My 2000 Chevrolet silverado K2500 , VIN 1gcgk29u9yz195436, purchased in December 1999, had a hydraulic power, loss resulting in immediate loss of power steering and brakes. I was able to secure the vechicle and call a tow truck and towed to delership. Nhtsa has a recall 05v-005000 for this model and year, however it does not cover my VIN. Contacted gm to see if they would repair this under the recall and they refused. It appears there are more vechicles with faulty power steering pumps than the recall covers. Request you review this recall. The pump will be replaced and I will request the removed parts be saved for me.
