I was driving at approximately 55mph on a highway when the vehicle gave a warning of engine power is reduced. My car quickly dropped to 20mph and I was unable accelerate. This happened while there was another vehicle behind me and I was scared I was going to be rear ended. I put my hazard lights on and parked my vehicle. I shut the vehicle off and turned it back on which allowed me to operate the vehicle again but only at a capacity of 40mph. I had the vehicle repaired later that day it needed something with an electronic throttle control and pedal sensor replaced. I also learned that this is an issue that gm is well aware of and feel that they need to recall vehicles affected by this issue. There's no reason a vehicle should be dropping to 20 mph unexpectedly on a highway.

While driving 65 mph car issued warning reduced engine power and check engine light popped on. Car then would not drive faster than 30 mph. Very sudden and with no previous warning this happened. Took to repair shop and after diagnostic was told acceleration pedal sensor was bad. This is not a covered repair and cost $800. This sudden reduction of power is very dangerous and a safety hazard to me and other cars on the road.
While in motion the engine power is reduced then the car slowed to a speed of 20 mph. Upon starting m vehicle a week a later the engine reduction warning came on again. The throttle body was replaced now I'm being told it's the accelerator pedal position sensor . Why should I have to pay for this.
Several times a week my car will suddenly go into "engine power reduced" mode and go into low speed. If I get out of the car, lock it, and unlock it 30 seconds later it will reset and then be okay for a few minutes. This power reduction is exceedingly dangerous when moving at highway speeds and suddenly needing to pull over. The check engine light will come on but then disappear sometimes the same day after having parked for a while. Typically the car goes into this "reduced power mode" after about 45 minutes of driving. I was able to capture the following error codes: p1101 (intake air flow system performance), p2122 (throttle position sensor d circuit low input), and p2138 (throttle/pedal position sensor/switch d/e voltage correlation). Really hoping this will be replaced under warranty instead of having to get it fixed myself!.

I was driving downtown when car engine warning light came on and it slowed down then shut off, luckily the car behind me didn't hit me. I was able to pull over. I've had it towed 2 time one mechanic said: I needed a motor. I bought a code reader replaced both batteries. Next code p2138 reduded engine power. It a defective throttle control accelerator pedal position sensor. I towed it to gm dealership they are trying to sell me a motor and will not acknowledge, pedal problem because there is no recall only special coverage adjustment #n192188250 global safety field investigation dcs5117 global warranty.
Some days when I am driving my car it seems as if I'm pushing my foot down all the way onto the pedal and that's not normal it did it today 6/4/2020i just got that car October 2019, it did it 3 times so far like I was at a stop light and it seem as if the car took a very long time for me too push down on the pedal, and also while turning a corner it took a while for the acceleration too catch up and as I did some reach search some lower year cars like mine has recalls for fuel injectors relating too engine stalling or pedal sensors.

I already replaced the pedal position sensor once and within 6 months it did it again. I was driving on the freeway when my cars check engine light came on and it gave a message on the dashboard that read engine power is reduced. It slowed me to 44 mph & was stuck at 3000 rpm. I was able to safely maneuver the vehicle off the freeway but I am seriously worried about my own safety & the safety of other vehicles if I continue to drive this car. Like I mentioned, this has already been fixed/replaced once & now it has happened again.
Cruising to work on I-93 in concord, nh traveling around 70 mph and it just lost power again!!! the "reduce engine power light" came on and vehicle would only go 25-30 mph. Thankfully there wasn't a vehicle behind me. I would have been "killed". Dropped vehicle to chevy dealer. They found p2127 for accelerator pedal position sensor failure, replaced gas pedal, cleared codes, road testes. Mileage 76,473. This is absolutely and totally unsafe and unacceptable. The vehicle is in the shop again for the fourth time, same issue. I will report each incident separately.

I purchased my car in 2017 and have had to replace my pedal sensor now what will be 3 times. Every time I had the pedal sensor replaced it was due to a message engine power reduced that would come up on the dashboard. The car would lose power very quickly whether I was on the highway or main streets which would require me to pull over immediately to turn the car off and then turn it back on. Sometimes the message would clear out, but not too much longer while driving, the message would pop back up and I would lose power again. Each time that I had to replace this part, it was never covered under my warranty. This defect is beyond dangerous and can cause harm not just to the driver, but others on the road as well. The car's engine power reduces to 20-25mph from 60-70mph in a matter of seconds which could have caused me cause to be rear ended.
My vehicle has 6x,xxx miles on it. I first encountered a "reduced engine power" message on November 27, 2019 after driving 15 miles, turning the car off for about 30 minutes, and starting the car again. I called on-star to receive a diagnostic report, which returned a p2138 code. I limped the car home on a rural route with reduced power. Once home, the car was turned off for about 5 minutes. When I turned the car on, there was a check engine light but it ran fine. The light eventually turned off. The car ran fine until the evening of Monday, December 2, 2019. This time the reduced engine power condition occurred as I was in traffic commuting home from work, moving at a low speed. Luckily the road wasn't busy and I was able to pull into a gas station. I powered the car off and back on, and it ran fine all the way home. Based on some research on the internet, I believe the accelerator pedal position sensor is failing. This appears to be a widespread issue with these vehicles. I will be replacing the part on my own. The replacement part was very hard to find, supporting my suspicion that this is a widespread and likely an issue that gm is aware of.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving 55 mph, the instrument panel displayed "your power slowing down" and the vehicle decelerated to 20 mph. The contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally; however, the failure recurred three times two miles down the road. The vehicle was taken to duvall Chevrolet (located at 464 us-441, clayton, GA 30525, (877) 818-7723) where it was diagnosed that the accelerator pedal sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure occurred on several occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and provided case number: 9-5339020905. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
Accelerator pedal sensor keeps malfunctioning while driving.
Driving along and my 2016 with 39,000 miles loses acceleration power and receive warning engine power is reduced. I limp it to the chevy dealership and they get it in and I get a call later with them telling me they have seen this in two other cars and they are waiting on the accelerator throttle pedal sensor that needs replaced. They reset and cleaned the sensor and sent me on my way. It's happened three other times since then and I limp it back to shop every time to get reset. I should not be having this issue with it barely out of warranty. It says a lot of one shop to have three Malibu's waiting for this part to become available. I love the Malibu's but with the issues with this car I've had it's hard to keep my faith in Chevrolet. They know this model is having issues yet has not recalled my vehicle yet and I'm out of pocket. I'm a single mom that needs a reliable car.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated and would not exceed 20 mph. Also, the fuel sensor warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to serra Chevrolet (28111 telegraph rd, southfield, mi 48034, (248) 354-6001) where the contact was informed that they were aware of the failure and the accelerator pedal position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,874.
Vehicle went into engine power decreased unable to accelerate with the check engine light on as well as throttle sensor on. Took to dealer who checked all of the diagnostic codes and said it was fully operational. Again drove for about 1 month and same thing happened. Took it back in and Chevrolet dealer said it was the accelerator pedal sensor. We replaced the sensor being a $200 part last week and again the check engine light came on. When this happened we were on the highway in a snow storm and had our baby in the vehicle. It locked up and cars couldn't slow down appropriately. We left the highway for safety reasons and kept vehicle on as it was below 0 degrees outside!.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle suddenly decelerated to 5 mph. Afterwards, the vehicle was not able to be driven over 20 mph. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to jim keras Chevrolet (2000 covington pike, memphis, TN 38128) where it was diagnosed that the throttle pedal position sensor switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 59,621.
Check engine light came on, reduced engine power signage, and traction control light. Driving home on secondary street. Fixed with new sensor for throttle pedal position sensor. 2 weeks later, same lights on dash when started in the morning.

Back in the 1st week of January 2019 I experienced the first major issue. While I was driving to work on the highway traveling at 65 mph the cars check engine light went on as well as the traction control. The vehicle immediately sent a message on my dashboard that said "reduce engine power" and the car jerked and the speed drastically dropped from 65mph to about 20mph. I was unable to accelerate and was luckily able to drive to an emergency lane while cars and semi trucks were behind me and almost hit me. I turned the car off and then back on again and the engine light remained on, but I was able to safely get to a chevy dealership. The dealership ran diagnostics on it and they determined it was a faulty gas throttle pedal and sensor. The vehicle was in the shop for a total of two weeks, due to them being out on the parts. I paid over 500 dollars for the repair. Less than a week later I was merging on to a highway to go to work again. As I was merging on the engine light went on and the message saying "reduced engine power" came on again. I lost the ability to accelerated and pulled over. I then turned my car on and off again. The engine light remained lit and the "reduce engine power" message remained on this time. I was able to accelerate to a max of 35 mph this time. I returned the vehicle to the same chevy dealership. They ran diagnostics on it and this time they stated it could have been due to the cold weather and said a oil change might help. The oil was changed on the vehicle and then the called saying the vehicle was running very rough when they started it. They also then stated that there was condensation in the radiator from the coolant. They are still waiting for parts and the vehicle has been there almost three weeks. Total time in the shop was 5 weeks out of 6 weeks.
Driving down major highway, cel came on, vehicle went into reduced engine power mode. Scanned cel and found code for app sensor failure. Brought to chevy dealer near where car broke down and they said they would charge me to diagnose it and then charge for parts and labor. The only issue being is that the gas pedal and sensor are on a national backorder. Which means that since this is not a warranty issue with the thousand of gm vehicles affected by this issue I would have to pay for the repairs and the cost of the rental car through the dealer. There is no eta on when the part will be in (if ever) since gm has not been producing these parts for aftermarket repairs. This issue started on 12/21/18 and the dealer said it may take up to two weeks or longer to get the part, the part has still not been issued to the dealer which has several cars with this issue. I have owned several gm vehicles, my grandfather worked for gm, and I service many heavy duty gm engines through my job, but this will be the last gm vehicle I believe I will be purchasing. The quality of gm is gone immensely down and they are not worth the headache of owning one anymore.
My Chevrolet 2016 Malibu, while driving on the highway, out of no where my car decreased in speed and my engine light came on. The screen said engine power reduced. I was unable to drive over 30 mph. I pulled over, turned the vehicle on and off where I still was unable to accelerate. I immediately took it to the local Chevrolet dealership where they told me it was a gas pedal sensor that went out and that this part is going out in all Malibus.
Driving the vehicle on the road and it loses power and wont let you drive over 30 mph. The vehicle also would not start. Had to let the car sit for 15 seconds then try to start it again for it to start. Then it would cut off while stopped at a traffic light. Dealership fixed the pistons and added a new battery still had a problem and now they replaced accel pedal sensor. And now drives a little funny.
The other day my 2011 chevy Malibu started to violently shake coming out of a parking lot and then again while driving on a two lane road. This issue was frightening because I couldn¿t properly stop the car and almost got into an accident. The display indicated reduced engine power/traction/service esc and the obd2 codes indicated p2135 (throttle/pedal position sensor/sw a/b voltage correlation). The chevy dealership replaced the throttle body. I hope this does not happen again because the next time I may not be so lucky in getting out of this predicament unscathed.

Brake lights flashed intermittently when I was not braking. I was stopped and informed of this by at state trooper. "check engine" light was on. The cruise control has disengaged involuntarily since 2005. I had a a new brake pedal position sensor installed, but the cruise control still disengages and the check engine light comes on during trips of more than 10 miles.
