Both rear coil springs broke part # 22714392 ( both have the same codes of ora and 301024p00 on the paper tag on spring ) this car has never pulled a trailer or had any heavy loads both of these springs broke in the same place ( I have the broken springs) driving straight on a smooth road you do not notice problem it is when you have to do fast lane change or hard braking then vehicle is hard to control I went to a Chevrolet dealer and asked what they could for me I said it was not safe to drive and I never heard of 2 coil springs breaking in the same place they said there was not anything they were willing to do they said I could call general motors but they would not do anything either I stopped driving car for several months then ordered 2 after market moog brand springs which are made of thicker metal and I installed replacement springs on 11/15/2016.

2 Rear Suspension Coil Springs problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 09/24/2008

Noticed left rear of '99 Malibu lower than right while parked in a filling station on the evening of 9/24/08. While hoisted for an oil change on 10/01/08, the technician showed me the left rear coil spring was completely ruptured. (in August of 2005, the front left coil spring ruptured. I paid to replace it with a new one. ) the right spring coils are original to this day.

3 Rear Suspension Coil Springs problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 04/02/2005

Contact says that he owns a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu and the front coil spring on the passenger side broke, this past week the rear coil spring broke on the drivers side. The dealer told him that he could bring the vehicle in, and while driving to the shop the strut on the front passenger side broke and caused his tire to shred. The consumer did not have any warnings prior to the failure. The consumer was driving in the city.
