I purchased a used 2001 Monte Carlo ss 3. 8l October 2011. The recall #2009047 engine compartment fire notice arrived in August 2012. Two spark plug retainers were installed at the dealer September 18, 2012 for no charge. On November 18, 2013, the car was parked for a few hours from 11 am until 2:45 pm, then after driving a short distance (less than 8 miles) on the highway, the car was parked in the lot of a pharmacy. Noticeable smoke began to emanate from under the sides of the hood. The hood remained cool to the touch. Immediately after the hood was lifted, the entire engine compartment was engulfed in fire. Two police officers just happened to be on the scene at the time. They kept us away from the vehicle and prevented us from any attempts to use an extinguisher on the fire. It burned until the firefighters arrived a few minutes later and put it out. The car still looked great with the hood closed. Except for a cracked windshield, there was no visible damage to the interior, exterior, or tires. Everything in the engine compartment was completely destroyed. The insurance company totaled it out.

Well GMC I don't even know where to start. 1st my transmission is stalling and seems like it is having a hard time shifting from 2nd to3rd gear there for stalling consistently as soon as the cars rpm goes to 2 and before 3 I have taken it various times to get it fixed and has been very costly and still the problem exists. 2. The security light come on and locks the car from starting almost 3 to 4 times daily took it to get fixed they ended up replacing ignition switch ignition holder everything on the inside of ignition over 1000. 00. 3 electricle problem that causes signal lights to not work and sensors are. All out of wack during the day lights are on at night they dont turn on. 4 the ac seems to b stuck on feet and face almost as if it was clogged. 5. The front right wheel shaking n vibrates every time you go above 60mph or turning. 6. The the fuel system went out the fuel pump the fuel sensor the actual fuel gage stopped working. 7. The tansmission line on the bottom popped off as I was on the freeway spraying transmission oil all over the place almost causing an accident. And the list goes on and on. . .
