My 2000 chevy Malibu with only 80,000 miles had a knuckle in the front brake showing no wear and tear veering me off road ,im going to keep the part and take pictures. It drove smooth since I bought it. Then today the front tire folded under. Me and the certified mechanic couldnt explain it. The part showed no sign of wear to the area that broke. Ive been looking to see if there was a recall, cannot find one if there is let me know. . . This is a very big danger and is life threatening. And it will obviously happen without a warning. A lot of people are maybe having this happen and dont live to tell about it being the reason or dont even know to tell about it. Thanx.

Bought car April 2004, every few weeks to once a month car has been in the shop for noises. Since 4/05 dealer has replaced rotors 3 times, calipers and struts replaced, and still with a vibrating in steering wheel and windy noise. When you push on the brakes you have a grinding noise, like a metal sound, very loud can hear over the radio. Dealer says windy noise is normal for new parts. Still vibrating feeling in steering wheel while braking from over 50 mph. Dealer now says parts are not covered by gm.

2002 Malibu. Rotors and pads have had to be replaced 3 times and pads alone once in 35000 miles. Chevrolet customer assistance says there is nothing wrong with the car. 3 different service departments have told me that this is a common problem with Malibu's and grand am's. Brakes will be completely redesigned for 2004. Why redesign if there is no problem??.

I purchsed the vehicle used in Nov. Of 2001. Shortly there after, the brakes started experiencing excessive noise and vibration and mild pedal pulsing. I took the vehicle in and the dealer replaced/turned rotors and replaced pads. About a month later noise and vibration returned. I brought the car back, classic had the vehicle for the day then said there was nothing wrong. The noise and vibration dissappeared but returned intermittently about 2 months later. Also the stopping distance has increased noticabley as of late. I am unsure to bring the vehicle back in to be told there is nothing wrong.
While driving, applied brakes and without warning brakes failed. Consumer had to repair brakes twice under 15000 miles.

I have had the rotors replaced twice within 22,000 miles. I just took it in again because the wheel shakes when applying the brakes sometimes, the dealer says they don't see anything wrong. In the rain it feels like the brakes are not going to work at all, every now and then the brake pedal goes to the floor. There is something wrong, the car should not be shaking like this and should not be needing new rotors all the time. They've also replaced the wheel covers every time the rotors were done, I don't know why. I had them replace the pass. Wheel cover last week because I noticed small cracks on each spoke of the rim.
Brakes failed.
At approx. 5400 miles car would shake when brakes applied at highway speeds. Dealer cut rotors within a few thousand miles problem reoccured. Dealer replace rotors, stating they were too thin. At approx. 11000 miles same problem, dealer replaced rotors, stating defective. At 18,600 miles, same problem, dealer replaced rotors again - again said defective. Dealer doing work is gearhart chev. In denville, NJ/ I have had the front rotors replaced 3 times before 19,000 miles. The brake pads were replaced once. Dealer states rotors are defective each time and replaces with new but problem recurs. Gm refuses to take car back.
