Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while stationary and driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning on several occasions. On each occasion, the contact immediately enabled the hazard lights and coasted to the side of the road. The contact stated that the anti-lock brake warning light illuminated. An independent mechanic replaced the alternator, the ignition switch, the starter, the fuel tank and the battery but the failure recurred. Vandergriff Chevrolet - 1200 west interstate 20, arlington, texas 76017 (682) 323-2486 - was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer. 2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

The gas gage reads the wrong so you don't know how much gas is in your tank. The check engine light stays on so you don't know if it is going off for a different reason. The low fule light goes on all the time even when it is full so you don't know if you are going to run out of gas on the side of the road. The gas issue has been a problem for about a year. I have a second chevy Malibu the same year 2006 and it does the same thing with the fule gage and check engine light. One time the check engine light was going off about something else and I didn't know it because the light is on all the time because of the fule gage. The seat belt light goes off when you have your seatbelt on.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2017

Since I have bought this used chevy Malibu, if I press the gas pedal to accelerate it sometimes lock myself steering wheel in position, and jerks my car a good bit. Then my car gives me a error message on my radio stating power steering pump fluid. I have done research and took to a mechanic and nobody could find it and suggested it may have a fuse not an actual reservoir for fluid. It occurs at while turning, driving on highways and all other roads, going up and down hills or moutains. As well as my middle seat belt buckle no longer latching into the buckle will hold for a moment and then after applying brakes the safety belt will dislodged from the buckle. Another issue is the gas hand goes from full to empty will sitting still with the car running. I can fill the tank and it will say it's empty and will even have my estimate miles left also say low fuel.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2017

I filled my gas tank and when I started my car, the fuel light level went from full to empty with the warning light "low fuel" lit up. Then the service engine light came on. After about 3 to 4 times of driving the vehicle, it seemed to go back to normal, that is until the next time and the next time and so on that I filled my gas tank. It is currently doing the same thing. I do not ever know how much gas I have in the car because the needle goes up and down constantly.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2015

Not sure when tank is full or not. Reads full when driving and empty light goes on when stop the car.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

I received this car from my dad in January of 2014. He warned me that if you fill it up all the way that the gas level will drop from full to empty. He said it happened to him and he had to turn off the vehicle and turn it back on and press enter to fix it. I never filled the car all the way up over the course of the last year until about three weeks ago (January 2015). After doing so, the tank would read full and after a few minutes would drop down to empty. My check engine light also came on. For the past few weeks, the gas level will read either full or empty, no in between, no matter how much gas I put in it. I see there are a lot of other people having this same issue, and I agree that there should be a recall on this matter. We should not to have pay for an obvious and repeated issue with this make and model of car.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

Every time I fill up my gas tank the fuel gage drops down to empty and the car feels like it wants to turn off no matter what speed I am going it does this. This is very scary when it happens and I'm driving on the highway.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2014

When I filled up my gas tank it started reading incorrectly, and would show empty. Over the period of a week the gas gauge does not work at all and my check engine light is on all the time. Took it to mechanic and he stated that the senor needs to be replaced. This is over a $500 cost.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

I had just filled my gas tank to full. I drove down the street for a few blocks and the fuel gauge all of a sudden went to empty. I pulled over to the side of the road and turn the car off, then turned it back on again. The fuel gauge went back to full. But as I continued to drive down the street, it went back down to empty. I took it to the repair shop and was told that I needed to replace the fuel sensor for which I did. However, upon researching the latest recall of gm's that addresses the steering column issue (I'm having this problem too), I discovered that the fuel sensor issue was recalled previously. So I called chevy and was told that my VIN was not recalled. I need some direction/guidance on how to get my VIN included in the previous recall, if at all possible so I may be reimbursed. Is there anything I can do since my Malibu also experienced the same problem with the fuel sensor as other Malibu's? your assistance/guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed to display the correct reading, which prevented the contact from knowing when the fuel tank was full or empty. The contact also stated that the engine light illuminated while refueling the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was not available.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2013

I have had issues since the day after I got it. I have had this vehicle for less then a month and within 24 hours of having it the issues started. The fuel gauge drops to empty, when I fill the tank. The starter will crank but the car will not always start, sometimes the start is a long crank & sometimes it will not start at all, now today the check engine light is on. The steering wheel makes a popping noise.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2013

I filled up my gas tank and while driving for a little bit the fuel gauge when to empty, the light came on and the messag read low fuel.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

I'm highly upset with my vehicle. The first time this happened was back in June and I had just filled up my car and I drove home the car was fine. Got back in the car to go to the store not even 30 minutes later, start the car pull out of my apartments and it immediately said no fuel! so I freaked out thinking someone stole my gas or the gas station had some bad gas. . . . Then the next day it would go back and forth from f to e. It's now almost the middle of Aug. And it still does the same thing. I ran out of gas on 8/2/13 taking my mother to the hospital for an emergency! something awful could have happened and it all would've been because I can never tell how much gas is really in my car! there needs to be a recall for this, I'm obviously not the only person with this problem and from this site, complaint's go back to 2011! that's 2 years and nobody has tried to get this issue fixed! there can be accidents because of this!!! I would love to not have to pay to get this fixed because I'm not paying $600+ to get something really simple fixed but because you have to drop the gas tank it makes it more expensive. . . . . Please get this fixed because I'm bout ready to get rid of this car because of it! had it for 3 years and I refuse to spend that kind of money on a part that should be considered a recall.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2013

I pulled in gas station shut car off, attendent filled tank, when he was done I paid and started car, car dinged a lot and gas gage registared empty, and message on screen said low fuel, and check engine light was on. Long story short if you bounce car gage comes back up to full, then drops back down until you do this a couple times, then runs ok. This happened again yesterday 03/31/2013, seem to only happen when I fill the tank. I noticed there are other complaints on this, is there a recall on this?.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2013

I have a 2006 chevy Malibu, first incident was probably Jan 2013 I filled gas tank and instantly the gage goes to empty and engine light comes on , then gage goes from full to empty for up to 3 days , then it goes back to normal. Now I have a problem with the steering pulling me from left to right , sometimes very suddenly. Had the alignment done and new tires still have the same problem. Getting scarry to drive. Cant figure out what problem is will have to take to dealership.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2012

Gas fuel gauge goes to empty/then full, unknown how mach gas is in tank. When in the midwestern parts of the country, during winter months you do want to know how much fuel is in tank.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the fuel gauge malfunctioned and indicated that the fuel tank was full when it was actually empty. The failure recurred numerous times and the gauge even malfunctioned while in the park position. A week after the failure started, the check engine light began to illuminate and remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a personal mechanic for diagnosis and the contact was informed that they would have to drop the entire gas tank. The manufacturer was notified, but offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were 66,900.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2012

The fuel sensor is very erratic. As soon as the car is filled up with gas, the fuel sensor will go from f to e in the matter of seconds. When this problem first began, the gauge would go from full to empty until I drove just enough that the car's fuel level was not completely full. At this point, the sensor would work and I was able to rely on the fuel gauge on the dashboard. After some time, however, the sensor stopped working altogether. Now the sensor is constantly moving from full to empty for no reason whatsoever. The check engine light is always on and I never know how much gas is in the tank. I have to keep track with the trip monitor. Auto repair shops have quoted this repair at around $600 stating that the car needs a new fuel assembly kit. This issue must be fixed in order to pass emissions testing.
