Seven problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When taking key out of ignition motor continues to run.
While in motion, consumer slowed vehicle to turn in to the drive way. Slightly accelerating to complete the turn, the vehicle suddenly surged violently to high rpm. The vehicle once again surged up to high rpms and crashed into a wooden fence post. There is a serious malfunction with this vehicle. Consumer looks forward to a response.
I believe both items would have been in for the same replacement if I didn't learn to "live" with problem. No safety defect listed.
When I take off from a stop light or stop sign the accelerator hangs and truck will not go. But when does unhang itself it it takes off in a lunging motion which could be a hazard. It has done this several times and I have taken it to the dealership and was told it was carbon buildup, and that they could not do anything about it.
When driving at any speed the vehicle is accelerating at 2500 rpms when driving or sitting a stop/ at stop light or just sitting. Dealer can't determine the cause of the problem.
