Front Seat Belt Retractor Problems of Chevrolet S10

Seat belt on passenger's side will not retract from retractor, leaving occupant without any restraint in a vehicle crash. Dealer notifed. Feel free to provide any further information.

Consumer slammed on brakes to avoid another car in front, and driver's side seat belt retractor did not catch properly. The dealer and the manufacturer could not help the consumer and the seat belt is still not tight around the waist when brakes are applied.

Vehicle was previously rearended and the drivers side seatbelt did not protect consumer. As a result, consumer incurred injuries. Manufacturer assured consumer that the seatbelt had been fixed. However, vehicle was again rearended at a stop light, and the seatbelt did not retract. Consumer sustained injuries again.

Upon applying brakes on ruff or wet roads, the brake pedal jumps and then goes all the way to the floor. Brakes fail. Dealer suggests that I drive only on smooth roads that are dry. They admitted that this is a common problem and that the manufacturer hasn't come up with a solution. Told that it meets standards. I feel this truck is dangerous and I do not want to drive it and risk my life or anyone I might hit. My brother has already been thrown into the dash, while wearing his seat belt. Dealer said belt does not hold when brakes fail.

The pretensioner on the front passenger seat belt tightens up and does not release when it is supposed to. I gave up with the dealership.

Driver's side seat belt will not retract from housing mechanism. Also, when vehicle was stopped with foot depressed on brake pedal, pedal went all way down to floor . Consumer has contacted dealer. Please provide any further details.
