Failure Date: 08/14/2005

Throttle body sticking on 1999 chevy Silverado. . . I previously reported a sticking throttle body on my truck when it was new. It stuck at the idle position and took considerable effort to get it to "unstick". The dealer replaced the throttle body claiming the original had a bur, that caused it to stick. Now, several thousand miles later, the new throttle body is exhibiting the same behavior. It seems obvious that I didn't have one defective throttle body, but all throttle bodys at the time had a defect. I know that there are many similar complaints. I do not want to pay to replace what gm knows is defective. Please look into this matter further. . . .

Throttle sticks at idle position. I almost launched my boat and truck both into the lake due to the excessive force required to operate the throttle. I took to dealer to complain, and they said I would have to pay to get it cleaned. I did. Now under a year later the problem is coming back. I think this is a safety defect that should be fixed via a recall before people get killed.

After pickup has been driven for a few minutes, like to a shopping center, and the engine is stopped. Upon restarting engine the throttle will stick, requiring an estamated 30 to 80 pounds pressure to activate. Then, it will suddenly depress causing the pickup to "jump. " this is dangerous, particularly backing out into traffic or trying to back to hitch a trailer.

10 Car Throttle Sticking problem

Failure Date: 10/05/1999

Throttle sticks at idle position at random times. This has been a problem since the vehicle was new. The dealer attempted to repair but said they found nothing wrong. Vehicle is currently at dealership attempting a second repair. Sticking suspected to be at the throttle body assembly, not the pedal. According to shop manual, vehicles with high mileage can exhibit this problem when egr gases cause deposits on the throttle body. Also have noticed multiple TSB's regarding the egr valve. Suspect that there might be a correlation.
