2006 Malibu VIN number shows no active recalls but my wife who drives the car informed me that the car was acting funny so I took for drive and first turn wheel hesitated like it didn't want to turn and when it did could feel it on the column like something was moving that wasn't suppose to this is main road through city heavy traffic so immediately headed for home and have to cross tracks to get there and when I went over sounds like front end wants to come off the car sounds like loose stability bar or joint and to top it off I noticed fuel gauge was going from full to empty and back up so in actuality she has know idea how much has she really has in vehicle I seen a lot of complaints about these things happening to this model and I send my wife and kids off daily in this vehicle with these problems that could pose a huge threat to their safety if it happens to her on main road or rr crossing.

Also, the engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle failed inspection and the independent mechanic stated that the dtc indicated that the fuel level sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was to be taken for an appointment at nucar Chevrolet (174 n dupont hwy, new castle, DE 19720, (888) 626-3594). Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the fuel gauge failed. When refueling, the fuel gauge would drop to empty. The contact would turn the vehicle of and on just to get the right reading of the fuel. The failure recurred daily. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
The fuel gauge is not functioning properly. When I fill the car up completely with gas, the dashboard indicator reads zero and I get a low-fuel warning message. When this problem started, after driving 15-20 minutes, the gauge would then read 'full' again, but the 'check engine' light would come on, and during this time the remote start function would not work. Now the car reads empty at all times, the engine light is on, and the remote start does not work. This led me to run out of gas. I am worried about the car stalling while on the road, as I have read happening to other gm vehicle models, and I am worried about running out of gas again. Fuel system problems seem to be very common with gm vehicles, especially the Malibu, and I would like to see the problem addressed.
Tl - the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that after refueling, the fuel gauge would display an inaccurate reading. The contact mentioned that the low fuel gauge and the gas cap warning lights illuminated. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that two fuel level sensors and the fuel level sending unit needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 11e009000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 146,800 and the current mileage was 147,414. Dr.
I financed this vehicle in may 2011 and three months after having this vehicle the fuel gauge stopped working. I have run out of fuel on several occasions trying to bring groceries home or coming from work. Its dangerous because people don't have considerations for others. Lucky for me I have been able to get to the side of the road. However, its not always safe. It is going to cost me a good bit to even think about having this fixed. I still owe a little over 8k on this car and I bought it used. I have been thinking of trading it and having what I owe tacked on to the end of the note just to know that I will be safe as well as my children and not worry about whether I have enough fuel or not. On top of that my husband has been doing my oil changes and says that there is oil all over the bottom of the motor and the oil has a red tint. I would think after everything I have been through to even end up with this vehicle I would not have encountered all these problems. I know some Malibu's have ben recalled on parts and everything so I would love to know how I could find out if there are any that have been recalled on this vehicle. I love this car but need reliability to get to work and home, taking kids to school and helping my parents when they need to go to dr appointments they are both in remission of cancer so I want to make sure everyone is safe.
Fuel gauge is not working. (1) it is always at full. I can't tell how much fuel is left. One time my car stopped and engine turned off while driving. This time I was lucky enough because my car was in parking lots. (1) it is always at full, but intermittently drops from full to empty, and beeps low fuel message. And then after seconds it bounces back to full. After several rounds, check engine light will turn on. Searched the web - seems like plenty of the same complaints.
Fuel gauge would go from full to empty and check engine light would come on! now light stays on all the time and fuel gauge doesn't work at all!.
Beginning in 2010 I had to replace the brakes on my car multiple times. To date I have replaced break pads, drums, and lines 5 different times. My breaks seem to wear easily and frequently screech. Beginning in 2013 after filling my car with gas my "low fuel" indicator dings and my fuel gauge shows empty. This happens every time I fill my car with gas. I have received a recall notice regarding power steering. On two separate occasions I have experienced my power steering going out and I am forced to pull over and turn off my car and turn it back on for the car to work properly. I have contacted gm regarding the recall notice and I have been advised that no parts are available and they will not provide me with a rental vehicle and expect me to continue to drive the vehicle "until the parts are available". They will not provide me with a timeline and have been unresponsive to my other complaints regarding the vehicle.
The fuel gauge erratically jumps from full to empty and back to full. It does not properly display the fuel level. It is also causing an issue with emissions and the engine light. This has continued for over a year.
