Accelerator pedal sticks.
While driving accelerator sticks. On one occasion, consumer backed out of his driveway, put the truck in forward, pressed the accelerator and had to coast back into the driveway because the pedal would not push, after pushing the pedal very hard it realeased and started working.
When applying accelerator pedal it will stick. Consumer then has to press harder. This will cause vehicle to lunge forward. Vehicle at dealership at this time.
Consumer stated the accelerator pedal is sticking, at 15000 miles pedal began sticking, dealer replaced the throttle plate assembly at around 32000 miles. This will be the third replacement.
Consumer noticed the accelerator pedal sticking periodically and thought maybe the floor mat was in the way, however he noticed that did not help and it became worse and would stick when in traffic, consumer discoverd a service bulletin addressing the problem, however was still charged, consumer feels he should not have been charged since the manufacturer was aware of the problem.
The accelerator pedal sticks at rest and has to be pushed very hard to break it loose; this causes the vehicle to lunge forward. I have come very close to having an accident several times due to this problem. I talked to several people with this same year and model truck and they have the same problem. I called my dealer to see if a recall had been issued on this and was told no. A technical bulletin has been issued by the manufacturer regarding this problem (the dealer didn't tell me this) and I feel there should be a recall rather than a bulletin.
Gas pedal constantly sticks when trying to accelerate which causes the vehicle to lunge dangerously and unexpectedly (I. E. From dead stop or while already in motion if you remove foot from accelerator pedal and then try to accelerate again). This is an extremely hazardous situation, especially when trying to start out from a dead stop and you have to increase foot pressure on the accelerator to unstick it causing the vehicle to lunge. The NHTSA consumer complaint pages are full of this exact same scenario, involving this vehicle and this problem, and the manufacturer has not accepted ownership of this obvious malfunction and obvious major safety concern. This should be handled by the manufacturer via a saftey recall issue.
While pulling away from a stop sign or traffic light accelerator pedal stuck. Owner contacted the dealer. Who recommended that the owner use a foam padding/ sand paper material and rub the inside of the throttle body.
When we first noticed the accelerator sticking, the dealer would not look at it until they could duplicate the problem so we literally had to smash our foot on the accelator to get the vehicle to accelorate. At times we were trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic and the accelerator would stick in the middle of the intersection at which point the dealer could reduplicate the problem and the throttle plate was cleaned. Approximately 1-2 months later it began showing the same symptoms only this time it is taking longer to completely stick. It was explained to me that the dealer will not be reimbursed for the parts by gm if they can't prove the accelerator sticks first. My question then is do I have to be killed by an oncoming semi while trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic before someone will fix my vehicle properly. My next question is am I the only one complaining about this. Someone needs to take a closer look at this problem and fix it before a fatality occurs. My last question is what causes this problem. I have heard a variety of excuses that throttle plates get dirty, a new car shouldn't be doing that, etc, etc. Help!!!!!( dot number: tire size: 16 ).
Accelerator pedal has been sticking since the first year vehicle was purchased new. It has gotten so bad that in order to move from a stopped position one must keep one foot on the brake to avoid lurching forward or backward uncontrollably.
When driving accelerator pedal sticks. Took vehicle to the dealership, and mechanic told him that thottle body was defective. Dealership replaced it twice. Consumer stated that when stopping at a red light accelerator pedal sticks.
Accelerator pedal sticks when driving, had to push down very hard to release pedal, which caused sudden acceleration.
The accelerator pedal became stuck while driving. The pedal was serviced by the dealer several times, but the problem still existed. Related investigation ea-02-015.
The accelerator pedal became stuck.
The accelerator pedal sticks at rest and the vehicle lunges forward. The dealer replaced throttle body to correct the problem. A technical bulletrin had been issued by the manufacturer regarding this problem and the consumer feels there should be a recall rather than a bulletin.
Accelerator pedal sticks, and driver has to depress the gas pedal hard to accelerate. Once the accelerator pedal engages, the vehicle accelerates to a high speed. On one occasion, driver depressed the accelerator hard and the vehicle accelerated and hit a dog.
