and the air turns cold. This problem was fixed in 4/09, when the other replacement parts were fixed. Third problem: on and off jerking (9/07) if you are at a stop light and it turns green. You press on the gas tank but the car does not go anywhere for a moment. Then it jerks and takes off. It seems like there is a delay in the thinking process like the car is not aware it should go when you press the gas. In 4/09 I addressed this problem with the dealership but nothing could be found wrong with the car and of course it did not happen when they took it for a test drive.
