Four problems related to coolant leaking have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Malibu. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Rotor replacement x 3. Suspension - front replaced. Calipers x3. Tire wear and leaks - replaced annually. Radio - bad wiring. A/c in dash wiring replaced twice. Rear light assembly replaced twice. Leaking in rear light assembly and trunk. Coolant leak - 8/06 at 74000 miles. Mechanic believes it is the water pump. A/c sensor replaced.
Consumer stated that while driving and without warning the vehicle started to leak coolant.
Coolant system failure. This "5 year" coolant gm uses does not last 5 years. This 1999 vehicle developed a leak, overheated, and blew a lifter. The engine is ruined at 78,000 miles!.
Intermittentlly vehicle over heats and stalls . Every 30-45 days coolant has to be added to vehicle due to gaskets leaking. Dealer was notified, and a 3rd party diagnosed gasket deterioration.
