Chevrolet S10 owners have reported 12 problems related to other fuel system (under the other fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I'm having a problem with I believe it's the fuel sensor my truck gets up to a certain temperature and it just dies and it's not just my truck it's in a lot of the newer model colorado's as well I have a friend who's having the same exact problem as I am when it gets up past 95 degrees, the truck just all of a sudden stops in the engine turns off, and you have to try and steer your truck without any power steering, the reason I am filing this is if this happens in the middle of the road it could possibly cause an accident and that would be no good and it only happens when it is hot outside in the winter time or when it's cold I have no issues whatsoever.

Truck was purchased 7/7/20. Seemed to work fine, but started noticing engine trouble on 9/10/20. Had only driven it ~150 miles since purchase, never any strenuous driving. Took it in to get serviced on 9/21/20, where several problems were spotted, one of which is traceable to the dealer: 1) the distributor cap was being held on only by two zipties. This is why it seemed to run fine on the date of purchase, but caused engine misfires within a few months of light use. The dealership notified me the day before I purchased it that the distributor was being fixed, but they failed to notify me that it wasn't fixed properly. Truck now misfires, has an arcing wire, and is unsafe to drive. 2)truck was sold with no parking brake, and no warning that it was not installed. This information has omitted when I asked about safety issues before purchasing. Never noticed because phx is so flat. Had I needed to use the parking brake, not having one installed is a significant safety issue. 3) an impact sensor was left hanging from the rear of the vehicle. A large enough bump or a rock could set off airbags while driving, putting my passengers, myself, and other drivers and pedestrians at serious risk. This truck is very unsafe to drive, and I was not responsible for any of the issues that made it unsafe. The first issue was caused by a bad repair made by the dealership, and the other two noted issues were not noted in the carfax or by the salesperson when I asked about safety issues.

Occasionally about 5 or 6 times and counting when initially applying the break at either 45mph or 10 mph my 1997 chevy S10 vehicle starts to accelerate with my foot off the gas and cruise control off at what appeared to be full speed/throttle. My first reaction was to break even harder, but then the antilock brakes kicked in and seemed to reduce the stopping force by not letting the wheels lock. The vehicle continued to accelerate until I placed the car in neutral and then the vehicle stopped and also stopped accelerating.

Severely corroded brake lines, lines blew. Near miss accident. This is a common complaint across mfrs. . Well maintained cars with serverely corroded fuel and brake lines. I bet it can be traced to a cheap supplier that supplied the big 3 for a period of years. No corrosion resistance on the steel. Can't blame this on ne winter salt. My oem 1964 looks better than my late model vehicles.
I was returning to el paso from kerrville at night when the headlamps dimmed and the truck lost power most traffic was going 80 -85. It was scary.
It just stalled and the radio keeps going on and off once in a while, also the tires keep going flat on me and I put fix a flat in them and they still do the same. Electric problem I think it might be the relay not sure. But it has electric problems.

Myself and two friends have had problems with bad gasonline caps at approximately 10 years of vehicle life. The wear and tear over 10 years has diminished the seal capacity of the gasoline cap. The gasoline cap defect or normal wear/tear seems to result in evap cannisters becoming saturated, which results in an identified small leak in the system during smog check in CA. Perhaps, the coincidence of gas caps seals worn and evap cannister needing replacement at the same time with a few people is statistically insignificant, but the cost to replace a gas cap ~$30. 00 and evap cannister ~$300. 00 is significant. What advisories or improvements may be made in this area? I recommend three solutions: 1. Replacement gasoline cap schedule by manufacturer; 2. Notification to car owner to regularly check gasoline cap seals after 7 years by manufacturer; and/or 3. Federal government support manufacturers to improve the design of gasoline caps to last longer.

I backed out of my driveway. Began slowly traveling down the hill that I live on. The brakes completely failed. The brake warning light was not on prior to this occuring. The engine also stalled. I had no way to slow or stop safely, as the parking brake cable was rusted and did not work. I made it to the bottom of the hill. Ended up driving off of a small embankment causing damage to the front bumper and other external areas in the front. The hood and driver side door are no longer sealing very good. A repair shop had to replace much of the brake lines due to failure caused by rust. The mechanic also found fuel line damage due to rust and replace them as well. I could have easily been injured or died that day, or have caused injury or death. Why has Chevrolet not been required correct these problems?.
